Yesterday one of two compromised Secret Service agents, Tony Ornato and Robert Engel, one of whom (Ornato) became a Trump aide for a time, was more than likely the “anonymous source” who ran to a credulous hack and became part of the MAGA pushback and tarring of Cassidy Hutchinson. Remember, all Hutchinson said under oath is that Ornato told her the story. She didn’t testify as an eyewitness.
Also, yesterday, Ginni Thomas, through her lawyer, said she’d changed her mind and won’t testify under oath after all.
So in the actions of Thomas, we see the gameplan. Make a headline and then let the truth out on the back page a few weeks later.
Unfortunately for us and the nation, the god damned DC Press Corpse is more easily distractible than a ten week old puppy, so they’ll run this Jesus take the wheel horseshit into the ground, while ignoring the bigger story. The reasons are many, including a fanatical devotion to “both sides”, but the one I despise is laziness. A reporter would actually have to talk to an expert and learn something to realize it’s Trump’s intention to go to the Capitol, not grabbing the wheel, that is the real issue here. Instead, we’re going to have stories on the inner dimensions of the SUV, Trump’s reach, etc. In addition to laziness, part of the problem is the ghoulish fixation that they have on assassination and presidential protection. A still bigger issue is the Stockholm syndrome of formerly bullied nerds that leads to veneration of supposed tough guys like Secret Service agents.
The bottom line is a big part of the reason that Democrats’ talking points and positions don’t get any traction is because the so-called liberal media is not on the side of truth, but rather on the side of their mostly white, mostly male media privilege. They think this privilege will be retained in the coming Reich: in that sense, they’re like Republican women who are just now understanding that their ectopic pregnancy could lead to death under the new Canon law that they gleefully supported. Unfortunately for our self-appointed disinterested arbiters of truth, if the MAGAts take over, the mainstream media will be among the first to be strung up by the Proud Boys and Gravy Seals.
Anyway, my point is that Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony will be challenged if and only if one of these clowns goes under oath and swears to a different version of the story. Until then, we should pay them no heed, and certainly not grant them anonymity to tell their lies.

Yesterday was a good day because the crack in the wall that had been opened up by the Jan 6 committee got a whole lot bigger, in my opinion.
Today is a good day, too. More on that later.
I hope I am not jinxing anything by saying this is a good day, because my little Henry goes in for allergy testing in a few minutes – they will sedate him and do 72 (!) tiny little injections to see what he is most allergic to. He was scheduled for this two weeks ago on a day with a heat index of 112, so I cancelled that morning because that was not a day to stress the body of any living thing, particular a little one.
That is all.
ETA: TaMara here, Watergirl just sent me a photo of Henry to add to the post, LOL. They’re heading in the vet’s now.

… FDA scientists at the meeting suggested they preferred vaccines that will target the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants that are currently dominant rather than the BA.1 Omicron variant that led to a massive surge in infections last winter.
Dr. Peter Marks, director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said the regulator would hope to launch a booster campaign with a retooled vaccine by October.
“The better the match of the vaccines to the circulating strain we believe may correspond to improved vaccine effectiveness, and potentially to a better durability of protection,” Marks told the meeting of outside expert advisers to the agency…
Dr. Kanta Subbarao, representing a World Health Organization advisory committee that also considered the issue, said she preferred BA.1-based vaccines, suggesting they could generate a broader immune response because that variant is more distinct from the original virus than its successor subvariants…
Both Moderna and Pfizer have said that their respective BA.1 inclusive vaccines generated a better immune response against Omicron than their current shots that were designed for the original virus that emerged from China.
They have said their new vaccines also appear to work against BA.4 and BA.5, but that protection is not as strong as against BA.1.
The International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities, a group of global drug regulators that includes the FDA, will meet to discuss the issue on Thursday.

As I’ve said, my husband and I agree on politics in general, but he doesn’t follow it closely. He’s not on social media, doesn’t read political journals or books, blogs, newspaper articles, analysis, etc., about politics. Basically, he just shows up to vote (always for Democrats).
That makes him a pretty good gauge for the “normie” view, albeit a left-leaning normie. Anyhoo, he thought yesterday’s hearing was blockbuster stuff. The poor guy works with wingnuts, so he’ll have a report for me on how the events landed with that set later.
Thought this might be worth sharing because he almost always thinks I overestimate how Republican malfeasance will be perceived by the general public, and he’s almost always right about that. This time, he believes the party might have incurred real damage. Here’s hoping.

Seriously: they’re professional, globe-trotting CHUZ LYFE! grifters. They could certainly afford to adopt a baby, individually or as a couple — and they could probably find a suitable infant in their home countries, if they really cared — but they’re standing outside the Supreme Court, taunting American women whose personal autonomy has just been stolen, because it’s good for their brand.
I haven’t checked for a ‘Christian’ GoFundMe clone page, because ugh. But the real dollar value for these two is showing this photo, and its million social-media repeats, to deep-pocket donors looking for professional representation in the anti-autonomy sphere.
(that was a rhetorical question – the couple outside the supreme court with the “we will adopt your baby” sign is sebastian schuff and neydy casillas. they cannot actually adopt your baby because neither of them are US citizens) pic.twitter.com/NUC7yvH1M8
