    @Fair Economist: That’s what it was like for a week when I was in Iowa volunteering for Obama for 10 days before the election.  Tons of snow for days, then below zero for the last day or two.

    I like to think people admired our dedication, trudging through the snow and slush, day after day.

    Watched all of “Get Back” last night, today was replace the strainer in one of the sink basins.  It has been leaking for years and I’ve not used it in a couple of years.  The hard part was getting the old one out, got a sink took at the Home of the Orange Apron, but my sink is so old it didn’t fit.  Saw one of my fellow OFA’s, he’s fed up and leaving for the Hardware group, he put a lot of effort in getting deliveries picked before I’d get in, but he’s fed up with the opening crew not getting deliveries picked, it’ll make my job a lot harder, but I don’t blame him.

    @danielx: It’s remarkable to see a state’s electorate just keep voting to kick itself in the ass. (Not at all funny for those with marginalized identities in AR who can’t afford to, or for family reasons, jobs, etc, can’t really leave. Or just legit want to stay despite the fuckery.)

    A friend of mine was a Democratic poll watcher in Maryland today and is now at the Baltimore Marriott with 3,000 others celebrating the wins of Wes Moore, Aruna Miller and her friend Brooke Lierman. POCs and women will now hold the top four jobs in Maryland.

    @RaflW:   The thing that’s crazy is that legal recreational weed was also on the ballot in AR.  I have no idea if it will pass, but to have that on the same ballot as Possum Queen is nuts.

    Rueful laugh.  I’ve had six decades of watching this in Indiana.  We’ll elect nearly anyone with an R next to their name.  Luckily so far the chamber of commerce and plain old corrupt types have outnumbered the wingnuts, but a particularly odious man is heading for governor in ’24.

    Another, it turns out, was William Orten Carlton. Sadly, the beloved local writer/record collector/beer aficionado/all-around character recently landed in the hospital. But he was still able to vote, thanks to the efforts of friends and county officials, according to Shannon Byrne on Facebook.

    As Byrne recounted, while at St. Mary’s, Ort received an international call from a friend known as “Beercan Dan” in Brazil, who realized that Ort was feeling worse about missing the election than anything that physically ailed him. Along with Leslie Ganschow and Commissioner Melissa Link, they determined that Ort and other hospitalized voters were eligible to have an absentee ballot brought to them to be filled out, then hand-delivered to the Board of Elections.

    @raven:   Didn’t one of the election officials in the Jan 6 hearings also talk about taking ballots to people in the hospital?  The daughter in that mother-daughter team.

    Great news that others did that too.  I know my mom made sure that my grandmother voted every year that she was in a nursing home.  Grandma was a devout D.

    Still too close to officially call, but it’s looking good for Spanberger in VA. IF that pans out, even if the Rs take the House this isn’t shaping up as even a typical opposing party mid-term.

    Oh, and Peublo, CO hasn’t reported, but so far Boebert is behind. Maybe her sh*t does stink, we’ll have to wait and see.
