Freddie stopped responding to Archie a couple days after he got settled in.
We took him to the vet, and she told us that he was eight to nine months old and severely undernourished.
Well, we got him fattened right up. In a few weeks he’s doubled his weight and he’s doing very well. We’re very pleased with his overall health but we are concerned about this persistent kennel cough that has continued even after a couple rounds of antibiotics and the inoculations.
The other thing we love about him is his huge personality, and how he plays with his toys all the time, and does everything he can to get you to play with him. It’s like he didn’t get any of that before he was rescued.
I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy and dealing well with this weather. Here in Tooele, we’ve got about 165% of typical annual snowfall, and a couple more inches tonight, apparently.
On another note, I am the Interim President of the American Federation of Government Employees newest local, #4016.
We’d been trying for years to get a union election at USDA OCIO, but we just kept hitting one wall after another. I’ll go into details later, but suffice it to say that we’re off to a new start, and we’ve had to hit the ground running.
I hope to be posting a little bit more around here in the future.
Freddie’s a cutie!
I can’t believe we have a Maxwell and a Freddie the same night!
I should have bought a lottery ticket – this is probably the one and last time I ever post FIRST!
He’s just adorable. I’m so glad you’ve all found each other.

Beautiful creature. I’m so glad he is safe with you.
Freddie with the pose!
Love Freddie with the pose!
Nice to see you here, Sooner!
Winds are starting to make our early-80s condo building creak here in Summit County, CO. High wind advisory doesn’t even start till 8a.m. Sunday. I wish we could brag about the snow base. Breck is at 90% of normal. It’s alright, but some pow would be nice.
And the Dillon Reservoir is a little lower than usual for early March, and if we end the season at a 90% pak, it’s not going to be a great summer right around here. 🤞
He’s adorable, and I am so glad you’ll be back/around more, Sooner!

Sooner! Great to see you around again. Congrats on finding Freddie, and congrats to Freddie for finding you! :)
Freddie is too cute for words!
How great to see you here again! The semi-weekly Freddie pics on Twitter are a highlight.
(I am Southlake Independent on the bird app)
Hey Sooner, great to see you here and very happy you may be around more. Congrats on your presidency!
Freddie is adorable! My sister just got an adorable little fluff ball, too. She’s a mini golden doodle and she’s a snuggle bug. Freddie looks like one, too.
What a fine little dog!
Happy to see you here.
So nice to see your nym here again! Glad to know you’ll be around more.
Sooner, hope to see you posting more often. You’re a voice I’ve sorely missed here. I know you tweet, but other than your tweets posted here, I’m not a subscriber, and now more than ever, I’m never going to be.
Nice to see you around, Comrade.
@Jackie: I’ve had tweets posted here?
@Soonergrunt: We have eyes everywhere….

Ahhh the joys of being a Union Officer. Warning!!! You will spend 90% of your time caring for the needs of 10% of the membership.
Freddie is a darling!
And it would be great if you chose to occasionally post here, Soonergrunt!

Weather watch. Another cold and windy Atmospheric River just hit us in Northern California. Everyone head to the store and stock up cuz it will be your turn in a few days.
@Soonergrunt: Guilty as charged. :P
Also: welcome fellow union thug! From National Treasury Employees Union Chapter 30. We have cookies.
Good to see you.
Soonergrunt! So great to see you here again!

Soonergrunt, great to see you again! Congrats (I hope) on the Interim Presidency. And that second photo of Freddie is outstanding.
Hey Freddie! Welcome to the party!
I hope the same. Good to hear from you. Bet you got stories to tell.
Gotta admit to being kind of relieved you did not change your nym to beehivegrunt when you changed location.
@Grumpy Old Railroader:
He was an NCO. He knows.
As a fellow Union Thug (IATSE Local 119 and former e-board member of IATSE Local 100), I want to say welcome! It is so good to see you here and posting again.
Your pup is beautiful!
He’s the same color and curliness as our Alfie, just smaller! He needs a face shave though, to keep all that fluff out of his eyes.
Oh I hope the fluffball feels better!
I see your semi daily Freddie posts over, um, there. They always make me smile. And I often “like” your other posts too. GO YOU for Unionizing.

Welcome back Soonergrunt… I’ve missed you while you have been regrouping in UT.
We’re still in rural WV, both of us retired and hermiting to avoid the COVID, so far successful in that endeavor.
Balloon-Juice is my main social connection to the human race currently, it will be great to return you to the active list.
Regarding your union activity, Wife was elected as Sec-Treasurer of her national local and remained in the office until she retired something like 16 years ago. Best of luck with the new role!

Great to see you’re posting here again Soonergrunt! Looking forward to having your take on things again.
Spent three years in Tooele. Not much to say about it other than that it’s a nice quiet place to land in.

Hey Sooner. I hope we see more of you! Nothing would make me happier than to be able to move you from the Past Authors area to Authors. (in the sidebar under Balloon Juice Posts.
Looking forward to seeing you around here again Sooner.
Love love love the jaunty arm resting on the arm of the chair! All dressed up in his handsome shirt.
@geg6: What breeds go into a mini golden doodle?
@Soonergrunt: Of course! You are the very definition of gone but not forgotten.
@HumboldtBlue: That’s Mr. President, to us.
I’m so. glad you’re coming back. I’ve missed your perspective. Cogrtaulations on the union success including your (interim) office,
