Ladies and gentlepersons, Senators Statler & Waldorf!
you can always tell who’s never worked a real job a day in their lives, usually because they accidentally tell you https://t.co/sDK1JotDOl

(Wish I could find the tweet where some wit wonders Do his relatives actually plan around this?… )
Alte kakers on parade…
Great job dude. https://t.co/1NlwvpnxqZ

Sanders has been in the senate long enough to know how reconciliation bills work and yet he still accused everyone in the Democratic Party of being corrupt because they wouldn't let him jeopardize the IRA's passage by tinkering with it.
— Ragnarok Lobster (@eclecticbrotha) August 7, 2022
It’s safe to laugh now, cuz the bill has been passed…
i would prefer senator sanders and others kind of just stuff the complaints in the back pocket but they’re not going to and that’s cool, just vote aye and we are cool

Elsewhere… “griftroots activist” Shaun King is back in the news. Okay, the NYPost…
Shaun King couldn’t acquire a gun and had to return his $40,000 aggressive dog because it was too aggressive, so now he’s sending his followers after his enemies instead pic.twitter.com/6ymKecsh2d

NotMax
Update to nomenclature overdue.
I propose, for starters, griftaloon.
;)
West of the Rockies
@NotMax:
That CPAC event should be called Griftstock (Woodstock). Although the (Pants on) Fyre Festival works, too. Maybe Griftchella…
Dangerman
@West of the Rockies: In honor of their work with libraries, I say we go Big Banned:
“Jeepers, Peepers, where’d they get those Creepers,
Jeepers, Peepers, where’d they get those asses”
piratedan
hoping when we get word soon on the next J6 hearing…. now that Biden and Schumer have come thru, time to hammer these lying, cheating traitorous bastards with their crimes and stick ’em in some fed prison somewhere.
Steeplejack
I think maybe somebody already suggested Griftapalooza? I like that.
Feathers
Ugh. Missed the Bernie speech. No wonder the usual suspects are going all butthurt about the bill JoshTPM is going hard on their ridiculousness, pointing out that they could actually read the bill to find out what’s in it, rather than listing Schumer’s donors and insisting it’s a sellout.
rikyrah
@Steeplejack:
Don’t they seem to be having CPAC more often?
Ruckus
@rikyrah:
Every time I see CPAC, it sounds in my head like CRAP.
Then every time I read/hear anything about it, it reenforces that sound and spelling.
satby
@rikyrah: Yeah, it SEEMS like weekly, but it probably isn’t. I could easily ignore it even if it was daily.
bjacques
CPAC: When the labor shortage is so acute we have to bring in foreign racists.
The Far Right has become a real Rainbow Coalition these last few years. At various times it has included Italians, Iranian-Americans (Roosh V), French, Dutch, Central Europeans, Russians, Filipinas, Cubans, Somalians, Brazilians, African Americans, and gays. It’s a small world after all.
oldster
Grassley — what a useless antique.
I wish I could make fun of their dinosaurs without having to think about our dinosaurs — eg DiFi.
I mean, Chuck, Nancy, and Joe have done a really really good thing with the IRA. But I’d love to see some fresh blood in there.
Let’s hope that Warnock cleans Walker’s clock. He’s young and good.
lowtechcyclist
@Feathers:
Other than a half hour in Tampa airport yesterday around lunchtime, this is the first time I’ve been online or caught any news since Friday. So I literally just found out that the bill passed.
First of all, YIPPEE!!!!!! This really is a Big Fucking Deal.
It’s a long way from perfect, of course, but ISTM that there are two easy questions to ask of any idiot lefty critics:
1) Given THIS SENATE, show me how a better bill could have passed. It was enough of a miracle to get this one through.
2) Failing that, the only argument remaining is that this bill was worse than no bill at all. So show me how it could be that bad.
Between the fact that the Dems are doing good shit (I’m really in awe here: I’m not sure this party has had a run like this since LBJ, and LBJ had HUGE FUCKING MAJORITIES, while Pelosi only has a few votes she can afford to lose, and Schumer’s margin is ZERO) and the GOP being horrible on everything from abortion to insulin, I’m starting to have real hope that we might kick GOP ass in November, and if we do, the NEXT Congress might really blow us away with what they do.
Damn. There’s real reason to hope, here. I could get used to that.
Montanareddog
@rikyrah: Supply and demand, I suppose, since their seems to be bottomless demand for such bullshit
brantl
@Montanareddog: They appear to have a bottomless supply, too, although the variety is lacking.
