Senator Patty Murray debates her Trump-supported MAGA opponent on Sunday.

This woman looks like another Kari Lake.  Ugh.

Let’s hope Patty Murray speaks as plainly as Biden did in this clip.

    @WaterGirl: It was. Smiley is from Pasco, one of the three cities that make up the Tri-Cities. I’d be overjoyed if we ever have a Democratic nominee from here… once Murray decides to hang up her tennis shoes.

    Tiffany Smiley is a ridiculous candidate. It’s astonishing that she’s even polling as close to Patty Murray as she allegedly is.

    I can’t wait to vote for Murray and send this vacuous MAGAt back to Pasco.

    I thought the rules said the candidates couldn’t talk directly to one another.  And this Tiffany person is doing that over and over.

    If I were Tiffany’s husband, I would be pissed that she was using my blindness for her political gain.

    Smiley turns on a fake smile in the middle of talking which bugs me – it’s like someone is reminding her to smile and look pretty right in the middle of her spiel. Who talks and smiles at the same time?

    Patty knows her business – unsurprisingly. She sounds knowledgeable, calm and reassuring.

    Tiffany is all repub talking points. She sounds like Oz, Walker, Vance, etc etc.

    I’m not watching because I don’t need agita.  Happy to follow via this thread.
    I also have trouble believing Smiley is polling anywhere near Murray.  I expect Eastern Washington will go for Smiley, as the whole eastern half of the state has become MAGAt-ized, but seeing pockets of support for her in the western half is very distressing.
    PS – for anyone unfamiliar with Washington state, the western half is where a sizeable majority of the population lives.  Spokane and the Tri-cities are the only large metropolitan areas in the east (and Spokane is purplish, not blood red).  Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, Olympia, Vancouver, and Bellingham are all in western Washington.​

    It’s funny: I dropped my ballot off earlier today, so I don’t “need” to watch this debate, but it’s my only chance to see why Mitch and TFG think Smiley’s so special. I’m still not seeing why.

    Indeed! I live in one of the most “purple” areas in western WA (Black Diamond) but there aren’t too many people here. Enumclaw to the south of here is pretty red, but also not heavily populated.

    Dang missed it, but saw enough of Smiley when she was running stupid and dishonest ads through every Mariners game down the stretch. Let’s see:

    1. She moved 3 times with 3 kids and a disabled husband, so you know, on to the US Senate!
    2. Also Patty Murray made Seattle dangerous because Starbucks closed it’s Capital Hill location saying it was “unsafe” (i.e. “voted to unionize”).
    3. Something about groceries and beer prices, and voting for her would let you get back to enjoying the Mariners… (missing the more obvious solution of her going the f* away).

    I think McConnell sees garden variety stupid and dishonest is a better bet than “can hear the voices in Trump’s pumpkin-head” candidates.

    @catclub: ​She’s talking counties like Mason, Grays Harbour, Lewis, Cowlitz. That’s not an all-inclusive list, but those counties also don’t have a huge number of people. In order for Tiffany to win there would have to be some kind of backlash against Patty and I just don’t see it. Patty has historically outperformed her polling.

    My wife was struck by how Smiley was constantly fighting a straw man who has nothing to do with who Patty Murray is. We gave up in disgust after the third or fourth time of Smiley saying that Patty Murray is Washington DC establishment. We’ve followed Patty for many years, and what you see is who she is. Smart, dedicated, and no nonsense. She isn’t a life of the party type, but she gets shit done right.
