My primary resolution is No Resolutions.

I am going to get serious about researching retirement options. I have had the dream job I never knew I wanted for 23 years and spent a total of 31 years in higher education and I want to get out while I’m still young enough to enjoy myself and before I come to hate going to work. I think I will still want to work at least part-time. If I don’t, I am liable to become a hermit when given the opportunity. Just trying to figure out if I want to get a job just to get out of the house or try to do some private consulting, which I’ve been asked to do many times over the years, but could not, of course, due to ethical constraints. I need to try to figure that out and also start talking to HR to find out what, exactly, my package will be and what the processes are. Retirement is probably still a couple years away, but it’s good to have a plan.

I’m going to try to enjoy life more, whatever it brings.
Joy and prosperity to all of you in the New Year.

Happy New Year everyone.

@geg6: It is good to have a plan. I pulled the trigger on 35 years this week. My resolution is to figure out what’s next. HNY all y’all.

Now we know why Thurston wasn’t mentioned…
HNY everyone.

I am going to stay healthy, keep my family healthy, and figure out how to come into a large sum of money.
If you have any advice on the last one, I’m all ears.

My resolution, as always, is to have no resolutions. And that resolution is one resolution I can always count on keeping.

Vacuum. And I finally did today. So, done. Success.

Housework! is my resolution. Been neglecting it for a while and that really shows. Dust bunnies are stalking the cats.

I resolve to trap and release rattle snakes, rodents and other varmints found around the premises. I will, however, stomp out Black Widow spiders but further resolve to feel bad about it.

Well it has been a heel of a year. Lost both of my dogs, my brother and my next door neighbor. Also found out that I have prostate cancer. 2022 has to be better. Happy New Year

My resolution is to start back walking for exercise. When I did that in the past it really was beneficial…. no lower back pain, lower blood pressure, Right now, I’d head off to bed, but some folks in the larger neighborhood have decided to set off fireworks all night. Spouse says that if they had been in firefights as he was many many years ago, they’d never want to be around loud noises again.

I took me about 4 months into my retirement to realize that I should have retired 5 years before.

@Ilieitz:
You certainly deserve a kind and compassionate 2022. Here’s to that and to your beating the prostate cancer.

Thank you

Happy New Year all… well, in another 2+ hours here. :)

Crows and Squirrels? Grow a walnut tree, and let the battle begin.

@geg6:
I worked till just after my 72 birthday. I hope you get to retire early, because no one should have to work forever. I got my first job 60 yrs ago and that’s a long working life. Some days were good, some days not so much. It was still a long time. Oh well sometimes your plans for life don’t work out exactly the way you planned. Or even close. Best of luck!

Just send shipping,
I’ll send you squirrels til you tell me to stop.
( still not midnight here
…retire? I was always tired. Still am.

@Ilieitz:
I hope they caught it early because if they did you may not need surgery. Radiation with the modern machines can do wonders. Mine took 9 weeks, my buddy 3 yrs later did his in 10 days.
Best of luck!

I still have my grandfather’s crow silhouette decoys, and am still seriously offering to ship them to John Griffin Cole if he wants them, when I go back to my hometown in February. For free.

The
Forcemasochism is strong in this one. Thinking they’ll stay only on your property? Crows and squirrels laugh at fences.;)

@John Revolta:
Thank you, same to you.

I suspect that the hidden goal is to work with the opposites. If one tries to attract just about anything, including squirrels? perhaps they go far, far away.
Apparently I really wanted to get NotMax’s attention.

Happy New Year, everybody!

I heartedly approve of your crow resolution. I have been bonding to them throughout the pandemic. I supply the food , they display entertaining behaviors. Many have been lurking in my yard during the multi day freeze over here in Seattle. I recognize some of the regulars.

Peanuts in the shell works for both.

Friends with crows!?
Dude! Crows are EVIL!

I’ve been making distant buddies with the CA quail by giving them shelled sunflower seeds during this cold snap and generally feeding them and others all year. They are super wary and shy, but once this fall I was sitting in the dirt in the backyard and I watched them sit on top of the fence and discuss if it was safe to hit the food zone with me sitting 10′ away and they decided to very carefully feed but with two watch quail instead of the usual one. I count that as a success!
