Ahh, the freshness of a new thread. Can’t you just smell the fresh scent?
PS: Has the edit window always been 15 minutes? I don’t remember it being that long.
Alison Rose
I love Ze’s forcefulness in that last clip. And he’s exactly right.
Also LOL forever at putin caring about “the nuclear family”, sure okay, a man who isn’t married and has random mistresses and probably legit forgets he has children out there and would not give a single fuck if any of them died.
Alison Rose
@karen marie: So long as it doesn’t smell like country music, I’m happy :P No shade meant, but I was like “Oh yay a music thread oh wait country never mind”.
karen marie
@Alison Rose: I am with you on that. Nice that what’s his face is donating proceeds from his song to Ukraine but … yeesh … I’d pay to NOT have to listen to it. It sounds like every other bad country western song.
PS: I’m owning the shade. If I had more, I’d throw it.

That’s so unfair! He’s a family man, devoted to his wives! Why, when he divorced his first wife, he made sure she got properly remarried, and to a man twenty years her junior! What a kind and loving (ex-)husband, wouldn’t you say?
aaaaaahahahahhaaa (thud (falls off barstool))
Alison Rose
@karen marie: I felt the same. I tried to listen and made it about 45 seconds in. I can go for a Dolly song here and there, and I do enjoy some bluegrass, but country and I in general don’t get along.

I just want to say that Oregon’s laws regarding edibles are weird. You are limited to 1 pound of candy per day. For example, you can buy one brand that has 100 mg. of the good stuff per every 2 oz. for a total of 800 mg. of the good stuff in a pound. Or you can buy another brand that has 100 mg. of the good stuff per every .42 oz for a total of 3,800 mg. per pound. The first one costs $138.00 + tax and the latter one costs $247.00 + tax.
I buy the latter, better value. They call it a “one and done”…lol!
eddie blake
i mean, i know it’s all bullshit, like we’ve been watching combat footage for a year now, but are they expecting american journalists to be embedded in with ukranian units? the ones they are calling nazis?
…maybe catturd and tuckems can ask putin for press passes.
Chetan Murthy
@eddie blake: I’ve seen footage of (arguably fascist-curious at best) UK journos embedded w/Putin’s Shitty Horde. Surely there’s at least one American, too.
Major Major Major Major
@Odie Hugh Manatee: on the one hand, that’s a weird way to regulate it… on the other hand it’s a relatively low-friction regulation. A pound is a pound, no cheating, no need for lab tests.

Are there edibles that taste okay (not like weed)? I smoked briefly for a year and have never tried edibles. Smoking was hit or miss: half the time it did nothing, a quarter of the time in enhanced a red wine buzz. A quarter of the time it made me wicked anxious.
Also, related to previous threads, did Mneso (spelling?) declare a hiatus or just stop commenting? I liked her contributions.

PIGL
@West of the Rockies: I swear, buy edibles myself; but if you find yourself getting the anxieties, go with Indica strains, and stay away from the Sativa.
Odie Hugh Manatee
The edibles are pretty darned good now. Brands like Smokeez (100 mg. THC per pkg, 10 pieces at 10mg. per piece in 2 oz total weight), IOW lotsa candy and a bit of good stuff. The ones I like are called Drops and they are 100 mg. THC total in two pieces of candy weighing a bit under 1/2 oz. total weight.
Smokeez taste like candy are and are good for those who are sensitive to dosing. Drops also taste good but you can taste the good stuff in the background. They are still damned good as the strains they use vary with the flavors and the pairings play well together for overall taste. Drops are good for those of us who feel the need for weed and are looking for an elephant-level dose.
I eat a 50 before bed and another one in the middle of the night when nature calls. It really helps my sleep and reduces pain flareups while resting.

