On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
We are in the Olympic Peninsula this week with PaulB. What a beautiful and amazing place!
Major thanks to PaulB for sharing it with us, and double-thanks for submitting them twice – once before the fire and once after.
Speaking of which, I am not sure exactly when we will be merging all the sites, so I have a suggestion. If you guys have photo sets to submit, and I hope you do, I wonder if it would make sense to pull your photos together, write your introductions and anything you want to say about each photo, but not actually use the form to submit them yet.
You can even send me an email message to let me know that you have your set (or series) ready to go, and I’ll use that as a placeholder in the OTR queue so you won’t lose your place in line. That way you can (hopefully) submit them only once!
Thoughts on that?

On the final day of the trip, I took a leisurely drive along the Lake Quinault Loop Drive, a 30+ mile drive around the lake. The road varied from two-lane paved to single-lane gravel and potholes abounded, so I had to be careful. The sights were worth the trouble, though.
