Spousal Unit grew up there, so I’ve been a visitor for many years. Winters can be challenging, but Grand Traverse Bay (and The Bear golf course) have turned it into a Midwestern resort destination. I can imagine it has many charms as a place to raise a young family.
I can particularly imagine it’s a good place for this couple to raise their young kids, because there’s nothing like having your family around to ensure that you know and are known by the community. And there’s an additional benefit, I suspect, to having your home in a state where a Democratic governor and a Democratic attorney general are both fiercely committed to civil rights for all families!
