Sorry, John, but I feel the need to rebut this line from your (otherwise) most excellent post.
Letitia James, the Attorney General this country needs…
No, this guy is the Attorney General this country needs. But Tish James is doing a damn fine job as the AG for New York.

I have qualify that I think Garland is handling the Trump classified documents case very well so far, however I do wonder what’s up with this:
Why is Garland’s DOJ still going to bat for TFG?
WaterGirl

My wife stumbled upon a book of faces group. All people stuck in a spousal joint consolidation quagmire regarding student loan forgiveness. They worked together for a year+ hounding reps across the country. A bunch of them flew to D.C today to watch the vote pass. Huzzah. I asked my wife to provide more details if anyone’s interested. Cops, nurses, teachers. Total people affected was basically a small town but we were all fucked due bureaucratic red tape.

FTCA says that the government will defend people who have lawsuits brought against them if the behavior was part of their official office/duties. The defamation thing occurred when he was in office, so they could defend that; Garland appears to be not challenging the former DOJ a lot, and, while I might disagree in particular cases, I can see what he’s doing. However, the rape accusation that is being revived refers to behavior that occurred BEFORE TFG was in office, so they wouldn’t defend him for that–and I think I read today that she’s actually pursuing that charge. If he were convicted, then I would think the defamation part would be easier and DOJ would stop defending it.

@Omnes Omnibus:
Between this and the IRA, you’ve been wasting a lot of perfectly good crow this year….
MisterForkbeard
@Gin & Tonic: I think it’s both true – thse particular Russians weren’t really bothered by it until it impacted them. But that protesting this in Russia is legit pretty risky to do, so… props, I guess?
Ruckus
John, Water Girl.
I think we need both of them. We need SFB tied down tight, for all his shit and all he’s put this country thru in his desire to be an even bigger complete fucking asshole than the complete and utter fucking asshole that he is and has been his entire shitty life, and for creating a path for all the shitheads that support his shittyness.

I like watching him sweat but I’m about 100 percent certain that whatever Garland or James do or accomplish will result in nothing meaningful. Not saying the shouldn’t try but Trump ain’t going to hurt from any of this. And neither will his spawn or spawn adjacent. I will be ecstatic to be proven wrong. That said, the negative news trickle/stream is advantageous for Dems so there’s that. Last thing we need is any of these fuckers near elected offices. And I don’t think Trump is running again because, in the words of equally reprehensible NYC real estate heir, Bobby Durst, “he’s a pussy”. Man can’t stand losing again…he’s just cosplaying. I imagine he’ll will remain rally guy and will just be happy with idiot Republicans kissing his ring.
The Lodger
@LAO: It’s a showpiece of what an appeals court can say without explicitly using the word “idiot.”
