Jen Psaki leaves the White House after holding 224 briefings — more than all of Trump's press secretaries combined https://t.co/9uH4EplrpV

Jen Psaki is the most talented, quick-thinking White House Press Sec. of a lifetime, and that goes back a way. She'll be missed. @PressSec @WhiteHouse https://t.co/z28CQZfmVJ

Thank you @PressSec for being the absolute best boss. We’ll miss you so much.https://t.co/BsmBGuQg11

I am honored that @POTUS trusted me to speak on his behalf. The @WhiteHouse is about the people. I am deeply grateful to the public servants (including my faves on the press team) who have made this job the experience of a lifetime. You've got this @KJP46! Quick thinking doesn’t even begin to describe Jen. She played those vultures like a violin (pick your type).
Baud
First in her class.
zhena gogolia
So sad, but her successor looks really good. We’re going to friends for dinner (rare event), so I’ll have to watch these clips later.
germy
I always admired how well she did her homework. Always ready with facts to answer the questions of reporters who clearly hadn’t done their homework.
WaterGirl
I wanted to write this post but I was pretty sure I would start crying. I am so sad to see her go, but we were totally blessed to have her.
Dangerman
Trump had Press Secretary’s? Missed them.
I know he had someone to “press his pants”; maybe that is what they meant.
Villago Delenda Est
More press conferences in 16 months than TFG’s worthless hacks held in four effing years. And she pwned Douchy like 200 times. Theon Greyjoy was less pwned that Douchy.
AxelFoley
Jen Psaki da GOAT ?
Cameron
Was the trope ‘like a boss’ invented for her?
Ken
Are we going to have a pool, to guess which WH reporter will be the first to try dominance games with Karine Jean-Pierre? And “All of them” is not an acceptable answer.
(Maybe “dominance games” is the wrong word. It will be more like when the regular teacher is out, and the second-graders push their luck with the substitute.)
Cameron
@Dangerman: Please don’t conjure up any more images of that dude and people doing….something….to his pants. Thanks.
Villago Delenda Est
@Ken: Reek will try it first. He’ll be slapped down. Then some other Fauxbot will try it. And they will be slapped down.
germy
I’m sorry I had to laugh at this:
Villago Delenda Est
@germy: What a pathetic little Nazi sack of shit she is.
JPL
@Villago Delenda Est: Seconded.
trollhattan
Good people. Now the standard against which to compare any press sec.
egorelick
I’m just sad I never saw her do “the jackal”.
WaterGirl
@Villago Delenda Est: Who is Reek?
WaterGirl
@germy: Please, everyone, don’t give Boebert twitter any clicks. She is piggybacking on the Psaki news to get clicks. I suggest that we don’t play into her game.
edit: for those who won’t click, you can describe it to us.
Betty Cracker
Psaki is the best press secretary of my lifetime. I will miss her.
Ken
It does occur to me that in fairness, any of us could be said to have held as many WH press briefings as Trump’s press secretary during the — what was it? — last year of his term.
SpaceUnit
Definitely my fav in this administration.
Going to miss her slapping certain members of the press corps in the face with The Mackerel of Truth.
Omnes Omnibus
KJP is going to be different but just as good.
thruppence
@WaterGirl: Reek was Theon Greyjoy in GOT after many … unpleasant … things were done to him
Sure Lurkalot
@germy: I’m seriously embarrassed to live in the same state as that bobble head and those who put her unqualified ass in Congress.
I can’t imagine having the Press Secretary gig…the stress and preparation day in day out not to mention the thick skin you need to keep your composure. I think Jen was amazing, I have so much admiration for her and hope her future is as bright as a super nova.
Ohio Mom
@Omnes Omnibus: As I recall, the first reviews of Psaki around here were decidedly mixed. Not everyone was particularly impressed.
I’ll miss Psaki but I’m eager to see KJP’s approach.
Dangerman
@germy: The current situation is really such a shame; I would welcome listening to reasonable arguments about tax policy, immigration policy, maybe even gun control (NOT Roe; nothing there to discuss). This “who loves America” shit is damn dangerous.
Another Scott
I liked her from the first day. (roughly) “We’ll be having briefings here every day. Not on the weekends, of course – I am not a monster.”
She was very, very good. I’m sure she’ll do very, very well in her post-government work as well.
Cheers,
Scott.

@debbie:
And also occasionally slapped those vultures with the violin.
SpaceUnit
Here’s hoping we’ll see Jen’s name on a ballot somewhere down the road.
I’d vote for her so hard I’d probably break my finger.
dexwood
@mrmoshpotato: Would have preferred a large fish.
WaterGirl
@Another Scott: It feels like that was yesterday.
