White House Press Sec. Karine Jean-Pierre, when asked if President Biden is annoyed by Marianne Williamson (D) announcing her 2024 presidential bid:
“Just not tracking that. I mean, if I had a … crystal ball, then I can tell you … If I can feel her aura …” pic.twitter.com/zy5NU67UAN

First time as tragedy, second time… doesn’t even rise to farce, so far. At least Mrs. McPherson accomplished some actual service to those in need, whereas Williamson, from what I’ve seen, is no more than a comfort to a cohort of middle-class television watchers. Since that audience is no longer what it was, she’s found this new grift (although I’m sure she’s convinced herself it’s a mission), and Our Failed Mainstream Media is all too happy to encourage her, for their lulz.
Marianne on a hot mic at FOX complaining about how mean lefties are.

It says that conservatives want her to help them by creating a lot of chaos in Democratic primaries. That's what it says.

Politico, for example:
Self-help author Marianne Williamson, whose 2020 White House campaign featured more quirky calls for spiritual healing than actual voter support, launched another longshot bid for the presidency on Saturday, becoming the first Democrat to formally challenge President Joe Biden for the 2024 nomination.
“We are upset about this country, we’re worried about this country,” Williamson told a crowd of more than 600 at a kickoff in the nation’s capital. “It is our job to create a vision of justice and love that is so powerful that it will override the forces of hatred and injustice and fear.”
The 70-year-old onetime spiritual adviser to Oprah Winfrey should provide only token primary opposition — a testament to how strongly national Democrats are united behind Biden. Still, she tweaked the president, a longtime Amtrak rider, by holding her opening rally at the ornately marble-columned presidential suite at Union Station, Washington’s railway hub…
Williamson, whose red, blue and black campaign signs feature the dual slogans “A New Beginning” and “Disrupt the System,” says she’ll be campaigning in early-voting states on the 2024 election calendar.
That includes New Hampshire, which has threatened to defy a Biden-backed plan by the Democratic National Committee to have South Carolina lead off the nominating contests. Democrats and Republicans in New Hampshire have warned that if Biden skips the state’s unsanctioned primary and a rival wins it, that outcome could prove embarrassing for the sitting president — even if that challenger has no real shot of actually being the nominee.
Striking a defiant tone Saturday, Williamson denounced “those who feel they are the adults in the room” and aren’t taking her candidacy seriously, proclaiming, “Let me in there.”…
Go away, whiny lady. Mean center-left person that I am, I have to agree with Mr. Ragnarok Lobster here…
And do not get it fucking twisted. Whining about moving the start of the Democratic primaries from the two whitest states that are least representative of the makeup of the Democratic voter base is white grievance for so-called liberals and moderates.

Wow. It really is a slow news day.
Spanky
Walking through Union Station with a sign that says “Disrupt the System” may give unexpected results.

That sentence is shameful, and the writer should feel bad for writing it.

I’ve never heard of her.
File this under Whatever.
kalakal
Who she?
Don’t want to know.
Manyakitty
@Baud: yeah, it’s like she flicked his head or gave him a titty twister. One yike.
Sure Lurkalot
Oprah, again?!? I’m losing count of the charlatans Ms. Winfrey has foisted upon the world.

KJP is awesome. Love that she cracked them up :)
For the OT: I’ve just registered for this online workshop and thought some of the other cis jackals might be interested, too. It’s called TRANS ACTION: A Step by Step Workshop for Allyship in Action.
About the host: “Schuyler Bailar (he/him) is an internationally renowned inspirational speaker and inclusion advocate. As seen on The Ellen Show and The Olympic Channel, Schuyler was the first transgender athlete to compete on an NCAA D1 men’s team, competing for Harvard’s winningest team in 50 years. He has given over 450 trans literacy and inclusion trainings across the country and beyond and brings this expertise to his seminar series.”
About the workshop:
“Join Schuyler Bailar for a 2-hour workshop on hands-on allyship for the trans community. The workshop will begin with reviewing (high-level) the political landscape and then move into providing tangible, easily accessible allyship actions. Schuyler will dissect a handful of scenarios submitted from previous workshops, and then open for Q&A.
All are welcome, regardless of gender history. Cisgender (not transgender) folks are strongly encouraged to attend, furthering their efforts to support trans and other marginalized folks during this time. Fellow trans folks are, of course, also welcome; the seminar will help provide you with better tools to engage in conversations advocating for yourself.”

