Personal Note: Hillary looked amazing and she would have been a great president. Our bench is deep (AOC rocked) and Kamala Harris opening the events – that was awesome.

    I had a conversation with a client today – I don’t normally talk politics, but he wanted to know how I felt about all of this. He was genuinely excited – generally a libertarian – but couldn’t wait for a Kamala and Tim to be elected.

    We are both from NE originally (me just a few years in my Air Force brat travels) so Walz being a Nebraskan  – he thought it was a brilliant choice and made him really trust Kamala’s decision making skills.

    Just a little report from the Mile High state.

    CNN max has been doing the WHOLE convention and coverage all day long too.

    gotta say, the AOC speech was ON FIRE and I can proudly say my Rep. should be down the line making an ever bigger name for herself. For me her voice is great, and she carries the New York accent and attitude in a way that Hochul who spoke right before simply felt like a nervous high school president speech.

    @Quinerly:  I don’t actually think we are a 50/50 country.  I think support for Team Blue is drastically undercounted.

    Were it not for the Electoral College.  And knowing that Democrats represent millions more Americans than Republicans do, even if they don’t get the equivalent seats in the House and Senate because of EC apportionment.

    Our cowardly MSM certainly wants to go with “polarized 50/50” nation. Gee.  How might that have happened, MSM?

    At least in part because we have spent two centuries absorbing large numbers of immigrants.  Even with our occasional bouts of serious restrictions (including the current one), it’s a lot of change for many people to absorb.  There are other factors, but that’s a major driver IMHO.

    There are multiple parts to democratic principles, and they are all about the whole.

    There is one part to the rethuglican lack of principles and that is that their leader is a supposed monarch. They don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone but themselves. Their policies suck and their politicians suck. They are actually far less than a political party. They are the bad kids in the neighborhood who have stolen someone else’s treehouse. They could be the party of never go too fast, but that is a bunch of yesterdays ago. They are stuck in reverse, trying to go backwards, at top speed, back into a system that pads their bank accounts and fucks up an entire nation.

    Not everyone wants to be in this century. Some think or believe that we should be the country that existed over 100 yrs ago because that was better. They can never explain how it was better but as someone who goes back quite a few decades, I can tell you it wasn’t better in so many ways. And politics was one of those ways. The world has always changed, unless the powers that be didn’t want change – then it was just slower change. (Those in charge in Russia didn’t want change for everyone, just for themselves. But to get what they want most everyone got to see the change, especially the leader’s changes, while nothing did for them.) And at some point it all changes or the leaders often cease to exist. That has been humanity since day one.

    My point is that some want things to change for them so that they come out at what they perceive to be – on top. This is SFB, he wanted to be on top worse than anything else. And as most humans realize – rather easily, SFB is what one scrapes off their shoes after walking the dog.
