Kids or grandkids got the shot? Nieces, nephews? The kids next door?
Congratulations!
Tell us about it here.
*awesome stickers by Maze Dancer, as always
And of course, all the other animal stickers from before are also available.
What stickers do you want?
WaterGirl
I am anticipating that there will be BJ peeps whose kids and grandkids have appointments to get the shot today. If it turns out that appointments aren’t available yet, I’ll pull the post and re-post it when the shots are actually available in the wild
Whenever it happens… I am excited for all of you with young people in your lives.
Seth
My good friend’s 5 and 8 year olds got theirs! Woohoo!
Currants
YES!!! 3/3 (grand kiddos ages 5-9) have first Pfizer dose on board. They waited in line 3 hrs Weds evening (Cincinnati) and were troupers all. So proud of them! Duck w/3 hearts please!
Gin & Tonic
Have to wait nearly two weeks for grandkid #1’s appointment. Grandkid #2 is only 4, so it’ll be next year sometime.
WaterGirl
@Seth: Sticker?
Matt McIrvin
Now this is a great feature to see.

Friend’s kids got the shot this week! Spawn the Younger and many friends’ kids get shots next week!
Spawn the Youngest is 2, so it will be a while. Hopefully soon.
RinaX
My older niece and nephew are over 13. I took them to get the shot as soon as it was allowed in May. Other niece is only 3, other three nephews and niece are infants, so the wait continues.
WaterGirl
@Suzanne: It seems like you guys have been all waiting forever.
Suzanne
@WaterGirl: Believe me, it feels like that to me, too.
The littlest littles have the hardest time with masking, so I really hope the vaccine gets approved for them soon. I had to take the two younger Spawns and SuzMom to Target yesterday, and we were going to go to the grocery store afterward. But we reached the end of F’s mask-wearing tolerance about 3/4 of the way through the Target trip, so we abandoned the grocery store idea. We take her out and about relatively rarely these days.
zhena gogolia
@Matt McIrvin: Yeah, really nice.
Lobo
Tomorrow. My child is excited!
WaterGirl
@Lobo: I am excited for you! Don’t forget to come back for your stickers. Some of these new ones from Maze Dancer are totally adorable. (I think!)
Nicole
The shot isn’t until this evening, but the 11-year-old is scheduled. He’s also annoyed with me because I scheduled it with his pediatrician and had I opted for one of the city-run sites he could have received $100 for the shot. I told him we could try a city-run site for the 2nd one if they’ll offer the same incentive, but for now I want him on the road to protection ASAP. ;)
Old School
Very happy and very jealous of those already getting shots. We have the shots scheduled for Elementary School and Middle School, but not until the 13th.
bluegirlfromwyo
I’ll be here for my sticker as soon as the 7-year-old nephew is vaccinated. I know his mama’s gonna get him a shot asap. Thanks, WaterGirl and MazeDancer!

I got my flu shot today – and had planned on getting my Covid booster. But, my doctor’s office won’t mix and match, which I didn’t learn until I was literally sitting in the room. Because I received the moderna shots, and they only stock Pfizer, no booster for me today. Which was exceptionally disappointing.
So, I will get an appointment at the TCF Center in Detroit for the booster. Not really a big deal, but I was trying to be efficient.
MisterForkbeard
I’ve got an anti-story for this >_<
My 7-y-o was scheduled to get the shot next Friday. But we have to cancel it because her teacher at school tested positive last night, and the CVS won’t give you the shot if you’ve had expose in the past two weeks. Ugh.
So now we’ve got to wait just a bit longer.
NYCMT
My older boy got vaccinated at Shea Stadium (well, Citi Field, but the Mets will forever play at Shea in my mind), yesterday afternoon after he and his younger brother had their first dental checkups in two years. In the shuttered McFadden’s sports bar. The administering nurse works ordinarily at New York Presbyterian in Cardio-thoracic and knew my dad’s former cardiologist (who has been deceased for a few years). I have a perfect photo of my son taken in the observation area. Nineteen months ago I took a picture of him in front of the closed Midway 9 in Forest Hills, just before the ambulances started screaming.

Bookends (ptui ptui) of our apocalypse.
I was in tears in the parking lot.
Matt McIrvin
@Hildebrand: Given FDA/CDC recommendations, that is particularly weird.
My wife who got the J&J shot is getting, most likely, a Pfizer booster today. I’ll get something soon but as I got the Moderna shot with its longer dose spacing, I won’t be at the 6-month mark until November 20th.
WaterGirl
@Nicole: I can see why that would be a big disappointment to him!
Sucks to be the grown-up.
Betsy
I’m so happy for everyone whose kiddos are getting protected! Can I join in and celebrate that I’m getting my booster today?
Appointments suddenly seem much easier to get (both closer to home and same-day) so that’s a good thing too.
I’m super happy since I go back to in-person employment next week.
Ken
I know you’re sane, so it won’t happen, but you could go into the pediatrician’s office and say “As a parent I know what is best for my child, so give them the vaccination now.”
In a way it’s a pity it won’t happen, because it might be instructive to see the media’s spin on that story, versus one where parents demand other unapproved treatments for their children — I’m sure there’s a case out there where someone has demanded ivermectin for their kid.
BTW I have five great-nieces and -nephews, and I’m hoping they’ll all get the shots as soon as possible.
rikyrah
said it before…
these posts always made me happy.
Now, I can look at a new series of posts to make me happy. Every reply here is a family who is more safe than they were before :)
YESSS!!!
WaterGirl
@Betsy: I couldn’t wait any longer… I had to use that adorable sticker.
I also love this one.

