We’re still shooting for 2022 Balloon Juice Pet Calendars to be available for order on December 1.

But we need your help to make our deadline!

Open Thread, 60 Minutes, I Will Vote Concert

We have 350 pet pics for the calendar, so there are two BJ Pet Calendars again this year.  We are calling them Calendar A and Calendar B.

If you submitted photos of more than one pet, all of your pets have been placed in either Calendar A or Calendar B.

Please check the Pet Calendar links in the sidebar.

This is your chance to make sure we get it right.

If your pet is no longer with us, you can have a heart next to their name, if you like.

Please check for:

  • Are all of your pets listed with your nym?
  • Is the spelling of your pet’s name correct?
  • Are ALL of your pets listed with the same calendar?  (look for either A or B)
  • Is the word “heart” there if you should have a heart for your pet?  And empty if it should be empty?

The pages in the sidebar aren’t posts, so you can’t comment there.

If anything is incorrect for your pets, or if you have questions, please comment in this thread to let me know about it.

Update:  Even if you find your nym in Calendar A, please check Calendar B to verify that one of your pets didn’t accidentally land in the other calendar.

Update 2: I am pretty sure I left out some hearts, so please check the heart column carefully!

Update 3: freeheel, I still need your pet names!

Update 4:  We have multiple Nancy’s who submitted without a name or a nym, or maybe nancy was the nym.  Anyway, I don’t know how many of these are from the same “Nancy”.  If you guys can clarify, that would be helpful.  I am pretty sure that Daffodil and Holly’s Nancy is different from the others.  I think the O’Driscol Nancy is different from the others, too.  But I don’t know about the owners of Katie and PJ.

    Mine shows a heart but the kitty in the calendar is my current kitty who is still very much here. My previous kitty passed away last year but that was a different pet.

    @Hoosierspud: Weird, for me it’s on one line, and it’s on one line in the spreadsheet.  So it will be one line in the calendar.

    @WaterGirl: WaterGirl, I have to apologize. I only know Duby’s name in Cyrillic. I just noticed that his mom spelled it Duby in Latin letters, so that must be correct. I’m sorry to have to ask for it to be changed back, because I should use the spelling she has (even if it doesn’t follow the usual transliteration rules). So it should be Duby.

    @Alison Rose: Really!  What a horrible mistake to make.

    The hearts are the one thing I hadn’t gone back to check against all the emails and files.  I thought it was more important to be able to get the spreadsheet exports out for review, but I know there were going to be a lot of heart changes one way or the other.

    @Odie Hugh Manatee: Yeah, we don’t make a special effort either way – to keep them in the same month or make sure they are separate.

    Beth sorts the photos according to her secret design plan – well, not so secret.  Black and white usually goes into January, because that’s how the month feels.

    February gets photos with more than one pet because of valentine’s day.  October gets the fall-looking photos, etc.

    So it all depends on what you send in!

    In calendar B, it looks like I capitalized ‘Shirk’ on my first two photos but not the third — making them all lower-case will avoid charges of flagrant inconsistency with the infrequent times I post. Thanks!

    Thank you for this!  My info is correct!  I see I will need to buy both calendars, because my Baby is in B, and the magnificent Steve (John Cole’s boss) is in A.  I just adore that kitty!  I really like seeing everybody’s pets!

    @beth:  Ah.  I had your first name as the nym for one of the folders, and we sort by nym and not name, do that’s why I didn’t catch the split.

    We will definitely correct that, but that requires beth to make the change, so it hasn’t been made yet in the calendar design, so your guys are temporarily still split, but I have sent beth an email.

    edit: both of your pets are now in Calendar A. I have not updated the list in the sidebar.

    @shirk: Okay, shirk is now lower case everywhere for consistency in the official spreadsheet.

    But we only put pet names in the calendar, not people nyms, so you are good for the calendar in any case.
