“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

I really should read my own blog.

Bad news for Ron DeSantis is great news for America.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

I have come to greatly respect Pete Buttigieg for his work as Transportation Secretary, but it’s still objectively hilarious that his Mini-Me here is the star of Young Sheldon.

This day just gets more and more fun! Great to meet you, Mr Mayor! @PeteButtigieg – @Chasten are you here?! pic.twitter.com/TEufTZmVjS

I actually like Young Sheldon a lot, and I was not a fan of Big Bang.

That selfy kinds of thrills me, because the young actor seems to know who Mayor Pete is and because Mayor Pete knows who the kid is.

Kid doesn’t look like himself in selfies, but that is okay. Probably useful survival in real world for child actors.

@sab: Kid’s actual real name is Morton. His father is a Scot.

Stage last name is Armitage from mother, because his grandfather is Richard Armitage. Apparently kid has no problem being associated with the guy who outed Valery Plame.

I am a fount of misinformation this morning. His dad was a British actor not a Bush government guy.

Lily Tomlin is a national treasure. I hope I am recalling correctly, but I think on one of her TV specials she did a tribute to her hometown, Detroit, that turned into an unexpected and hilarious musical sketch.

Jane Fonda is also pretty damned creative. Two Oscars. Not two shabby.

Idle thought: Why haven’t we seen more references to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes ?

Fun to see Lily and Jane first thing. This weekend I binge watched the final episodes of Grace and Frankie, and I’m feeling a little bereft knowing that’s it. Love those two.

Those wildfires in New Mexico look pretty bad. I hope Quinerly is doing OK. So far it looks like areas to the west of Santa Fe near Jemez Springs and to the east near Mora and Las Vegas are seeing the worst. I think Quinerly is south of the city.

@Geminid: @Cheryl Rofer has information on the New Mexico fires. Mora, northeast of Santa Fe is being evacuated, and highways are now limited to evacuation only. There is a bad fire in Sandoval County near Jemez Springs and the Valle Grande. There is another fire in Ms. Rofer’s area, within 9 miles of Los Alamos Lab propert but the fire looks like it is headed away from the Lab.

    Great post, thanks, Anne Laurie!

Iain is probably happy just to get to smile, since his character is usually either frowning in concentration or frowning at not understanding other people’s emotions.

@Brachiator: “Lily Tomlin is a national treasure.”

The 1970s were a golden age of women comedians. Lily Tomlin, Madeleine, Kahn, SNL…plus Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett were still active.