Nephew, age 13 and niece, age 12 are both fully vaxed. Their deadbeat father is not.
Penelope, please.
Sure Lurkalot
Love Maze Dancer’s stickers!
I think I mentioned in a past thread that I have a nephew who is not sure about vaccinating his 3 kids, all now eligible. Learned through the grapevine…I wonder if I should send a text like “Bet you’re excited to finally get the kiddos vaxxed”, to prompt a conversation, perhaps. Any thoughts here Juicers?
Lyrebird
@WaterGirl:
Thanks, my kiddos go tomorrow, fingers crossed!

The 10-year-old has an appointment for Monday! We’re excited, especially the kid! Thank you to all the BJ parents, grandparents, and other caregivers who are making this happen. Also, a big shoutout to all the children who are lining up to get immunized. Just rockstars, all around.
rikyrah
@Sure Lurkalot:
it can’t hurt. It’s about protecting them.
The sense of relief, just pure relief, I felt when Peanut got hers…
I can’t describe it.
Why send children to school everyday unprepared to face the children of the lying unvaccinated

Speaking of the shot:
Kansas Dem Governor Laura Kelly has come out against the vaccine mandate.
Fuck her.
Jinchi
@WaterGirl: We got our youngest an appoinrment for next Wednesday. Demand was so high that the appointments were totally filled within a couple of hours of them being announced.
Central Planning
I am my parent’s kid and got my Moderna booster on Tuesday. Besides the throbbing headache (which made me vomit) I didn’t have the side effects like I did with my 2nd shot. Can I get a “Yes! Yes!”?
Mousebumples
@Ken: I also have a 2 year old and asked this question of the pediatrician as a pharmacist. I was told that when the 2+ ACIP meeting was *scheduled* I could see about provisionally making an appointment for the next day.
As ready as I am to get my kid vaccinated, i get it. Different immune response in that age group so a smaller yet dose may be most appropriate. We’ll get there.
Stacy
Not yet, appointment next Friday!
MomSense
@Hildebrand:
Check out Walmart. I got all three Moderna shots there and recommended it to family. It was super easy to make the appointment online. Locally they require appointments for Moderna but not Pfizer.
Isua
The kids will get the shot Monday! And hopefully the flu shot as well. Walgreens seemed up for that. Mind you, the little bastards already got covid at school (thanks for no masks, Georgia, MY kids wore masks and caught it anyway) and gave me a breakthrough case, but still. Vaccination ahoy!
terraformer
I’m disappointed so far: given how LONG parents have been waiting for this, and given that we KNEW the Pfizer vax was imminently going to get a EUA – the fact that I can’t find any location near me to actually schedule the damn thing is infuriating. Yes, I’ve been to vaccine.gov and all the local pharmacy website and even the Children’s Hospital website – but they’ll show an opening on this or that day at this or that time, and no matter what site, I click it and it says “try another one” or it crashes or doesn’t respond. They had all kinds of time to get this right, the ability easily see options and schedule, but it’s fvcked up. At least here in WI. Damnit
WaterGirl
@terraformer: cvs.com was right on top of the boosters and you could schedule boosters first thing Friday morning after the Thursday decision to allow boosters.
No idea how they are on the kid vaccine, but they might be worth a try.
That’s the national site, and then you put in your zip code.
BobinPDX
Congrats to all the kiddos getting shots!
Interesting item on the two girls in the We Slayed pic. I just saw that picture in an article about twins. Those girls are twin sisters of biracial parents. Pretty cool, I think.
WaterGirl
@BobinPDX:
wow, that is amazing.
SC54HI
Eligible grandchild has an appointment to get their shot at a local Walgreens, next Tuesday.
RELIEVED!
ETA: This is in MO whose AG is currently suing the grandchild’s school district because it has required indoor masking.
MazeDancer
@BobinPDX: Not sure why such famed girls would be available at Raw Pixel, a royalty free stock site.
But did look up the phenomenon you mention. There were quite a few examples.
None of them looked exactly like the slayer girls. So maybe Raw Pixel didn’t get their rights after all. But close enough for folk music as they say in the recording studio,
Calmer tiki
My wife is a retired nurse who works 1/2 days at a local clinic giving covid vaccinations. The 1st day the vaccine was available to kids she had to work an extra shift because there were so many families showing up for the shot. It was the best news I heard all week
BobinPDX
More than likely, the article I read found the same pic and used it instead of getting an actual picture of biracial twins. Lazy reporting.
Betsy
@WaterGirl:
Thank you, WaterGirl. They are both adorable and they sure suit my feelings about getting the booster!
Gammyjill
I have 2 sons and they each have two kids. One’s kids are 8 and 5 and will be getting their shots next Wednesday (unless they can find a place earlier. They live in Hanover, NH). I feel good about those kids, but not so much about the other grandchildren. The 6 year old will get the shot in Ann Arbor but his 3 year old sister is too young. I sure hope they can get a safe vaccine for the 2’s and over…
Burrowing Owl
My 11-year-old got his first shot two hours ago. He’d like two stickers, please: the Nicely Done, Human, and the UB Jabbed. And I had my Moderna booster on Halloween, so if you’re feeling really generous with stickers, I’d like Odoroki.
sab
Grand-daugjter got her shot Saturday. She doesn ‘t like shots. She is seven. When the nice lady jabbed jer sje shrieked out, at the top of her lungs “She just stuck a hole in my arm!” Drama lama. She didn’t have much in the way of after-effects at all.
She would like a yellow kitty sticker.
