President Biden Delivers Remarks on the Successful Counterterrorism Operation
Since Biden will be announcing the Al-Zawahiri killing tonight it’s a good time to repost this gem pic.twitter.com/F7i5hLQKZM

Let’s listen to the President:

Also, it’s been decades since I watched The Sound of Music.
Dan B
@HumboldtBlue: Yep, a gem.
WaterGirl
@HumboldtBlue: That was so good, I had to add it up top.
Ihop
Time for a little poetic license misquoting of bette Davis.
But I know its unfair not to say something good about al-zawahiri.
So, Ayman is dead.
Good.

@WaterGirl: @Dan B:
Her first reaction to Trump kills me every time.

starting now!

President Biden:
We left Afghanistan.
I told you we will, can and will always make good on the pledge to address threats even after leaving Afghanistan.
We just did that. I told you so.
SpaceUnit
I would have preferred that they’d dropped an anvil on the guy but whatever.
Alison Rose 💙🌻💛
@SpaceUnit: Or to borrow a phrase from one of my favorite movies, smear him with honey and tie him to a red ant hill.
Major Major Major Major
Good riddance to bad rubbish!

@Alison Rose 💙🌻💛:
That would work as well.
Sister Golden Bear
TalkingTwittering heads informing us how this is bad news for Biden in 3, 2, 1…bbleh
So who wants to play right-wing excuses bingo? On my board:
— He looked old and tired
— It was Trump’s plan and he just executed it
— Fake news
— We have to see the long-form death certificate
— Just an attempt to distract from Hunter Biden

@Sister Golden Bear:
Doug J has already posted the following:

@Major Major Major Major: you are Ouiga Boarding my dead father with that phrase.
mrmoshpotato
@HumboldtBlue: Gross. Could’ve included a trigger warning about the Kremlin’s orange fascist shitstain.
Almost Retired
@bbleh: How about “al-Zawahiri wouldn’t have taken refuge in Afghanistan if Trump had been re-elected.” Which is true. He would been at the eighteenth hole at Bedford last weekend cheering on Phil Mickelson.
SpaceUnit
Biden needs to be focused on inflation, not rehashing some old forgotten dust-up that happened more than twenty years ago.
Clearly he’s trapped in the past. Sad.

@Roger Moore:
Damn, he’s quick. And fucking spot on.
Alison Rose 💙🌻💛
@Sister Golden Bear: fuck ’em
UncleEbeneezer
@Sister Golden Bear: I’m sure Glem will be explaining how this is so much worse than Putin’s troops targeting civilians and raping babies.

I agree. And disagree.
SFB makes that entire thing. A human talking. A human watching. And then a complete asswipe making a complete ass of himself. It’s not good but it is necessary every once in a while to be actually reminded of how absolutely bad he is, as president, and even as a human being. He is as classless, ignorant, obnoxious, horrifying, ill mannered, and fucking useless as we all know he is, but it’s good to actually be reminded of that on occasion, so that we don’t have to reflect upon detesting him as much as we do.
zhena gogolia
@Ruckus: I agree although I don’t know what oss is. I see you changed it to sfb
Elizabelle
@bbleh: I don’t.
Let’s celebrate we have a good president. All the “let’s go the rightwing media one better” and “we can’t win for losing” here is tiring.
Fuck ’em.

Did I scare ya with Abu!?

It’s so funny.

Has any Republican president in recent memory been able to say this? I think not.

I’m sorry, the contest rules specified original. The judges can’t accept right-wing excuses that were used at the time of bin Laden’s death, or differ only by substitution of a proper name.
Ruckus
@prostratedragon:
I clicked on your link and one of the other Y Tubes was this piece on Mohammad Ali by Billy Crystal. I think it’s very much worth the 13.54 min.

@Ken: You’re asking for originality from Republicans?

@Ruckus: Huh. I think everyone gets something different, and they haven’t quite figured me out yet. Will check this out, though.

Orange Stupid Shit.
It came to me as I watched it. But then I realized no one besides me would have a clue who I was talking about.
Ken
Only definitionally, like when Bush said he wasn’t that interested in bin Laden any more. Violà, no more terrorist.
I’m also trying to remember what TFG said when those US soldiers in Iraq who were bombed. Something like, most of them just got a little headache? Violà, no more terrorist attack.