Another Scott
In other news, the Ukrainian Post Office online store seems finally to be back up.
https://postmark.ukrposhta.ua/
It looks like they don’t have the famous stamp listed, but they have other stamps, magnets, shirts, sweatshirts, etc.
$1 = 29.5 UAH at the moment according to Xe.com, so the prices seem impossibly low. Don’t know about shipping costs – haven’t gotten that far yet.
Cheers,
Scott.
mrmoshpotato
@dexwood: Yes, but I’m not sure how she would have played those vultures like a large fish.
UncleEbeneezer
From the very beginning, I felt like Psaki truly embodied the difference between parties and how they value women.
Our side: intelligence, communication skills, independence, strength, empathy.
Gop: nothing more than tactless bitterness and ignorance, dressed up of course, in restrictive, traditional gender role.
MomSense
@Cameron:
I’m going with Bad Ass Bitch
Definition from
Urban Dictionary
“Bad ass bitch is a female who will not take any bullshit from ANYONE. A Bad Ass Bitch is a women who is strong, Gorgeous, smart,and funny. If a Bad Ass Bitch encounters someone who is talking slick out they mouth she will put them in their place. Bad Ass Bitches DO NOT give a fuck who you are they will fix you up.
Other girls; “You see that girl right there. She’s a Bad Ass Bitch so dont mess with her. She’s gorgeous and will put you in your place”
MomSense
@Omnes Omnibus:
She’s smooth but fierce. I’m excited to see what she does in this role.
Remember when she took care of someone who rushed the stage while she was interviewing Kamala Harris? She is a formidable woman.
Jay
@WaterGirl:
an anti nazi trick is to screenshot, so that links don’t “go there” and drive traffic.
WaterGirl
@Jay: Absolutely! Except germs couldn’t post a photo here!
Baud
@WaterGirl:
Like the new nickname.
Skepticat
YES. She may have been the best press secretary ever and one of Biden’s best appointments. I shall miss her so much, though her successor seems very good.
cain
I’m not looking forward to what these idiots are going to do with a black woman at the podium. You know the rules will suddenly change – pearl clutchings over everything.
Gin & Tonic
@Another Scott: I’m still waiting for my stamps.
JPL
The best.
WaterGirl
@Baud: Autocorrect is relentless about changing germy to germs.
But yeah, let’s go with the nickname so I can stop battling with autocorrect!
Jay
@WaterGirl:
yes, us germs can’t, but we can take a screenshot, post it to imagour(sp) , or other such sites, describe the content, and if somebody wants, go to the new link of the screenshot.
it also works if the ratioed moron deletes the twit or other type of post.
Spanky
@cain: I look forward to pointing out the pearl clutchers, and calling them what they are.
WaterGirl
@UncleEbeneezer:
It’s all true and I just wanted to see it again.
Baud
@WaterGirl:
For me it’s:
Manchin → Machine
In → on
On → in
WaterGirl
@Jay: Yep. that’s what we’re recommending to the folks participating in the social media initiative.
It’s a no-brainer. Do not push the enemy up the charts on social media.
Jay
@mrmoshpotato:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T8XeDvKqI4E
the fish slapping alluded to
CarolPW
@Baud: OT, but Lyle Lovett’s new album has a song Pants is Overrated that always makes me think of you and many other BJ commenters.
Starfish
@WaterGirl: You are right, she is trying to ride current events into more engagement.
Boebert’s tweet has a picture of Trump’s press secretary Kayleigh McEnany wearing too much make up, as usual. Being Trump’s press secretary was super hard because he had no consistent message and lied to everyone and treated everyone with disdain, so no one could trust his press secretary to a) not also lie or b) know what was actually going on. But like other people in the thread have mentioned, Trump’s press secretaries did not even bother to do the job.
SiubhanDuinne
@egorelick:
Okay, that really made me laugh! Out loud!
Ken
@Starfish: Oh, I get it. When Boebert says “loves America”, she means it in the sense of 1984 when Winston learns to accept whatever lies the state puts out, and thus comes to love Big Brother.
SiubhanDuinne
@Baud:
All those, plus:
Love/lovely —> Live/lively
Live/lively —> Love/lovely
Luck —> Lick
Baud
@CarolPW:
Nice. I’ll have to check it out.
mrmoshpotato
@Jay: I know.
Another Scott
Meanwhile, …
Short thread.
Interesting. Make them own it has a lot of appeal. (There’s no risk of it becoming law because the House would never pass it (and it wouldn’t in the Senate either), but they need to get the details right.)
(via nycsouthpaw)
Cheers,
Scott.
Baud
@Another Scott:
Why would Republicans vote against it?
WaterGirl
@Baud: Autocorrect used to fight me on Omnes, but I finally won that one!
Baud
@WaterGirl:
How did you get autocorrect to stop changing it to asshole?
