Like I commented earlier today, they’re actually going to try to spin this as a beautiful exercise in democracy were the Republican caucus is really just a vibrant marketplace of ideas, as opposed to a utter shitshow of cheap power plays and vindictive backstabbing where a small group of radical moonbats (although that’s a relative term in today’s GOP) held what has been a fairly routine procedure in American government hostage for several days because they’re goddamn toddlers who demand the right to blow the whole place up if they don’t get their way on everything.
This was only possible because of the unprecedented shamelessness and spinelessness of their main speaker candidate, but still…

Ever since Gingrich, when the GOP has the House majority, they’ve locked the Dems out completely.
In the past, the GOP has locked meeting rooms so Democrats couldn’t get in, cut the power to rooms where Dems were caucusing, bugged their offices, hacked their computers and spied on them, and barely even let them vote.
The next 2 years are going to be all that and more.

At the very least, we can set our clocks now and know that in roughly 11 months, the United States government will effectively shut down and default on its sovereign debt for the first time in history. Buckle up kids — we’re in for a rocky ride.
My one comfort right now is that the Dem leadership team in the House, as well as the Senate, is very, very good and is savvy enough not to let the Republicans get away with playing the media and working the refs like they usually do when covering what’s really going on in the House. Average Americans have to understand what this Freedom Caucus wants to do to SS and Medicare and that they’re absolutely willing to blow up the world economy to get their way.
