    I have been looking thru my pictures from the march in St. Louis after Trump was inaugurated in 2017 for pictures of Ozark. I thought I had one of him with Claire McCaskill. Sadly, I don’t have any of him that day. Claire was so gracious to our group. Spent a lot of time with us.

    Open Thread? Are we doing another postcarding post any time soon? I got my Etsy order, I have about 75 blank ones ready to go. I just finished 25 with Activate America for CA-47 (Katie Porter’s seat in OC where I lived for a year many decades ago) . I’m looking for addresses for PA-10 to boot Scott (ptui) Perry. If y’all* don’t have any suggestions, I’ll check with the local Dems. I’m already signed up to canvass.

    * I’m in South PA, just north of what was once a notorious nest of Confederates in Baltimore. Can’t use yinz, we’re on the wrong side of the mountains. Can’t use youse, we’re on the wrong side of the Suskie. What’s a Central Pennsyltuckian supposed to do?

    Since this is an open thread: first off, it is great to see proof of life in NYC. If I still lived there, I would definitely attend a BJ meet-up.

    2nd: this one is very humiliating.  This afternoon I fell for a phone scam.  It started with a call claiming to be Wells Fargo claiming that 2 transactions were made on my Zell account.  I have never heard of Zell and I don’t have a Wells Fargo account but the person on the other end was very convincing. She gave me 2 transactions and supplied me with claim #s.  She said I had to contact Zell and that my banking institution could not help me.  I called the number she gave me and a “Luis” started to send me down a very confusing claim process involving going to my bank’s website, signing in and going to Zell.  These people are very good.

    Long story short: before I googled “Zell scam” I had given enough info for them to scam the first $$ . The very first result of the Google search was a Reditt group , R/Scams.  1st. item was the exact scenario I was dealing with. Exact to the amount of money claimed for both transactions.  I freaked out and went off on “Luis”.  Thoughout the call he was low level bullying . When I called him out, he got really aggressive and resorted to more intense bullying.

    I hung up at this point and called my credit union. The young woman who assisted me was  competent, reassuring and efficient. When I told her he was agressive she confirmed that it was the a sure tell he was a scammer.   We were too late to prevent the first transaction but she assured me that they would aggressively go after Zell to recover the funds and that  I was not liable for the funds.

    Oh well. The scammers were very good. Up until now I have been very good at spotting dodgy phone #s.

    There is no fool like an old fool.  Live and learn, I guess.

    • @James Parente: Don’t be hard on yourself. My mother, before dementia and still very sharp almost fell for a scam, not like yours, but the person was very convincing, according to my mother. She answered a call from Mexico and the person on the other end nearly convinced her that her grandson was in a Mexican jail and needed bail money and his father didn’t have the money. It was clear this person did some research on the grandson and my brother, because they had enough information that was correct. I came home from work and my mother was talking about wiring or sending money some where, and I asked her what was going on.  She explained briefly and after I heard the details I told her to hang up, and she refused.  I told her to let the man talk to me, which she then told the man that her daughter wanted to talk to him, and he hung up.  She was mortified that she was about to send money if I hadn’t come home when I did. For your future reference, banks where you don’t have an account do not call you. I have Wells Fargo and the only way they get in touch is by text with specific information and tell you to call their 800 number.   Their reach out number is one of the bold face 4 or 5 digit numbers. I know nothing about Zelle because I am not terribly familiar with them and I want to keep it that way.  I hope everything resolves in your favor.

    It was a really humid day, I’d decided to run a couple of errands, and walk from 23rd & 6th PATH station to Grand Central. Bad move (still getting over heart attack, ran short of endurance points).

    Nevertheless, a good time was had by all. Enjoyed seeing all you Jackals again, and meeting Jayne for first time. Anyone interested in another meetup sometime around Christmas ?

    That’s a good-looking group of jackals!

    I’m in high-stress today. Dragoncraft comes out on Saturday. My publisher hired a publicist to send ARCs to reviewers and get whatever other notice she could. This morning, the publicist sends email saying she’s sorry but she just started a new college course and is too busy, so she can’t do the publicity. The book comes out in four days. I think I’ll go to the gym and work some of my frustration off.
