Great News – Four Directions External Match for the next $13,000

WE DID IT!  

I took the thermometer down because we are at $30,000!  (As soon as the final angel adds theirs.)

I just got a call from Four Directions to say that they found a match for the next $13,000 we raise!

We don’t need much more than $13,000 to get us to our $30,000 goal!

So even though we are midway through the existing angel match, everything resets, so everyone can take advantage of this.

So…  ($100 donation + $100 angel match = $200) + $200 external match = $400

Plus the $5,000 Angel Bonus when we get to $20,000.

So all donations right now are pretty close to 6x.

I know I don’t need to tell you all what’s at stake.  Let’s do this!

    Ok have another $25.  This is starting to become habitual …

    As to the present situation, I confess to a strange — but clear and strong — sense of optimism and relief.  Like, with the “Cannon misfire” (which was a step too far imo), plus Divine Intervention to save the life of the Chosen One, plus the convention, we are reaching Peak Crazy, and not only is it all downhill for them now but they are riven with self-destructive forces, starting with their candidate.

    (Or I’m just going nuts.  Ie more so.)

    Long time yet folks.  Donate, volunteer, and ffs vote and make sure your friends do.

    If you need help in figuring out how to operate the next few months/years, either read The Martian or see the movie. I often tell people that if you want to know how my brain works, that is the best example. But it works like this: Solve the problem in front of you. It may work, and it may not, but you’ll have a next problem to solve. Solve that one. And just keep going.

    Got our annual* increase at work in today’s paycheck, so I’m in for $50.

     

    Annual* – every year, we are told it’s a “merit” increase, not a COLA, and it may not happen or might be adjusted. And every year, it happens and is roughly the same amount. So…

    @Dagaetch: I remember one year at the University we all got the same raise, across the board.  It worked out to the cost of one CD at the time.

    And not a double-CD!!

    Put in $74 in commemoration of my upcoming birthday.

    Got up at dawn, yesterday and today, trying to get out and walk around running errands – ballot dropoff, groceries, bank, prescripts – before it got unbearably hot,  Survived.  Now finishing lunch, sitting in front of aircon, having another cup of tea.  Rehydrate !

    And just remembered, unwrap the just-acquired pills (Pharmacy wraps each bottl in little paper bag, folds it over, staples ‘patient data sheet’.  Pain to unwrap.) and take the ones that should have been in morning batch.

    So, all I’ve got to rest of week is to finish rigging up a small (1/1200 scale) squadron, and get things together for Historicon.

    Thanks everyone for kicking in. I was hoping to be an angel match this week… But my very old ac unit (~20 y/o) is leaking coolant, so we’re looking at a few thousand to replace that.

    Not ideal, but hopefully I can help with a future fundraising endeavor.

    What we have here – with the BJ jackals, plus all of the Four Directions people in the field, plus the external FD match of $13,000 (!) – is POWER. “The people, united, will never be defeated.”

    (I wish I knew where my “La Raza” button was. It was a gift from a Latina classmate in high school; I felt honored. If I could find it, I’d be wearing it now.)

    @greengoblin: I just checked the time stamps.  I put up this post as soon as I got word, and that was after your earlier donation.

    So that one didn’t get the external match, but it did get an angel match, plus it was part of the “get to$20k and a BJ Angel will pop another $5,000 into the thermometer.

    So you got a 4x match, but not 6x.  (6x includes the external match)

    Now we are back to 4x because we have an angel match + the external match, but not the $5k bonus match.