@PIGL:
I’ve never noticed the difference between indica and sativa in the candies, just in smoking them. The difference there is that the indica is far more powerful than most sativas. I’ve been enjoying the green since 1971 (when it was four-finger bags of green shit). The sativa years were much better but the good times came when indica hit our shores.
I quit smoking it about 10 years ago, changing to vaping (w/ a bong and a pen) which works great for me.
If it tastes good then I like it! :)
Odie Hugh Manatee
@West of the Rockies:
Your mouth will feel like there is a film on if you chew or dissolve the candy in your mouth. The feeling will go away real quick, usually less than 10 minutes. It’s almost a squeaky feeling of sorts, not bad at all though.
Yes, dental work could be a problem but they do completely dissolve on their own so it would probably clear up real quick. Our dispensary has all kinds of candy, cookies, sodas, drinks and such with the good stuff in it.
Check it out!

OT? I have 2 questions about giant tech corps. (Another ?, do I need another period to end that last sentence? Could actually use a grammar police person here). (And that period too)
First, is there a way that I’m missing to get notifications of replies to my comments here, or do I need to just look at the dead threads, where I’m usually catching up to the end of the dead thread?
Second. I’ve been writing pithy little movie/tv reviews on shitty ass FB for a few years now. I’m trying to go back and copy the text out of those posts. Unsurprisingly FB is making it difficult to navigate the past. I can’t seem to find a way to just go back to 2015 and see my timeline as it was. Can’t even go back and see 2020 as I posted it. Am I wrong in thinking that the proposed FB/Meta/Fuckallwhatevertheircalling it+ is going to be charging you to look at your own FB timeline history?
Any help is much appreciated.

So I see that Scott Adams has set his career on fire and burned it to the ground, all to have the “satisfaction” of saying incredibly hateful, racist things about black people. Don’t the MAGA’s get mad when someone says all white people are racist? Why would one of them think it was ok to say that about black people? Or to promote segregation? Do any of them ever think there will be consequences for what they say? Sounds like zero papers or websites will be carrying his strip by Monday. Cue the whining about “cancellation” in 5..4..3..2..1….

I’m not a Twit/FB user, but my understanding is that the EU’s data-privacy and -ownership laws forced these companies to provide an interface allowing you to “export” all your data — a giant zipfile/tarball most likely — from their system. Perhaps it might be worth looking for that? It’d be an ugly mess, but at least, you’d have it all, and with some scripting/programming you might be able to extract what you want from that.
I could be 100% wrong about this though.

I’m surprised at the reaction to country music here.
Country music is roots music, a drum, a string, a voice.
A tale, a sound, an echo, in dells and hollows from the stamp of the feet.
And the hammer.
Good country music is like all good roots music — it’s hungry.
Insistent, relentless, tasty, bitter, and you know when you’ve reached the good parts.
sab
@HumboldtBlue: Country music is not my first preference music genre but I do like it a lot. Like all really popular genres there is a lot of bland out there. People wandering in meet that, and that is their impression.
sab
@Soprano2: Did Scott Adams do this by inadvertantly (my guess, like JK Rowling but with a smaller base of support and even more toxic views) , or was he trying to blow up contracts ( my husband’s view) ?

But these days, when I hear a random country song over a store’s sound system or wherever, it’s a song about being ‘country’. It’s gone meta, it’s swallowed its own tail.

The Country music post was interesting to me because I don’t know the genre at all. Not a thing in the UK, you’d get the odd thing in the UK pop charts, most of which I hated ( the Twang! )I knew nothing on the playlist, so I’m going to go through it and at the end I may or may not like some or none of it but at least I gave it a fair try.
I’m pretty much a dinosaur musically having been living in a cave since about 1990 and I was never that into the ‘pop’ side of it anyway.

re: the claim the Ukraine war isn’t real, Jordan Klepper of the Daily Show went to Trump’s first campaign rally in South Carolina a few weeks ago. He talked to a woman who believes the war is a fake because she never sees any footage on the news. When asked, she responded that her primary news source is NewsMax. Klepper responds that he recently went to Hungary (for another piece) and met a bunch of refugees. She thinks they are all crisis actors.
