Huh. It looks like Ivanka wasn’t so “checked out” of her father’s attempt to illegally cling to power after all, according to the recently surfaced Holder documentary footage. She was still cheering on her odious father’s attempt to overturn the election in a portion of the film reviewed by The New York Times.
The Times notes that Ivanka sang a different tune during the January 6 committee interview, when she appeared in the form of a weeping stone cemetery angel* to say that she accepted Bill Barr’s conclusion that Trump had lost fair and square. Barr expressed that more than a week before Ms. Trump made far more pugnacious comments for the documentary.
I love how this graf starts out in the familiar tone of the many PR shop-concocted “Javanka privately opposed” tidbits the “paper of record” spoon fed to the public during Hair Furor’s reign of terror:
People close to Ms. Trump have insisted that she had distanced herself from what was taking place around her father at that time. Those people have said that, after the race was called for Joseph R. Biden Jr., Ms. Trump began focusing on winding down her office and looking toward a new life in Miami.
Yet in the video with the filmmaker, Ms. Trump, describing her father’s gains in votes among key demographic groups, had a different reaction when asked whether she had a “take” on her father’s “very clear position on the results and what’s going on.”
“I think that, as the president has said, every single vote needs to be counted and needs to be heard, and he campaigned for the voiceless,” Ms. Trump replied. “And I think a lot of Americans feel very, very disenfranchised right now, and really, question the sanctity of our elections, and that’s not right, it’s not acceptable.”
“The voiceless”? JFC lady, Trump supporters never shut the fuck up! And to this day — even after being outnumbered by millions of other voters in two elections, after Tangerine Baal fomented a violent coup, after he and his henchmen completed the Republican Party’s conversion to a white Christian nationalist cult — the Beltway media still revolves around the demented, loud-mouthed cultists. Also, “disenfranchised”? Trump supporters are the most enfranchised motherfuckers on the planet. The Times:
She went on, “And he has to take on this fight. Look, you fight for what you love the most and he loves this country and he loves this country’s people, and he wants to make sure that their voice is, is heard and not muted.”
She said that he “will continue to fight until every legal remedy is exhausted and that’s what he should do.”
“Muted.” As fucking IF. Oh well. Maybe this counterprogramming will be a stick in the spokes of the Ivanka and Jared rehab tour rickshaw. That’s probably the only justice we can expect for America’s most high-profile white power couple.
