I tweaked my shoulder pulling a weighted blanket over my chest this afternoon, so everything is back to normal around here. Another nice day here, though, and the days are getting shorter.
You know, I have sat here for ten minutes trying to think of what I want to talk about and every time I start to say something I decide I no longer want to write about it. I think I’ll just go watch season 4 of the Boys.
Teamsters are going through some things tonight, aren’t they?

I wonder how legit those numbers O’Brien cited were. With all of the locals (in swing states, and more states) jumping to endorse… I’m skeptical.
Mousebumples
In other news, as I‘ve mentioned in other threads, I’ve been talking with WaterGirl, and we’re wondering if there’s interest in regularly scheduled postcard threads. I know we have a lot of people postcarding, but would it be fun to have a dedicated thread every week (*or however often) to do it as a collective?
If yes, when works for you?
Any suggestions for associated topics? Eg postcarding/music thread? Or cooking/recipe thread?
For me… I’m postcarding most nights, but Tuesdays are usually reliably free. Or maybe weekends? Those are less consistently available for me, but at least I don’t need to work the next day. XD And, of course, this doesn’t need to fit my schedule either!
P.S. Might be posting this around a bit the next few days so apologies in advance if you see this multiple times… Just want to try to catch all potentially interested postcarders.
lamh47
SMH…the highers up tried to save face from the head guy speaking at RNC…so they chose not to endorse.
The claim is majority of members were turning to Chump…if that was the case then they shoulda just voted to endorse Chump. My money is it’s a lie and they know the membership, even if going for Chump, sure aint’ like ole dude at the RNC.
Also too, the Black caucus of Teamsters and the California segment of the Teamsters already edorsed MVP. SMH…now though with all these bigger local segments endorsing HARRIS/WALZ the national heads looks like fools IMHO.

Teamsters in CA, MI, NV, and WI have endorsed Harris: dKos. I understand the dilemma of endorsement by Teamsters at the national level, and respect that leadership wants to reflect members, but fuck those idjts.

I saw a TFG sign at a street corner in South Phoenix today. South Phoenix used to the primarily minority area of Phoenix but its been getting gentrified and the newer areas are more diverse but still not an area I would think TFG has a chance of winning. The area is part of Gallego’s district.

I mean the head guy literally had an prime featured speaking spot at the RNC.

I don’t know if anyone else is interested, but the Coast Guard has released more findings in the investigation of the Titan submersible implosion. It’s not really anything new, but confirms that the owner of the company didn’t know what he was doing, and didn’t listen to the people telling him that. We need a name for the special variant of Dunning-Kruger that’s caught by billionaires.

@dc:
Because we don’t know who was at fault here. That’s much of the problem with the “Zero Vision” push: it absolves reckless non-car users of any responsibility. It’s a contributing factor, in the opposite direction of what it’s stated goals are, to the significant increase in injuries/fatalities since that program was pushed: people don’t act defensively. The number of entitled, white people here with children who take their 4-year olds out in traffic on an e-bike is moronic. Better to be alive (and your kids alive) than to make a moral point. As a lifetime motorcyclist, we learned that early on. But these days? It’s always “blame the cars” no matter what.
Again, don’t know who was at fault here but if it was the reckless, e-unicycle person…

Is the electric unicycle what I call (in my head) “the wheel”? A motorized wheel. I tend to laugh at them. I always think of the comic strip “B.C.”, where the main dude would get around on the stone wheel. The Marathon gas station would give away drinking glasses with the B.C characters….
Funny how in our lifetime that prehistoric comic strip has become real. Waiting for a Flintstones-mobile, or of course the Jetson’s car.

Also, not much made of last week that Harris visited Greensboro and had her event in the Coliseum in the actual Arena and drew over 17,000 to a 20,000 seat Arena. It’s not like the RNC speech was particularly Pro-Trump. He basically went and pitched unions and labor to the Republican party at their own convention. It was profoundly weird.
Jackie
@Nettoyeur: Not true. Harris won’t punish the teamsters ala TCFG. She’s better than that.

The King County lightrail system here opened 4 more stations along 8 more miles added to the north end of the line. That came in very handy for me today, when I had to take my car to a shop in Everett for some body work and then had to get back down to UW Medical Center, in Seattle, where I work.
Mind you, I always take lightrail to work; the issue was how to get there from the shop in Everett. I was very pleased to find that a bus route about a block from the garage goes all the way down to one of the new lightrail stations. Rode the bus, hopped on the train, and it took about 90 minutes all told. That’s not bad at all; driving in rush hour traffic would take nearly as long and be a lot more stressful.
Tomorrow I do again in reverse, to go get my car.

We drove from very rural central Oregon through rural WA to Leavenworth, WA yesterday, and on to Whidbey island today, so lots of rural roads and residents but only 4 tRump signs, one a tiny one tacked onto a huge state office seeker’s sign, and another just a very ragged small flag. Noted an equal number of Harris/Walz signs here on Whidbey, including a Veterans Against Trump sign. There’s a naval air base here so you’d expect it to be conservative but looks pretty darned blue to me.
The lack of tRump kit everywhere in rural central Oregon is a huge change from 2020; it slowly disappeared from 2020 through 2022. It’s almost like loser stink does matter to these racist jerks.

He could hardly keep his composure last night talking about the Georgia case, fighting back tears and remembering that his own mom needed a D&C after a miscarriage after she had 5 kids and the Catholic priests in Boston didn’t weigh in with their opinion about it. My joint council immediately responded to the international sitting this one out by endorsing Harris/Walz. But it’s embarrassing to see this kind of eff up, and the international has a lot more resources to put towards the race.
