Baud
I was invited. I just had better things to do.
WaterGirl
@Baud: Be here with us?
Baud
@WaterGirl:
I don’t have to wear pants to hang out with you guys.
WaterGirl
@Baud: It’s true.
We are easy.We’re easy going.Old School
12:15 on a Friday afternoon?! It’s like they’re not even trying to make this into a good campaign event.
WaterGirl
@Old School: Ha!
Betty Cracker
In that photo, which is everywhere, KBJ’s lovely daughter reminds me of someone, but I can’t figure out who. It’s driving me nuts!
WaterGirl
From up top, i copied it from the Biden schedule page. Bolded part is what I would add.
WaterGirl
Starting now!
Is that LIVE music? It really is a celebration.
cain
@Betty Cracker:
Lisa Bonnet in her young days?
WaterGirl
Does Boney Carot only get counted as 3/5?
So maybe 3.6 women on the supreme court?
Steeplejack
@Betty Cracker:
Meghan Markle?
Betty Cracker
@cain: Hmm. Maybe that’s it.
TaMara
I see Biden is being divisive again. Telling it like it is about republican vileness.
cain
@Betty Cracker: Natalie Wood before she died?
cain
@TaMara: we really need to just dispense with this whole “friends across the aisle” bullshit. They have ever any genteel language with Democrats. I think we try to appeal to our “best nature” – we inevitably get stupid gotcha questions from the press about why we are so mean to the Republicans.
eclare
@Betty Cracker:
Zoe Kravitz?
Dangerman
Is it wrong of me to hope that Clarence Thomas’s seat becomes vacant just prior to the next election like RBG’s? Not for the same reason of course. I just want to watch the meltdown on the Right when they get payback for how they rushed through things for for ACB.
Steeplejack
Off topic, but I have to go out for a while, and this deserves to be seen.
Worthy GoFundMe cause here, sponsored by Akiva Cohen, for “legal aid to survivors of domestic violence.” This is legit (vouched for by @Popehat). Cohen:
I threw in some money, and I appreciate whatever anyone else can give.
Misterpuff
@Dangerman:
It’s wrong but come over and sit by me on the Group W bench.
trollhattan
@Dangerman: His hospitalization was a cruel tease, on the level of Trump’s. Ginny will have him dipped in resin and nailed to his SCOTUS chair if that’s what it comes to.
Mai Naem mobile
@Betty Cracker: Rosie Perez. At least the smile.
hells littlest angel
Well, that was pretty great.
I suppose Republicans will be issuing their rebuttal shortly.
stinger
Wiping a couple of tears myself, after Judge Jackson’s remarks. Especially poignant having just finished reading Blood Terminal by CC Edge (featured here on BJ a couple of weeks ago).
opiejeanne
@trollhattan: Has he been seen in public since he was released from the hospital?
WaterGirl
President Biden always chooses real human beings for the big positions, people with life and joy and personality. Quite a contrast to the other side. No, make that totally opposite from the other side.
catclub
@Betty Cracker:
My guess is a girl in the Cosby show.
WaterGirl
Interesting that Biden so strongly, and repeatedly, praised Dick Durbin for his role in getting this nomination through. I was as frustrated as anyone, but if all the stuff we hated is what it took to get this through with enough votes, maybe we should take our cue from Nancy SMASH.
Just win, baby!
sdhays
@Dangerman: It’s not worth the wait. If you’re going to hope for something like that, hope for it ASAP.
MazeDancer
Mr. Biden swagging out in his aviators and well-tailored suit, with KBJ on one side and the VP on the other.
“I made this happen,” he seemed to be saying. “And it is a Big Biden Deal!”
The speeches were all wonderful.
For a moment America is proud and free.

@Steeplejack: And as a recent Dateline documented, sometimes the abuser literally buries them and steals their identity for the new immigrant gf. Thanks for the heads up.
Omnes Omnibus
@WaterGirl: It’s like some of them have done this before.
TaMara
@MazeDancer: That was a perfect description.
Alison Rose ???
@cain: Lisa Bonet was my immediate thought the first time I saw her.
The Quiet One
Judge Jackson!! Yay. Just love typing that.
Question for the gang . Has anyone seen an interview with the judge Graham wouldn’t have liked nominated from his state? Wonder what she thinks of Senator Graham now!!!
WaterGirl
@catclub: That’s my guess, too. Definitely not Megan M.
Ken
I’m sure there will be a separate ceremony in the (former) Rose Garden, by invitation only to major party donors, where Judge Jackson will pledge her oath of fealty to President Biden and swear to take revenge on all those who offended her at the hearings. After which the flags and bunting from the event will be sold on eBay and the money given to the First Lady.
After all, we must uphold the traditions…
WaterGirl
@Omnes Omnibus: Pretty much!
lowtechcyclist
@Betty Cracker:
She isn’t reminding me of anyone, but damn, she’s good-looking. I’m drooling here.
lowtechcyclist
@Steeplejack:
Just tossed some shekels in the pot. Always happy to support a cause like this, and it’s got Popehat’s seal of approval.
Steeplejack
@lowtechcyclist:
Thanks—and thanks to any other jackals who contributed. The drive already hit $41,332, and Avika Cohen has bumped up the goal to $56,760 to fund the program full-time to September. Spread the word!
germy
@lowtechcyclist:
Jesus! You’re kidding, right? She’s 17.
zhena gogolia
@germy: Matt’s on break from the House floor //
WaterGirl
@germy: How would he know how old she is? I certainly had no idea. She could just as easily be 24.
SamIAm
@germy:
Maybe lowtechcyclist is 17. I think the median age on this blog is 55. But that doesn’t mean everyone is 55+
