Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

How stupid are these people?

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Books are my comfort food!

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Fight them, without becoming them!

    Nice Burmese!

I suppose everyone knows that Frederick Law Olmsted’s plan for the park was not to be fully realized for fifty years.

@raven:   Olmsted also designed some parks in Atlanta.

    @eclare: Yup, and this

Thanks to Olmsted’s impressive administrative and leadership skills, the USSC successfully aided thousands of soldiers. Using the same logical, analytical approach he applied while managing the Central Park project, Olmsted developed a series of procedures and protocols that enhanced USSC operations.

By the war’s end, the USSC, in addition to treating many thousands of wounded soldiers, worked with 286 local aid societies, from which it obtained millions of dollars in supplies and donations. Furthermore, the Commission conducted 1,482 camp inspections, advised army medical staff, and established a veterans’ bureau to aid returning soldiers. The USSC was a remarkable achievement—one that gave Olmsted great pride and satisfaction.

Great pix, especially (to me) the penultimate one looking down the path at the pines. If it snows this winter you should do a set on the High Line!

These are lovely, both individually and as a set. It’s a fun jolt to see pictures of an iconic place in a different season from the more common images. Plus, my only visit to Central Park was on a stunningly beautiful April day, but these make me want to visit in the winter, too.

Olmsted also designed the Emerald Necklace in Boston, though parts of it (including Boston Common) predate him.