@Baud:
What would you expect from someone covering her? Certainly not going to bother someone with anything higher than a second grade education to actually write anything about her.
Geminid
@Baud: It has been slow! I was going to try and find another Marie Gluesenkamp Perez interview just to cheer people up.

Every now and then I have to go back and watch this
Kent
She’s worth following on Twitter if you do twitter. Although she must be busy because she hasn’t posted much lately.
But she does repost all her interviews so if she has done one recently you’ll find it on her twitter feed.
Baud
@lgerard:
Haha. I hadn’t seen that before. Genius.

It’s amazing we haven’t read about somebody bilking Opes out of several million dollars. Of course, maybe somebody did and she just didn’t notice.
bbleh
@Baud: right? I mean, does this actually matter to … anyone?
SpaceUnit
I like to think that I could attract at least 700 people if I set up a podium and sound system in the DC Amtrak station and read into the mic from a seed catalogue.

@Sure Lurkalot: I also blame Ms. Winfrey for why we have so many “deaths of despair.” Her whole “if someone isn’t bringing positive energy into your life, cut them out of it,” is tragic when it comes to mental illness and neurodivergence. It just turns being rude, selfish, and heartless into a feel-good self care thing. Amazing to see someone’s bout with serious depression turned into being “toxic.”
As to Marianne Williamson, I remember her whole Course of Miracles thing back in the 90s. Was house sitting and found a copy. Glad to finally read it. What a load of complete nonsense. I didn’t know what would be worse. That people had jumped on the bandwagon without reading the book, or that they had actually read this hooey and decided to follow it.

“Democrats and Republicans in New Hampshire have warned that if Biden skips the state’s unsanctioned primary and a rival wins it, that outcome could prove embarrassing for the sitting president”
Bollocks
Biden wont be on the NH ballot, neither will any credible Dem
Damn few of us will even bother to vote in it
When the chakra lady or the anti-vax Kennedy offspring or even somebody more serious like Vermin Supreme wins – it will be the NH primary that will be embarrassed, not Biden

@lgerard: OMG, I missed that one! Thank you!

Marianne does not seem to look like a 70 year old women.

@lgerard: Really good!! I never saw it before.

@Kent: I do Twitter, and I follow local media coverage of Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez some. Her district is one of 11 held by Democrats that was rated “Toss up” in an early analysis by Karl Kondyk (U Va. Center for Politics) so she bears watching.
I was kind of joking, though. I posted an interview of Ms. Gluesenkamp Perez a few weekends ago that created a lot of turbulence here.
I’ve made a list of of Democratic freshman Representatives, with their age and previous experience in government. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is the second youngest at 32, after Maxwell Frost (age 26). There are six other freshman Democratic Reps in their 30s.
Ms. Gluesenkamp Perez’s previous governmental experience was serving on the local Soil and Water Conservation Board. She was also active in Washington’s Democratic Party.

I knew she was young, I didn’t know she was that young. Funny her youth doesn’t grant her the beatified status of other Young Politicians

@cain: She will be 72 if elected. Now that’s what I call new blood!
BruceFromOhio
OK, that is simply hilarious. “If you skip our party, you’re not invited anyway!”
New Hampshire, so much irony for so small a state.
matt
She’s like Geraldine Ferraro with a crystal.
Aussie Sheila
@matt: Not as serious as Ferraro, except probably less racist. Honestly, the scope for crack pottery in US Presidential elections appears limitless. I vaguely remember her from the debates. Unbelievable that she’s running. Actually no it’s not. I guess there will be money and endless appearances on ‘anti establishment/anti mainstream media’ grifter podcasts, all the while bemoaning some policy snafu from Biden, while doing their best to ensure his re-elect is as difficult as possible.