Omnes Omnibus
@Another Scott: No, even if it is just for symbolic purposes, I don’t thing our side should advance bills we don’t want to pass.
MagdaInBlack
@Omnes Omnibus: Agreed. Not something to be playing around with.
West of the Rockies
@WaterGirl:
I hate how Autocorrect stumbles when the first letter of a word is wrong. For example, I intend psychology but write bsychology and Autocorrect can’t possibly fathom what word I intend.
CaseyL
@MomSense:
I remember the incident, but didn’t remember that the tackler was Jean-Pierre. Oh, this is gonna be fun.
Another Scott
@Baud: Particular ones might need to think about it (he cites Johnson in comments in the thread) for supposed fear of alienating “moderates” that they need to win. Every seat matters, especially now.
But, I dunno. If that’s a concern, they’d try to find a way to kill it before it even comes to a vote. “Schumer was mean to someone, so we’re not going to vote on it.”
At the moment, anything that reinforces the idea that the GOP is now the GQP and UltraMAGA and all the rest, and that the Democrats are the sane party (California has a $97+B surplus) is probably a good thing.
It’s an interesting thought experiment (one of many that Schumer may have thought about many times over the years).
Cheers,
Scott.
Ken
@MagdaInBlack: Especially since the, oh, 60% of the electorate who are
moronscommon clay of the new west might believe the Republican ads saying “The Democrat party tried to ban abortion nationally, but Republicans stopped them.”Baud
@Ken:
Oh God, I can hear Rose Twitter now.
Ruckus ??
@cain:
This is likely but.
I don’t think she’ll let them get away with it. She’s seen Jen in action if nothing else (and she has plenty of else) and will be gracious and rip them new ones at the same time. Jen had this almost mother with young kids attitude as she eviscerated them and sent them to their rooms. Karine will likely take a slightly different tack that could eviscerate them just as badly. She’s smart and has a very good example to follow. I’d bet she’s every bit as good.
MagdaInBlack
@Ken: Yes! I was thinking of exactly that, the republican messaging coming out of that kind of stunt.
WaterGirl
One neat trick.
Roger Moore
@Jay:
It also keeps a record in case they decide to delete the tweet, which has been known to happen.
Jay
@mrmoshpotato:
I know, that you know, that you know that I know,
but you really can’t have too many Monty Python clips,…..
Geminid
@MagdaInBlack: Also, most voters just wouldn’t pay attention to a Senate vote like that. Not like they’ll pay attention to Roe being overturned.
sab
@Geminid: You are wrong abot Roe v Wade being overturned. I have been rhrough those pregnancy scares. More even have been through abortions. Not a thing to talk about it but something to remember voting.
cain
@Spanky:
I look forward to mocking them :-)
She’ll need our help!
Jay
Open thread, still in a Corporate “time out”,
So I am catching up on sleep, threads, gonna try to start on laundry tomorrow,
Still have no clue what I may or may not have done “wrong”.
I figure that it’s going to drag out another week, ( part time “witnesses”, 2 HR staff),
On the bright side, today was sunny, ( so usual shit show), a sunny weekend forecast, and I don’t have to be there.
Geminid
@CaseyL: Jean-Pierre showed guts when she got between the angry man-bunned vegan and Senator Harris. He was a big guy and he still reached past, took Harris’ mike from her, and started talking about farming practices as Harris left the stage.
The guy did not talk long before a couple men grabbed him. One of them was Doug Emhoff, whose face was red as a beet. If it had been another time and place, Mr. Manbun would have had his ass kicked. Emhoff was furious.
marcopolo
@Another Scott: This would be good. Might also work to pass a bill that restricts states from making contraception (all kinds) illegal.
Starfish
@MomSense: Ooh, I did not remember that.
persistentillusion
@germy: She’s robo-called me multiple times: I don’t live in her district. I just called her a stupid trout on twitter. Will she block me (oh, please gods, yes)?
japa21
@persistentillusion:
My wife’s name for her in Bibbity-Bobbity Boebert
persistentillusion
@japa21: Very good! Because “stupid blob of protoplasm animated only by bile” doesn’t roll of the tongue the same way.
currawong
Jen Psaki is the best Press Secretary I’ve ever seen.
That’s it. That’s the comment.
ps good to see they spell focused with only one ‘s’.
MagdaInBlack
@japa21: I think I love your wife ?
Villago Delenda Est
@WaterGirl:
In this case, Reek is Peter Doocy. Which is why I drew the GOT analogy. Poor Theon. At least he went out a hero.
Villago Delenda Est
@Baud: The denizens of Rose Twitter might as well be MAGAts.
Another Scott
@Another Scott: Twitter dick_nixon disagrees…
Heh.
Cheers,
Scott.
BellyCat
Did not know Jen has a 4 year old. My respect is multiplied thousandfold.
How do we convince her to run for President?
