To repeat: I’m an aggregator, not an expert…
Ukraine is gathering the bodies of dead Russian soldiers strewn among the rubble of formerly occupied towns and trying to verify their identities in the hope of exchanging them for prisoners of war https://t.co/3HJl45UgnE pic.twitter.com/tch6NVeSOa

Analysis: For Davos regulars, more accustomed to talking about global interconnectedness than geopolitical ruptures, the Ukraine war brings an unusual moral edge. https://t.co/KeZkfVdkd9

There is not a lot of joy in this world at the moment, so I should spend more time appreciating the hilarity provided by American social conservatives disappointed by the floundering of Putin’s manly man army in Ukraine.

Russian officers are dying at a pace unseen since Stalingrad because their comms are lousy, small units aren't allowed to improvise and morale is in the toilet as they get shredded by US-supplied weapons but in ChudWorld it just means that they're living the Fight Club Dream. pic.twitter.com/Xtwt35BC88

How many russian generals does it take to win a war?
3.
1 to lose the war.
1 to shoot the general who lost the war & deny that russia lost the war.
1 to support denial that russia lost war & inform russians that russia won the war, and to lead russia's victory parade.

First, I hope the Ukrainian General Staff got my message that it was fine with me to abandon Severodonetsk and fall back to the line of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
Strategic withdrawal has always been an acceptable maneuver in trading space for time…Really, I give my permission….(grin)
Be that as it may, a number of people are questioning this defense of Severodonetsk…maybe surprisingly, but also maybe not, Kos himself has analysed this pretty completely…I think we both still wonder about the wisdom of this…if wisdom it be.
Kos is the current essential read on this question. Please find it here:

Am I mistaken, or is The Moscow Times not using the Russian Severodonetsk instead of the Ukrainian Sievierodonetsk?

I don’t understand what the fuck Macron is thinking when he’s pimping for peace, and that’s all he’s doing, being Putin’s bitch. If someone can throw a pie in Bill Gate’s face, then someone can get in Macron’s and demand to know how he would have compromised with Hitler. This is the exact same thing, and at least some of Europe is failing for a second time.

Fucking Twitter. I see this post from Finland’s Kateryna Kruk: “I can already see how ru propaganda tv shows are having a meltdown over this photo.”

She’s standing beside Zelenskyy, I assume, in his office. Her courage is mentioned, but the thread quickly devolves into whether she’s wearing makeup or not.

AL, aggregator or expert, you’re still the best!

Can’t find the link now, but supposedly that Russian general who got shot down was retired and was working as a mercenary.
Top Gun: Maverickski!
Nina
The general who was shot down had been forcibly retired from the military because (from the rumors I read) he liked to take planes he wasn’t trained on out for joyrides, and he crashed an expensive one. Here’s a story that alludes to that.
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-ukraine-botashev-commander-killed-1709596
He was working for Wagner group, presumably because he didn’t manage to steal enough to cover the cost of the last plane he wrecked.

‘@debbie – That’s Finland’s PM, Sanna Marin. Katerina Kruk is Ukrainian, just reporting on it. Your post seems to mix them up.

‘@Gin & Tonic:
You’re right of course. I was trying to pick up who she was from the tweets rather than Googling for it. Sorry.

‘@debbie – No problem, I’m just trying to make sure others understand who’s who.
