    OT: I’m coming out of semi-stalkership to ask a question jackals are infinitely qualified to answer. Does Bernie have any pets? I ask because I am taking an introductory French course and as a final oral project we have to present facts about a celebrity. My partner chose Bernie. I think we can have good fun with it

    ETA: I’ve done some googling and everything I’ve found that may have an answer is behind a paywall.

    The Washington Post provides a nice history of the Mar-a-Lago document saga, FBI’s Mar-a-Lago search followed months of resistance, delay by Trump:

    Donald Trump’s lawyers received ominous news in an April 12 email from the National Archives: The FBI would soon examine sensitive documents the former president had reluctantly returned to the government from his Florida club three months earlier…

    Some of Trump’s allies have blamed the rushed and haphazard packing process during Trump’s final days in office for the presence of documents the FBI found in Trump’s bedroom, office and a first-floor storage room at Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8. But the key events that led to the FBI search took place only this year, after months of slow-rolling conflict between the former president and law enforcement agencies.

    [Crybaby McOrangeface Loooserman] is not the only 2020 contender who does not have a pet.

    Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) does not currently have a pet but a spokesperson told The Hill that he “would love a dog in the White House.”

    A spokesperson for Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) told Quartz that he never got another dog after his last dog, Hailey, died roughly 10 years ago. Inslee is instead a granddad to his son’s dogs Pepper and Tilly.

    Other Democratic candidates currently in Congress who do not appear to have pets include Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii,).

    New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, author Marianne Williamson and entrepreneur Andrew Yang also do not appear to have animals.

    There are, of course, memes, but I haven’t found pictures of him with a family pet, and other places say he doesn’t have a dog.

    In addition to learning more about the nature of what Trump allegedly possessed at Mar-a-Lago, reporting over the past several days has fleshed out our understanding of where the material was kept and how it was protected. In the immediate aftermath of the search, attorneys for Trump disclosed that material had been recovered from three locations: Trump’s office above the ballroom, a bedroom and a “storage area.”

    That storage area has been described in some reports as a “basement,” but, according to NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, was actually “a storage room off an interior hallway near the pool.” Measuring about 10 feet by 6 feet, the room was lined with boxes. You can see the pool at the center of the complex on the map below. (There is also another pool to the east, adjacent to the ocean.)

    This room, it seems, was the one that had been a focus of investigators’ attention in the weeks before the FBI moved in. A Justice Department official reportedly visited the property and was shown the room in June; after that visit the department recommended that a lock be added for additional security. That lock was added, an attorney for Trump said — and then broken when the FBI arrived Monday.

    But remember that we’re not simply talking about a room near a pool at Trump’s house. We’re talking about a room near a pool that is used regularly for events.

    (I thought that basements were rare in FL, especially so close to the beach, because of the high water table and porous ground.)

    @Another Scott: This passage about the storage area you mention, again from the Post, is worrisome.  Mainly because the second paragraph doesn’t give any details. Various people?!

    On June 22, the Justice Department handed a new subpoena to the Trump Organization, which owns Mar-a-Lago. The subpoena sought surveillance video to help show who might have been coming and going from the storage area where Corcoran and Bobb had indicated boxes of records taken from the White House were being stored.

    The footage showed various people entering and leaving the room, according to a person with direct knowledge of it.

    Just under seven weeks later, the FBI moved in.

    The site for me is intermittently fine and then awful.  Just now I was not able to post a comment on my iPad or my Mac, getting a 522 error message on both. The site loads very slowly and freezes or I get a 522 error message timeout.

    Caches have all been cleared and all other sites are fine.  Internet and router are fine.

    @Another Scott: Thanks for that. Just looking at an aerial image of Mar-a-loco, the pool looks pretty close to ground level, which doesn’t look all that elevated from sea level. Maybe the docs are okay because Ton o’ Lardo stuffed some of the lower classification records under the door. ; )

    It was bad a few hours ago. Lots of 522 errors, or just basically frozen.

    I restarted my computer about 1/2 doz times today and that seemed to clear it for a very short time, then it would freeze again or 522 error.

    But now it’s great.

    I spoke too soon.

    It is not as bad as it was but it still on occasion locks up and I end up with a 522 error, which shows as an error on the BJ server end.
