I’m not sure what Anne Laure is up to this morning, but I don’t see anything going on in the back room. Hopefully we’ll see her soon. In the meantime, it’s BYO (bring your own) morning news time.
Let’s share some good political news.
I do love this.

I spend time on RWNJ websites and they truly believe we are the haters. I feel this is a sincere belief, too. I don’t know how to talk to such people.

@E: Are you just trying to hurt yourself, or what?

Another observation of weird: we are out here on the Outer Banks enjoying a few days of beach. Have seen quite a few Trump signs and flags out here. Yesterday, we saw a SUV wearing a MAGA hat. Yes, its owner made a giant red hat (out of what? I have no idea) and attached it to the roof rack and they actually drive around like that.
So we took the kids for ice cream last night, and I wore my KAMALA hat. One of the young women working at the ice cream shop said she liked it. I thanked her and noted that I was seeing a lot of support for TFG out here! She said there was and that she tries not to talk about it. I am looking forward to KH selecting her running mate so I can get a new yard sign and potentially some merch. I think it helps some people feel less alone, less weird.

@E: I don’t either. In the car the other day, heard someone else’s radio, AM hate radio: “She’s letting these people over the border, they’re [criming in every way]” …
For me tbh I’m trying to protect my family first, I cranked up our music (not in English) to block out the noise and prayed the light would turn soon. (ETA: we’re a multi culti multilingual family, in ways apparent to observers)
I did send out a few more postcards yesterday, pick up today.
postcards: 9
total: 15

@E: Not only are we the haters, we are also the gullible ones who believe the lies the MSM tell us. Two separate universes.

WG pulled this thread, but people still be commenting on it.
ETA: ah, moved, not pulled.

Unions are endorsing Kamala Harris. The latest:
Suzanne
@E:
I desperately try to avoid it.
Baud
@E:
We hate their hate, so their view is understandable.
SFAW
@Baud:
Sorta like us being the true racists when we point out their racism.
Geminid
@Suzanne: This a nice time to be on the Outer Banks. I hope it’s an enjoyable stay.

A joy to watch Trump bash Tn gov. Bill Lee who has been a faithful bootlicker and wannabe Theocrat.

Okay, yay, Anne Laurie is up. I’ll leave this post, but I suspect everyone will move to the next one.

this has been the case since freerepublic was frothing about Mena and the Clinton Body Count
OzarkHillbilly
If we didn’t hate them, we wouldn’t promote equality for the lesser races.

@Kosh III: Hard to imagine it being a joy to watch Trump do anything. Except being led away in handcuffs.
eclare
That is a good ad!

@Kosh III: What did Bill Lee do to cause the wrath of TCFG?
BretH
@Baud: so Both Sides!!
Bugboy
@Baud: Compounded by the fact that it doesn’t really matter what they hate, if it wasn’t that one thing it would be some other. And that’s one of those “you problem, not a me problem” kind of things, no?
Kosh III
@Jackie:What did Bill Lee do to cause the wrath of TCFG?
As far as I can tell, disloyalty for having the nerve to support his(Lee) long time ally in the primary instead of the candidate that the Felon supported.
It was a joy to know because Lee is such a hate-full POS.

@E: Well, they get called names because they were raised to think a certain way about race, gender, and sexual orientation and they either haven’t changed or haven’t changed enough. (Granted, their views should be criticized.) Plus, as much as some white men deserve it, some of the white male bashing on leftest spaces has been too much too far. We consistently bash the South also. They see that as hate. They also see us as divisive because they don’t agree with the criticism and because it causes conflict within families. Fox amplifies it.
Honestly, as much as they give out, they really can’t take it. My Mom started hating Clinton in the 90s because she make a snide remark about how people expect her to stay home and bake cookies. Mom took that as a slam against homemakers. I didn’t, but her oversensitivity was based on feeling attacked by 70s feminists for her choices.

@Kosh III: Ahhh, I thought Mike Lee, Charlie Pierce’s’s favorite konstitooshnul skoler….
oldster
But but but — its heritage, not hat!
actually, that’s what they’re trying to say about Project 2025. It’s a lie there, too.
Jackie
@Kosh III: Ahhhh. So the usual pettiness. The “if you don’t support my choice, you’re a RINO = disloyal” IOW. Thanks!

We’ve been getting constant right wingnut mailings and television ads (Kansas City media market) for Missouri’s August 6th primary. The republican primaries, down to state senate and state rep are crowded.
There are 9 republicans in the Gov. primary (5 Dems), 6 republicans in the Lt. Gov. primary (2 Dems), 8 republicans in the Sec. State primary (3 Dems), 6 republicans for State Treasurer (1 Dem), and 2 republicans for Attorney General – a particularly nasty one (1 Dem).
There are a lot of PACs (with unlimited resources) “independently” spending amounts upward of $6,000,000.00 to $7,000,000.00 [republican AG primary]
The large number of republicans running is due to term limits. State reps want to move to state senate, state senators want to move up to state office, state office holders want to move up to Gov.
The thing is, there’s not a lick of difference in ideology among the republicans, but the ads and mailings they use to attack their primary opponents are vicious.
There’s a three way republican primary (with an incumbent) for our state senate district. They’re running television ads in our media market (near Kansas City). The mail pieces and television ads are funded by PACs.
There is no crossover race-by-race. You can only pull one party’s ballot.
Pass the popcorn.

@Betty: it’s disturbing to me too. Sometimes I find people’s Facebook pages that go on like that too. Libtards, they call us.

@Baud: well, hmm. I want a way out, a solution. Can’t think of any, but hoping some bright caring thinking people here might. All I can think is the disinformation and fake news that’s allowed…
No One You Know
@E: So, after the White Women call, and feeling called out on the whole “not being comfortable” thing, I out reached to my sister-in- law, who I genuinely like. She’d actually called me when Trump’s unidentified federal police action in Portland, sweeping up (or outright kidnapping) people in the University neighborhood where my son lived, to offer some kind of peace. “We never expected anything like this, ” she told me. I held my tongue then.
Fast forward to now: I messaged her to ask if we could talk about Harris. She said no. “We’re screwed either way.”
I’m numb. And disinclined to pursue.
BellyCat
Response: “OK… Can we talk about Trump?”
Let The GOP Grievening begin!
artem1s
@E:
Well, after 40-60 years of GOP ratfuckery, I have to admit their actions have turned me from indifferent to bemused to concerned to fear and yes, sometimes to hatred. So I guess the weirdos win that argument.
WaterGirl
@No One You Know:
Kudos for reaching out. Her reaction is no reflection on you. Keep on reaching out. (but maybe not to her!)
