Double Angel Matching for the weekend (Saturday and Sunday until midnight)
Let’s keep this really simple. We have Angel Matches for both organizations and for our AZ Candidates list, and we have an Angel who is willing to match the angles, so double-Angel matching for donations up to $100 for each thermometer, all weekend.
THIS WEEKEND WILL BE OUR LAST ANGEL MATCHING FOR CANDIDATES – UNTIL WE COMPLETE OUR TWO ORGANIZATIONS, which are the most time-sensitive.
Four Directions: 6x (double-Angel match + external match)
Worker Power: 3x (double Angel match, no external match)
AZ Candidates: 3x (double Angel match, no external match)
(No match for the AZ Supreme Court + Abortion Protections.)

If you’re up for helping us get to our goal faster, we have an Operation Blue Arizona fundraising page that you can share with friends and family and on social media. They won’t get the Angel matches unless the comment, but there Four Directions donations will get the external match.

This does say it’s an open thread, and there’s an Innocence Project case that’s weighing on my mind enough that I will mention it here. I just told someone I would use social media to try to get more people to speak up about Marcellus Williams, who is slated to be executed by the State of Missouri on Sept. 24, even though Wesley Bell (prosecuting atty) had filed a motion to vacate Williams’ sentence as wrong.

$105,000 for AZ is a long way away, but there’s still so much more work to be done, and more key candidates to support in other states.
I hope this isn’t asking for too much, but we only get one shot at this. And the results in November will be forever.

I hate to be a math pedant, but wouldn’t that be 3x matching for the two without external matches? At least I assume that if I give $100 to Worker Power, for instance, each angel matches me and gives another $100 for $300 total. This would also be consistent with the external match upping the Four Directions match to 6x, since it’s all the same to them whether the money comes from an angel or one of the rest of us.
(Unless one angel matches my $100 with a second $100, and the other angel matches my $100 and the first angel’s $100. That’s possible and would be 4x matching, but I wouldn’t expect it to work that way.)

Since the external donor matches what’s in the thermometer, it comes out the way I describe above.

@divF: A couple of years ago or whenever, I set up a monthly donation to Four Directions so they have some ongoing support also. It doesn’t show up in any thermometer, but I agree they seem to be doing an excellent job with an important group.

@Jim Appleton: The thermometers never include the external matches – they give directly to the organization after we meet the goal.
Angel matches? It depends. All the Angel matches were in last night, so anything put in today that is matched won’t show up in the thermometer until the angels put their money in. Which I will ask them to do first thing Monday morning. So once those go in hopefully on Monday, then the thermometers WILL reflect donations + the most recent Angel matches.
Does that make sense?

Actually, if set up the recurring donation through a Balloon Juice ActBlue thermometer, it WILL show up in our ActBlue thermometer!
but if you set it up, say, in the Georgia thermometer in 2021, then that thermometer is still showing increasing donations, but you won’t see it because you are not seeing that thermometer anymore.

I had hoped to urge people to vote the whole ballot in Arizona, focused on the 7 statewide (including AZ Supreme Court retention), 5 district, 6 countywide offices, and the 2 citizen initiatives: for abortion access and for electoral reform like all-party primaries with ranked choice voting.
There are also about 10 local officially non-partisan elections, 2 court of appeals retention elections, and 42 (!) local retention judicial elections in Maricopa County.
And Republicans loaded the ballot up with 11 measures added by the legislature to exhaust and confuse people:
2 measures to make it more difficult for citizens to get initiatives on the ballot,
Lower minimum wage for tipped workers,
Warrantless arrests of persons who suspected of being noncitizens, with blanket immunity from civil lawsuits that might result from unjustifiable actions under cover of enforcement of this racist law,
2 measures for the legislature to limit the executive,
Mandatory life sentences for anyone convicted of child sex trafficking,
Some bogus thing for them to carry on about “loitering…panhandling, public urination or defecation” etc….

Get this:
Switching from judicial retention elections to life tenure appointments, made retroactively applicable to the shameless reprobates up for retention election, in case they lose the retention election on the very same ballot.
Seem like they’re hoping they’ve added enough, uh, urination and defecation to the ballot that enough people won’t vote the whole ballot, so their dishonorable judges can cling to power even if voted out.