The patriots at Breitbart say it’s a hoax if they don’t show the body. After a drone strike. Someone needs to produce a picture of a big pile of ground beef with a keffiyeh on top.

wtf is wrong with these people?
Jay
@Baud:
one of the resentments post invasion of Afghanistan, was how the flood of money and corruption impacted the cities. Warlords and others, by hook or by crook, kicked people out of their homes to seize prime real estate, then built gated McMansions.
With the Talib takeover, I am quite certain that many were repurposed. 7 bedrooms, 4 baths, 12 foot blast proof fencing, gardens, AC and a swimming pool trumps, sure beats a dirt compound with goats.

There are more of us.

Because people think that- they naturally assumed she was a “groomer”, whatever “groomer” means now.
They’re all such absolute chickens the way they write these stories. Terrified of the mighty wrath of the 100 donors to the “Michigan Republican”.

Three paragraphs in before they identify the Republican. They’re afraid of them.
That would be LANA THEIS of Brighton, you know, in case you would like to know her name so you can vote against her.

I’m blocked (yay!) so I won’t bother to look to see how angry Ben Domenech is over another ‘murdered brown person’ ‘across the world.’

The AP story on the strike on Al Zawahiri has a “senior official” saying that a ground team was in Afghanistan to support the operation but is now out of the country.
RaflW
@eddie blake: “wtf is wrong with these people?”
The damnably smartest thing the right wing did in this country was to seemingly permanently (despite the existence of Fox, Newsmax, WSJ etc) tar “the media” with the liberal bias slander.
How do all these print and TV reporters show that they aren’t biased? Praise Rs for the most trivial, ephemeral nothings, and bash Dems to show that they’re ‘hard on politicians’.
I don’t know how that chicken ever gets unfk’d.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@eddie blake: the disconnect between the Blob and the voters has always been remarkable p
eversor
@Geminid:
This is the usual case in these sorts of things.
@RaflW:
The issue is Christianity. Until that is addressed there is no point in votes or protests. Christianity has been the heart of all our issues and the leading voice in anti progress. So until we are willing to sit down and deal with this monster of a religion all other efforts beyond pointless.
If the Democratic party is not willing to go after religious liberty which is the weapon of Christianity with full force, make Christianity as bad of a public stigma as a child rapist, then it is not fighting.
Claiming there are good Christians is as insane as saying there are good Trumpers and good Republicans. Sure they do exist, but their existance and refusal to hate, condem, and demand sanction against the cult just empowers it.
So pick? Are you with humanity, are you a Trumper, or are you something worse, a Christian.
Wake up to the war you are actually in, it’s a religious one.
livewyre
@eversor: There are those who benefit from the notion of splitting off religious groups from the Democratic Party, such as churches where voter registration and other acts of enfranchisement are organized, especially along racial lines. It’s not my place to pass judgment on whether you’re among them. Just noting for the record.
ColoradoGuy
@eversor: There are big parts of the Democratic coalition that are critically reliant on churches … for example, in the Black community. These same churches were an essential part of the Civil Rights movement, are still the center of their community, and the Democrats would be insane to reject them and their parishioners. In many respects, this is the base of the Party. And there are churches that have served LGBTQ community for decades, particularly during the AIDS pandemic of the Eighties.
Our beef is with the corrupt “prosperity” churches that worship T****, which from a mainstream theological viewpoint is not just heresy, but blasphemy. The social-justice churches call out the racism that animates the T**** cult, and organize their communities to fight against it. These churches are some of our strongest allies.
We are fighting an internet-driven cult thousands of times more dangerous than the Jim Jones cult, or Scientology. We need all the allies we can get. I welcome the Black, LGBTQ, and social-justice churches. These are our people.
evodevo
@ColoradoGuy: And the only way to retaliate against the right winger political organizations masquerading as churches would be to take away their 501c3 tax exemption, which, given the fascist propensities of the Republican Party, would be also applied to any churches who are traditional Dem allies in a NY minute, if they regain power. So, we need to be careful what we wish for. Exposing them and their agenda in the public media square, repeatedly, is a way forward, if only the heretofore compromised MSM can be persuaded to cooperate…
