    “Trump Tower has litigated this case by pretending the rules don’t exist or that basic facts aren’t what they obviously are,” said Robert Weinstock, who represented Sierra Club and Friends of the Chicago River through Northwestern University’s Environmental Advocacy Center. “The court’s ruling forces them to live in reality and comply with the law like everyone else.”

    Taylor Swift‘s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris led to a surge of visitors to Vote.gov, the U.S. government website that helps citizens understand how they can register to vote.

    According to a spokesperson for the U.S. Government Services Administration, Swift’s endorsement post on Instagram led directly to 337,826 people visiting vote.gov.

    “As of 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 11, there have been 337,826 visitors to vote.gov referred from the custom URL created and shared by Ms. Swift,” the spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

    Vote.gov does not register visitors to vote but rather directs them to their local state election websites for more specific voting information. It uses data analytic tools to monitor referrals to the site, including referrals from custom links, such as the one used by Swift in her Instagram post.

     Well, she did get 218 comments. Which is a measure of how things have changed in a short period. Pre-Kamala, BJ comments were getting pretty thin on the ground which I took to be a measure of enthusiasm level amongst the jackaltariat. Now it’s a rare post that doesn’t get at least a hundred, or so I would guess.

    My father in-law got tons of mail in 2020 from TFG and other GQP grifters, despite the fact he died in 2019. I sent most of it back, postage due, with commentary. Today he got a begging note from Trump, return address Kansas city(!???). This one is going back with the business card of the nursing home FIL was in, with a note that trump needs to check in, after that debate “performance.”

    Shadi, yeah, there are moments when it feels like you can see her rapidly flipping through the 3×5 index cards in her head and trying to make sure she reads it verbatim.

    Harris is shaking her head as Trump claims that a governor said that it was okay to terminate a viable, healthy pregnancy in the ninth month. But in fact this is true.

    Harris is clearly comfortable talking on abortion: She sounds passionate and well-informed, and most important, she doesn’t sound like she’s in dress rehearsal.

    It’s too bad for Harris that she can’t spend the entire debate just talking about abortion.

    Trump actually got a zinger in on abortion: He asked her to say when she would ban abortion. Eighth month? Ninth month?

    And so it went on and on

    At the end she said the hated all of the Democratic policies but would vote for Kamala

    @Ken: Downfall is a really good movie. It can be hard to watch because it humanizes Adolf Hitler, turns him into a 3D person. Bruno Ganz, who plays Hitler, has an amazing performance.

    It’s always projection with Trump. He accused Harris of busing in paid rally attendees when he has repeatedly done exactly that.

    To bbleh, the House is going to shut down the government before the election. Count on it. Their ransom is to demand Democrats agree to not allow illegal aliens to vote, something which is both ALREADY illegal and extremely rare.

    Shitforbrains is past his prime, likely about 75 yrs past. Why this ass was voted in as president says a lot about our country. Why he still has support is mind numbing. He has shown the world who he is, and it’s bad, only because his brain hasn’t ceased functioning in such a shitty fashion. I mean we know it’s working – he’s still breathing. It’s just that his brain works like a 1950 Nash Rambler with a half a million unserviced miles on the odometer. And isn’t far off in looks either.
