Another historic week for this Administration. pic.twitter.com/71wLCsML5O
— Vice President Kamala Harris (@VP) August 14, 2022
It’s been a busy few weeks politically, but the Media Village Idiots always have a spare chaos agent available for attempts to poison the well, tee up a Dems in disarray!!! story, maybe spark a fire that will discourage Black voters before the all-important midterms. ‘Slate pitches‘, remember them? Scott Bixby does…
Okay so the @scottbix article about Kamala Harris supporters is just as bad as people are saying. Another tone-deaf smear by white male media to paint a predominantly minority political identify as rabid against the backdrop of Republicans threatening violence against the FBI.🧵
— Kaivan Shroff (@KaivanShroff) August 14, 2022
The piece DIRECTLY contradicts its premise…acknowledging that Harris supporters “do continue to largely support her.” pic.twitter.com/1ZpTHylcwX
— Kaivan Shroff (@KaivanShroff) August 14, 2022
Madam Vice President has been quite busy doing her job, and there’s been a shortage of media attacks on her, so *obv* the KHive is a spent force. Prove me wrong, dudes!
Of all the news and all the takes one could make during this hugely consequential week, instead @scottbix forces an unsupported narrative to attack the first Black woman VP…who wouldn’t see that as media bias? 🤷🏽♂️🙄
— Kaivan Shroff (@KaivanShroff) August 14, 2022
If you read Shroff’s whole thread, a number of the people misquoted in the Bixby hit piece have objected to his framing. And there has been PUSHBACK.
(Which, sadly, Bixby is probably framing to his employers as See — best quality clickbait! Am I valuable to your mission, or what?)
@scottbix is a chaos agent. Our VP is fabulous, but the media is trying to erase her. I always come back to the fact that most media these days is owned and operated by corps that don’t want regulation and don’t want to pay taxes. Rooting for Dem failure is in their best interest

Had a nice conversation with a union thug last week who had just heard her speak in Las Vegas. He was impressed with how smart she is. I told him that we know she’s really smart because Fox and crew keep talking about how dumb she is. We had a good laugh.

Not that I’ve read either article, but this rinds me of the hit job on Neera Tanden that AL posted last night.

I love that guy in the tweet. But I think her record tiebreaking has more to do with the makeup of the Senate than anything else. Nevertheless, I adore Harris.

The Biden Trans-Am joke will never get old, because it’s pretty damn insulting to someone who owns a Corvette (an inarguably better car) that’s older than I am. It must get under Joe’s skin.
As you all know, I’ve been a Harris fan for ages. The media coverage is, as expected, horrific. But I don’t think that’ll hurt her, particularly in the current moment. Nobody is going to be a stronger moral guide after Dobbs than her.

@Scout211: In a “Law and Order” episode, this is about when the DA says “Your plea bargain was with the State of New York. Not the IRS.”

@Ken: Aren’t they still auditing the Trump Organization, and that’s why Trump still hasn’t released his tax returns?
Ken
@sdhays: I meant their personal returns, since Weisselberg has just admitted (via guilty plea) that he has been helping them conceal income. But that’s a good point — TFG’s personal returns and the Organization’s returns are different things, belonging to different legal people; just which ones are being audited?

I think the focus should be on Joe right now because we are in a stupidly odd situation with Trump. I also think a lot of the K bashing is because the media and the right really, really, really, doesn’t want J to run in 2024. The bashing of Kamala is they are trying to make Kamala 2024 happen. Biden VS Trump results in the same thing. DeSantis vs Harris is much more interesting.
Biden VS Trump is winning for us. Don’t fail for the bait and let them switch the debate. That switch will happen in Bidens second term and it’s going to be a horrid shit show and we will all hate it but now is not the time. Let her fly under the radar with her base of support and rack up wins she can start to trot out and take the stage towards the end of a second Biden term.
Geminid
@BruceFromOhio: Since the last election I’ve followed a set of Black Democrats on Twitter including Candidly Tiff, Rugged Amethyst, @WonderKing82, and @Needle of Arya. I was introduced to them though Ragnarok Lobster’s retweets. They’re more K-Hive adjacent than K-Hive but they share a similar outlook.. They don’t just defend Kamala Harris from unfair attacks, they defend Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Merrick Garland, Pete Buttigieg, just about every Democratic politician. And they are fierce.
A lot of these attacks come from bitter-ender “Bernie Bros” who over the last two years have come to consider the K-Hive their biggest enemy. This has led to a strange situation where on the one hand real K-Hive members are dismissed as being white ladies in “digital black face,” while non K-Hive Black Democrats get sneered at as K-Hive members just because they are Black and push back on the lefties.
Of course that gets these Black Democrats really mad, and they push back hard. They remind me of my late friend Chris, who learned growing up that he had to stand his ground and not take any shit.

@Ladyraxterinok: You are probably right about wanting the return of slavery. I read somewhere that one of our newest SCOTUS justices expressed doubts about the validity of the post civil war amendments, since they were ratified before the confederate states were counted as part of the United States again.
That, and they fear that everyone else wants to treat them the way they want to treat everyone else.

Slandering Kamela is a twofer in right wing world. They get to rag on a brown American of substance by raising the racism out there and 2) they’re planting their meme’s for the future. @Geminid:
I know a lot of that type and they aren’t bitter enders. Most of them realized after Obama that they’d never get shit, ever, on economic issues unless they were willing to shoot the hostage of social issues. They aren’t wrong. They also aren’t wrong that prior labor movements were bloody and violent.
So if you care about those issues shooting hostages and going violent is the only proven historical way it does work. Asking them to join an upper middle class professional movement from the very zip codes causing all these problems for social issue is so beyond idiotic Dr. Oz couldn’t top it with his “shopping for crudietes, like the peons, with salsa”.
The Democrats do not get that. Either the entire six figure crowd (and I am one of that) are getting into the gutter with the rest and having every advantage for our kids stripped out or we are going full out Christian fascism or Russian revolution. The system has failed. It cannot be saved. There are those taking sides now on what will happen and those who are in for a rude awakening. Shit is really, really, really bad. Income issues rank over climate change for why my generation does not have kids, the next generation is more extreme.
The youngs are just punching the button for Space Communism or Christian Fascism now, the realize that’s the only way out. I don’t vote that way, but I know they are correct.

@James E Powell: Aside from Jackie Rosen’s 5 point win in her Senate race, Nevada elections are close. Clinton and Biden carried the state by ~2.5%, as did Cortez-Masto in her 2016 election.
I cited a Ballotpedia report in the earlier Nevada thread, that said 50% of registered Nevada voters weren’t on the voting rolls when Cortez-Masto won her first Senate race in 2016. So this race is especially unpredictable. Her votes on the Infrastructure, CHIPS+ and Inflation Reduction Act should help her.
