Open Thread: Has Anyone Received their 2022 Pets of Balloon Juice Calendar Yet?

This post is in: Balloon Juice, Open Threads, Pet Calendar

FacebookTweetEmail

Has anyone received their calendars yet?

How do they look in person?

Calendar A

Preview of 2022 Pets of Balloon Juice: Calendar A!

Calendar B

Final Preview of 2022 Pets of Balloon Juice: Calendar B! 1

All calendar proceeds  go directly to the pet rescue.

You can click this link to order or you can order by clicking Link to Order 2022 Calendars in the sidebar.

If you have pets in the calendars and have not yet reviewed the calendars, please do so before placing your order – spreadsheets that tell you which calendar your guys are in and previews of each month are in the sidebar.

If you find a problem, corrections can still be made.  But the calendar has to be changed BEFORE you place your order with Cafe Press.  The calendars are printed on demand by Cafe Press, and there’s no way to stop an order once you place it.

If you find an issue:

  1. Notify us in this post
  2. Wait for us to let you know that it has been fixed and that the calendar page has been updated
  3. Review the calendar again to verify all is good
  4. Then place your order.

Calendars are $25 each.  Cafe Press raised the base cost of calendars this year, and you guys swore a blood oath that raising the price by $2 would not affect your purchase, so we are counting on that.  Well, it looked like they were raising their prices, but they didn’t.  So we didn’t.

John Cole says: “Check the god-damn previews before you order.”  (Or he would say that if I asked him to.)

    Open thread!

PSA:  We have more offers of books – for the Adam Schiff Midnight in Washington book club – than we have folks who said they could use them because money is tight at the holidays.  So if a gift book would be helpful and you held back because you thought someone might need it more, we still have plenty of gift books available.

Just send me an email and I’ll pair you with someone!

    zhena:

You ordered your calendars on 12/4, and yours is the only order from 12/4 that isn’t marked “complete” yet.  So you might want to check with them to see if there is a problem?

Or maybe wait a day and remind me tomorrow to check to see if your order is still pending?

    Matt C. :

Yours are the only calendars ordered on 12/5 that are not marked as “complete” yet.

See what I wrote to zhena above?

Haven’t received it yet, but not expecting it for at least another week.  Steve is as usual a handsome beast and Rosie, bless her, looks pretty good too.

Where can I see the latest images? In the Dec 2 Calendar B review thread I noted an issue (For November, Sam & Tanya -> Tanya & Sam) but I’m still seeing the old image. And CafePress’ “View Calendar Pages” link appears to be non-functional.

@Ceci n est pas mon nym: Yeah, we ditched that on Cafe Press two years ago because it was impossible.

Is this the correct picture?  that’s what i show in the final review PDF file. (not in the sidebar)

@Ceci n est pas mon nym: It takes some time to save 24 images to individual files, upload them to WordPress and then add them to a post.

So I didn’t do that for the last minute changes – we just changed them in the calendar files but didn’t upload.

If anyone else has a question, i’ll be glad to put up your pic in this thread so you can double-check.  I’ll be gone for an hour or two but will check back in when I return.

But when you said “Is this the correct picture?” there was no actual picture there. No link. Nothing to review.

FWIW, my wife was very happy when told that the profits go to shelters.

We got shipping confirmation and are not particularly worried about delivery, etc.

Steve is a fine looking cat (I don’t pretend to be an expert on dogs- they all look blandly cute to me).

Haven’t gotten the calendar yet, but I’m sure it will arrive soon.

Bleg: Does anyone have any good suggestions for a good novel that takes place in Texas, preferably written by a Black/Woman/LGBTQ/Native etc., author?  Looking for something good to read for a week by a lake for Christmas that will fit the vibe of my vacation, but not from the typical, white, cowboy/freedom/Alamo-obsessed perspective.  I already read Michener’s Texas years ago and loved it, so I’m not opposed to something like historical like that, but I’m trying to steer towards Black and other minority authors.

    @UncleEbeneezer:

Oprah has a state-by-state list of black-owned book stores, which is easy to search, but difficult to link.

Here are the Texas listings. They are bound to have some good suggestions:

    • Black Pearl Books – Austin, TX
    • Black World Books – Austin, TX
    • Enda’s Booktique – Duncanville, TX
    • Pan-African Connection Bookstore Art Gallery and Resource Center – Dallas, TX
    • The Dock Bookshop – Fort Worth, TX

I bought Adam Schiff’s book yesterday, so won’t be needing one from our generous Jackals. Also got Fiona Hill’s and Alexander Vindman’s books; maybe we can bookclub one of those some day.

Ordered on the 3rd, got the conformation email 3 days ago, , clicking the link to UPS said the number was not a shipment until this morning, now UPS tells me I will see the delivery date when they receive the package. So the calendars have left the building and will likely be here within the week.

    The estimated delivery is 12/16.

@MazeDancer: Thanks.  I’m looking for books I can get (hard copies, not e-books) here (Pasadena) or via mail before I head to Texas.  Maybe some of these places deliver.

I did find these excellent candidates for reading:

Forget The Alamo: The Rise & Fall of An American Myth

Cult Of Glory: The Bold & Brutal History of the Texas Rangers

Has anybody heard from Quinerly? I’m on pins and needles thinking about her possible/impending home owership in NM. If you’re out their Quinerly I’m sending you all the good juju I’m capable of mustering.

    But maybe it’s just fine!