Geminid
@oldster: There is a long profile of Raphael Warnock in Politico Magazine, published Friday. It’s pretty good. The title is “There has never been anybody like him in tbe U.S. Senate,” a quote from Cory Booker.
matt
If Grassley retires he can spend all of his time at picnics with his grandkids.
bjacques
The tears of tankies snd Our Revolution make victory all the sweeter.
Also, fuck LBJ.
Chief Oshkosh
@oldster:
Yep. And I realize that he’s not up for election this cycle, and much to my surprise that he even won (though I figured he’d be a good senator), but the other GA senator is young and good, too.
Chief Oshkosh
@matt: He’d have to find them, first. And when it comes to creepy old gramps, those kids are not playing when it comes to hide n’ seek.
They leave the state.
Joey Maloney
I just assume it’s in Russian, so it’s pronounced “sras”.
SFAW
I don’t have the overarching hatred of Sanders that some jackals do — he annoys me, but I don’t hate the asshole — but JHC I wish he would GROW THE FUCK UP.
Yo, Bernie, when the fucking RNC gleefully uses your stupidity as a way to bash Dems, you might want to “spend some time in quiet reflection.” Which, when translated into Brooklynese, means “SHUT THE FUCK UP!” (at least until AFTER the Dems keep/increase the House and Senate).
Ken
@rikyrah: It’s like the Law and Order franchises. You’ve got CPAC Dallas, CPAC Miami, CPAC Budapest, ….
Baud
@SFAW:
He voted the right way, which is the most important thing. But every Dem gets criticized for their messaging, so there’s no reason he should be exempt from that.
Uncle Cosmo
If Iowa voters come to their senses and retire that old fart this November, he can spend all of his time at picnics with his grandkids including the one the GOP governor is hot to replace him with once he’s safely reelected and can resign. Just say no to idiot dynasties, Hawkeyes!
Montanareddog
@brantl:
Well, exactly. The supply I can understand – it’s lucrative! It’s the demand for the same few, ridiculous headline acts repeating their schtick ad infinitum that I cannot fathom.
SFAW
@Baud:
Yes, he voted the right way. But an adult (in the psychological/emotional sense) would say something like “Look, I wish there were more things in here that are hot-button/pet issues for me, so I’m disappointed, but the benefits that American taxpayers and citizens will gain far outstrip any disappointment I might have.” He could even take a shot at the GQP, but that’s not required; just stop with the petulant bashing of the Dems during those times when he has a large megaphone.
SFAW
@Uncle Cosmo:
As the son of an Iowa State grad: it’s Cyclones. [Yes, I know you’re not talking about school mascots.] On the other hand, at least it’s not Buckeyes. [Just trying to annoy THE Ohio State contingent, of course.]
mrmoshpotato
Oh Wilmer…
Fuck off into the background back in 2016, you ratfucking pile of shit!
different-church-lady
For me Shawn King rang all the same bells that Greenwald did — even though I couldn’t put my finger on it, I could tell something was off just from his writing while he was at DKos.
Uncle Cosmo
@Ken: IMO more like TEDx talks with the “x” replaced by a swastika (“indefensibly disorganized by a bunch of local wingnuts”)…
Uncle Cosmo
@SFAW: IIRC BS has said pretty much what you ask, on camera – the problem is volume control: He shouts about the stuff he wants that isn’t in there, then delivers the “faint praise” sotto voce.
SFAW
@Uncle Cosmo:
That’s where the “large megaphone” comment comes into play.
Ruckus
@SFAW:
Sanders is 80 yrs old. Will be 81 next month. This is as grown up as he’s going to get. However he may be regressing, it does happen with some as we get older.
Ruckus
@SFAW:
Sometimes when we get old we attempt to do things like we’ve always done, because it’s seared into what’s operational in our brains. He’s always bashed dems so that’s the part that’s seared into his brain. Notice there’s nothing in there about making current evaluations of current situations, that’s too much work and would mean that our brains hadn’t aged as much as the rest of us. And of course it’s not a straight line from person to person, some are extremely cognisant at 100, some are never actually cognisant no matter their age.
Bernie’s line goes “I know everything and nothing ever changes.”
linnen
Will somebody remind me please as to WHY Senator Sanders was made a Chairman of anything, much less made a spokesperson for the Democratic Party?
Geminid
@linnen: Seniority. That’s how it works generally. And Sanders is usually a team player…more or less…kind of….
