This morning we announced the official start of our Four Directions Montana fundraising! As we all know, Montana is about keeping Jon Tester’s senate seat, as well as helping Native people have more of a voice in elections. Besides being “boots on the ground for the Native vote”, Four Directions also litigates – and often wins – on their behalf.
I got word late yesterday that Four Directions has fund a match for the full $30,000 we are trying to raise!
Two Angel matches – Marleedog and anonymous – plus donations from the day shift – have gotten us to $7,500 in the donation thermometer! We have a new Angel match this evening – and friend of the blog, Andrew will match up to $2,000 overnight.
Matching up to $100 per person, to count toward the match, tell us about your donation in the comments or via email to me. With the external match and the Angel match, these are 4x donations!
THIS LINK IS FOR MONTANA DONATIONS – NOT FOR THE RAFFLE
Also: raffle tickets for the quilt will be available until Sunday evening, 9/8.
The quilt was made by Linda Szabo, who is a member of Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
Raffle tickets are $25 each.
Here’s the link to buy raffle tickets and see the full quilt raffle announcement and details.

This from Alexandra Petri is funny and profound and also disturbing as hell in its accuracy.

Go, night shift! :-) I want to kick some Republican butt across the board in November.
I am headed for bed, but I will check back in the morning to make sure that *everyone is matched.
*even if you guys go wild and donate more than the $2,500 Angel match from Andrew.
WaterGirl
I copied more of Petri’s article than I normally would have, but if they are going to be jackasses about gift links, then we’ll just consider this my protest vote about that.
eclare
In for $25
WaterGirl
@eclare: Hi eclare, I was thinking about you today.
WaterGirl
Okay, really heading for bed now. Goodnight.
dmsilev
@WaterGirl: I’m pretty sure any rom-com penned by the Senator from Ohio would prominently feature living room furniture.
eclare

@Prescott Cactus:
Long time friends of this blog will recall the the time Doug J trolled Axexandra Petri long before either of them were rich and famous.
Jackie
That Petri story creeped me out! I understood the humor, but that described JV too closely! 😵💫

@WaterGirl: grateful for this repost of ms Petrie’s weird funny but chilling parody. I love how her word choices make it so unromantic
WaterGirl
@Jackie: @frosty: Yes!
That’s why I introduced the story with this:
This from Alexandra Petri is funny and profound and also disturbing as hell in its accuracy.

Good morning. Just got back from the farmer’s market and tallied the night shift donations.
Great job, everybody. We met that match and will be starting a new one shortly, as I found an Angel offer in my email just now when I returned home.
Go Angels!
John
Why is this so consistently being referred to as a Native-made quilt instead of a Rosebud Sioux-made quilt? I shouldn’t have had to go back to the original post to find the creator’s tribal affiliation.
WaterGirl
@John: I didn’t think of it!
Fixed now, thanks.
I also added this to the ActBlue link for the quilt raffle tickets:
The quilt was made by Linda Szabo, who is a member of Rosebud Sioux Tribe.

PSA: It’s a holiday weekend, so all donatios into the Four Directions MT Phase II thermometer until it reads $22,500 will be 4x donations – no need to let us know about your donations.
When we get to $22,500, a gaggle of Angels will pop i the matching $7,500.
