Oh, how awful. So young. I liked her; RIP ?

Thanks to you and satby for the link to the obit.

Karla, who is the first person to sign the obituary, and who took in Mary G’s cats, is the Karla who took Mary G on the family cruise a few years ago.
I’m so glad Mary G had some a faithful friend.
The On the Road post about the cruise is in the link to classic Mary G posts in the sidebar.

Rest in Peace, Mary. Still shocked by your passing and miss your voice here.

Mary G was a wonderful person. It is great to see how many lives she touched.
Bex
You lived a courageous life and helped others. Rest in peace.

Mary G! A loving woman, her kindness knew no physical limitations, her heart soared until it no longer could. She lived her values and she was so, so adored here. https://youtu.be/5wh7ylJManI

Far too young to leave us. Hell, same age as me! Rest in peace and power, Mary G.

What a loss.
What a wonderful human being.

Karla (was her housemate and mom to the teenager) shared this with me:
eclare
@satby: That is very touching. I’m so glad she went peacefully.
JPL
She loved her wheelchair gardening, and the last several years, I do think she enjoyed helping a teenager navigate the world. She’ll be missed.
@satby: Now I’m in tears. ?
satby
@eclare: me too.

For succulent lovers, here’s Mary G’s contribution for On The Road. Link. It’s from her trip to Sherman Gardens and features their cacti and succulents. Plus entertaining and informative commentary from Mary G.
RIP. She was such a lovely person. Thanks for linking her obit.

@JPL: Yes, yes, yes and yes.
WaterGirl
I suspect we are all crying.

I counted 6 tributes to her from BJ Jackals that I recognized. It’s amazing how you can make connections with stories told beautifully even though you never connect in real life. She had that gift.

Thank you for this.
Mary was a very special person and we don’t usually get to met that many very special people in our lives. I’ve met a few in my seven decades so I count myself very, very lucky, because the very not special people out number them by miles. And yes I’ve met far too many very not special individuals. Mary made up for most of them but everyone has their limits.
waratah
I will miss Mary
laura
@Ruckus ??: You said it so well- and it takes one to know one. This most recent and cruel loss and forces a counting of blessings. This is a nice place to hang and it is filled with all of you all and you know who you are and you know what you’ve done and I thank you. I’m also thinking about the Imms big and small and keeping a candle in the window until everyone gets home safe.
eclare
@laura: Has anyone heard from the Imms lately?
Baud
@eclare:
It’s been a week. Worrisome.
Steeplejack
RIP, Mary G. ?
“Into the Mystic.”
Raven
@eclare: I wrote him an email last week and have not heard back.
eclare
@Raven: Thanks. Damn.
Ruckus ??
@laura:
Why thank you, you are too kind.
I’m no Mary, of that there is no doubt of anyone. But I try.
You make this place better as well. I have to say that over the last few years this place has been my go to. A place to go when you want to sing, to cry or to just wonder why, or why not. More a home than many have had, more a sewing circle for those that don’t sew, more than a club house with no dress code – or even dresses required, and a place that can see someone pay over 10 times the price of a beautiful piece of art, to help people they likely don’t know and will never meet. Damn am I lucky they let any one in this establishment.
Raven
@eclare: I must say it is not uncommon for him not to reply quickly.
Ruckus ??
@Steeplejack:
Thank you for this reminder of a song that is one of my favs. A simple song of life and living.
Raven
@Ruckus ??: Too bad he’s such a dickhead.
debbie
@Raven:
The song deserved a better messenger.
Baud
@Raven:
Oh, I thought you were talking about Steeplejack.
Ruckus ??
@Raven:
No one is perfect, he’s just farther away from a reasonable level of OK. Or shorter, dickhead works…….
Steeplejack
@Baud:
So did I ! [Jack Benny “Well!”]
WaterGirl
@Ruckus ??: I have lost the train… who is the dickhead?
eclare
@WaterGirl: Van Morrison
WaterGirl
@eclare: Huh. I had never heard that before. thanks.
Steeplejack
@WaterGirl:
He’s one of those guys whose dickheadedness didn’t come out until later in his career.
debbie
@eclare:
Not Sting?
ETA No matter, they’re both dickheads.
eclare
@debbie: The link was to a Van Morrison video
Steeplejack
@eclare:
And we didn’t use the Sting version of “Fields of Gold.” C’mon, man!
debbie
@eclare:
Got my threads twisted; thought everyone was referring to Fields of Gold on the auction thread. ?
Wyatt Salamanca
@Raven:
@Ruckus ??:
When it comes to great musicians who are also dickheads, Van Morrison has some company – Eric Clapton with his anti-vaccine screeds and Roger Waters with his moronic take on the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Unfortunately, individuals are fully capable of producing amazing, iconic works of art while also expressing reprehensible and despicable ideas.
satby
@Steeplejack: A perfect tune for the occasion. Thanks for that.
Steeplejack
@satby:
?
Odie Hugh Manatee
Thanks. I’m glad she went the way she wanted. Rest in peace, Mary.
Ruckus ??
@Wyatt Salamanca:
Exactly.
Omnes Omnibus
Is this place the blog that was mentioned? I am not sure I know how to process that. She told me she liked my music links. I am glad they made her happy since this place meant that much to her. Did it get a little dusty in here all of sudden?
satby
@Omnes Omnibus: yes, this is the blog mentioned.
