AZ had over 20,000 new cases of COVID on Friday, and the state has officially requested President Biden send military paramedics to help with overflowing hospitals. Donald Trump is having a mask-free rally there today.

Newsmax aired hours of pre-rally coverage, with banners that called the channel the "4TH HIGHEST-RATED" on cable news. As someone who lived there for over a decade, this is not my first time saying that Arizona is basically Florida plopped down in the desert. Lots of retirees, snowbirds, people who are or were passin’ through, golf courses, conservatives, desperate people, and heat-induced weirdness and madness. Also, lots of good people of all stripes, who are hopefully beginning to outnumber the bad and/or crazy for good (this seems to be happening more quickly in AZ than FL at the moment).
Gosar does not look OK at all. A good chunk of his family seems to agree with this. Honestly, he needs help as much as he needs to stop spreading his lies and bullshit.
Looks like Trump was speaking in Florence, which is about an hour-plus out of central Phoenix and the home of a near-4000 capacity state prison. Quite fitting.

So what’re people using as a substitute for canned/pouched cat food? Are tins of sardines still on the low end of the scale where prices are concerned?
Noticed scads of dog foods at the market. There’s gotta be something from that selection that would satisfy, no?

I hate the guy, but what is going on with Gozar? That looks sad and serious
Edit… I see suggestions of Parkinson’s… he must have a very aggressive case.

Do the “750,000+” people who look at Newsmax magazine actually read?

Gosar looks as if he has some form of Parkinsonism with the twitching and odd head swaying and exaggerated movements. I had an aunt who suffered with Parkinson’s and Gosar reminds me of that.

Also thinking how sad and desperate The News Hour on PBS would look if their chryon said “4th Highest Rated Broadcast National News Network.” Fortunately, they know their niche and serve it proudly.

seems fitting he had a rally at a town that is supported by hosting a Federal pen… imagine his actually taking up residence one day soon.

AFAIK Dolt 45’s corporate planes are out of commission. No way he flies commercial. Whose private planes is he using? And if a paid charter who is footing the bill (no puzzle as who isn’t)?

Trump is pathologically obsessed with losing the election. If he gets back in office he will be pathologically obsessed with revenge. It’s going to be horrifying. Maybe that will get the attention of the great mass of Americans who don’t really give a shit about their country but I’m skeptical.

@Juju:
I know his siblings think poorly of him, but is there no wife or adult children who can… I don’t know, get him some help?
I guess Michael J. Fox is still doing things professionally, but he’s a beloved person. Gosar spreads lies and conspiracies and hatred. One is not inclined to look about him with patience and sympathy.

@NotMax: There’s just a metric fuckton of money on the far right. Many of them may not be willing any longer to give it to TFG directly, but fueling and dispatching a G550 from Florida for the ol’ gassbag? Barely even gets noticed on the black ledger.

His latest mewling is that there were “a million people” gathered on the Ellipse to worship him on January 6th. But every scintilla of evidence is being kept hidden because “they” (never specified) are “censoring” every photo and every foot of film and/or tape.
It’s sick.

@jeepers:
Not to belabor the obvious, but Trump has never admitted he lost at anything in his life and he wasn’t going to start just because he got his ass handed to him in a fair election. He is Donald Trump and he doesn’t lose – ever, at anything. Therefore if he lost it HAS to be because he was cheated – he is psychologically incapable of admitting otherwise, it’s essential to his ego and personality.
You are correct. If he is elected in 2020, and right now I wouldn’t bet against it*, his revenge tour – on everyone who ever opposed him in any way, including voting against him – will be a years-long Night of the Long Knives.
*”elected” through the efforts of his minions, whether he gets a majority of votes or not.

@West of the Rockies: One of the things about the modern GrOP is that they’re all grifters and thieves: no honor among them. So I can’t see anybody giving a damn about Gosar if he degenerates — they’d just discard him like used toilet paper. And good riddance, it’ll serve him right.

@WestTexan70: Because, like it or not, the 21st-century GOP has hitched itself to him, and if you’ve got a cult masquerading as a political party with a real chance of overthrowing the government, the doings of the leader of that cult are unfortunately newsworthy.

Overall, receipt of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination was associated with a substantial decrease in reporting the most common post-COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals who had received two doses reported no more of these symptoms than never infected individuals. Our results therefore suggest that receiving two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, at least the BnT162b2 mRNA vaccine used in Israel brings the incidence of such symptoms back to baseline. Commonly reported post-acute COVID-19 symptoms are not specific to COVID-19 and are commonly reported regardless of infection status. It is not therefore expected that any group would report 0 incidence of such symptoms. However, the absence of difference in symptoms frequency among those who received two doses and those who were never infected suggests the excess reporting of these symptoms associated with COVID-19 infection in unvaccinated individuals is eliminated by vaccination.

Gosar has been having pretty blatant neurological symptoms since at least 2015, when he had to put out a statement saying that his very noticeable hand spasms definitely weren’t from Parkinson’s but were due to a pinched nerve from all his years hunching over patients as a dentist. It seems like the press somewhat credulously accepted that and it didn’t come up much again till recently. But whatever’s going on now with his head and face is… not a pinched nerve.
Origuy
Hi, Anne Laurie. I’ve sent you a couple of emails about raising some money to help out my friend Susan, who had a big vet bill for one of her cats, Tabitha. I made a couple of posts a while ago and got some donations. I hoped with a front page bleg that had some cat pictures, I could get some more. Any chance of that?
Thanks

Biden should be going, “OK, we’ll send ’em, if you agree to do X, Y, and Z” with X,Y,Z being whatever vax and mask mandates the governor has the authority to implement, and/or giving the localities the go-ahead to implement their own mask and vax rules.
I’ve already had enough of this business of red states not doing jack shit to fight the plague, but calling for Federal help when it overwhelms them.
Bruce K in ATH-GR
@mrmoshpotato: I can’t wait for him to no longer be newsworthy, but I don’t see that happening while he’s still alive.
I long for the day when he is no longer spoken of in the present tense. Likewise for the political party he took over.

You can also feed a cat baby food. Gerbers does several meats. Mine likes ham. She has a sensitive stomach and throws up many foods which has made her a picky eater. She is old and can’t afford to lose more weight so I have been trying a lot of things the last few years. The shortages have been a trial. I have developed a list of on line shopping sources that I can check one after another till I find her food but the baby food is a fall back I have had to use a few times. She does not like canned tuna or most people food. Her exception is homemade lasagna. She tries to sneak mine.

RSBN is the “Right-Side Broadcast Network.” Just to save anyone the trouble of Googling it.
And given that Trump’s brand, if you will, is all about embodying permission to hate everyone different from them, anyone who considers them to be “jacked up on the Holy Spirit” is so far down the rabbit hole, it would take the Holy Spirit to pull them back out again. But even then, they’d have to want to come back out.
Gotta say, the religious wingnuts love their Antichrist.

@Hob: Yeah, pinched nerve my butt. Every person I’ve ever seen with a neck issue that called it a pinched nerve did as little neck movement as possible to avoid triggering pain, but Gosar looks like a bobblehead doll in a car on a rough road. It may not be as simple as “standard” Parkinson’s, but there’s something going on for sure and it likely has a mental health aspect as well.
Hob
One of the odder symptoms of the time we’re currently living in is that if you do a Google search for “Paul Gosar Parkinson’s” to see if others are talking about this, two of the top four results are for websites that at first glance look like they’re reposting news stories, but very soon after you start reading them, you realize these are nonsensical mash-ups created by bots for some kind of content farm.
