Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself. We’re allowed to grow past that.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Can we lighten up on the doomsday scenarios?

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

It’s not hopeless, and we’re not helpless.

Please don’t feed the bears.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

Siri, what was “HUAC?” And please explain why Republicans spent years talking about Benghazi https://t.co/2r1kUzjSdq

In a particularly low move, Matt Gaetz attacked January 6th committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin as being “unable” to do his job due to losing his own child to suicide.

Seeing as how now traitors wefe.on the committee, I think it’s the most legitimate committee ever.

Caught McCarthy on the evening news doing his best impression of a jellyfish. What a feckless imbecile!

You just know that seditious Republicans will try to disrupt these hearings. Maybe Empty Greene will show up wearing a dynamite vest.

It’s amazing and appalling how each successive GOP House leader has managed somehow to be worse than his (always _his_) predecessor.

I think I’ve heard Kevin’s argument before. A twist where the first time is farce….

    @Mike in NC:

My Annoying Right-Wing Nut Job Brother sent me a video of MTG speechifying on the House floor today.

There are all kinds of things wrong with it, but the funniest is when she rants about “fragrant” violations of law. Right up there with her “peach tree dishes” and “gazpacho police.”

I guess the fact that the Republicans are in full monkey-house poo-flinging mode is a sign they’re actually worried.

@dmsilev:  Never thought I’d see the day when John Boehner looked remotely decent, in hindsight.

When asked about his previous statement that Trump bears responsibility for Jan. 6, @GOPLeader now says, “I think everyone in the country was responsible.”

And this is from something that calls itself the “Republican Accountability Project.”

Irony just gave up and left the building.

I just know already that I will somehow manage to be truly surprised at just how low the GOP will go during this week, and this from a party that defends and justifies the continued public service of rapists and murderers on a daily basis.

Sorry, the tear-gassing in June is not even remotely as traumatizing as jackholes beating capitol police and looting the halls of congress.

Now I’m really hoping those prosecutors can wrap Gaetz up tight! It looks like they are close, but we may not find out until August.

There are plenty of despicable Republicans in Congress, including my own, but Gaetz is the worst I think.

I don’t really care what low level ball-less shits like McCarthy or Gaetz or MTG blurble out on a podcast. Fuck them no one realy listens to them and we’d never even know about what they said were it not for Political Junkie social media posts.

So far, tonight is so good that if it’s all an average American who’s too busy with life to be a political jukie sees of these hearings it’s incredibly smart, moving and damning.
