True story: some years ago I was in New York at a midtown hotel at the News and Doc Emmys. My wife was up for one (production design), and after the affair had been going for a while I snuck in (tix are very expensive). She won—yippee!—(1 of her 3 statues, not that I’d ever brag on her) and eventually the affair was over. We headed out with some of the other folks from that production and we wanted to raise a celebratory toast. So we turned to the guy next to us, very dapper in a well-tailored tux—and asked him if he knew of a good bar nearby to do so. He turned to us and it was Blitzer—who hadn’t won whatever it was he was up for. He grumped at us and said he wasn’t from NY and walked off.

The reality is more often than not, they don’t.

If we expect the news media to do its duty, the tale of history tells us that we shall be grievously disappointed. And as for yelling at the TV, let me know how that’s working for you.
My personal solution is to watch local news at dinner time and then MSNBC. If the press is a mess of conventional wisdom, craven clickbait, and horse race nonsense, I say, choose the news that best comports with you. And smile when a Nancy Pelosi bitch slaps a Jake Tapper for asking inane questions.

We just had a tornado come through. Dog hated it—basement steps have no risers on the back so he felt like he was being asked to walk on thin air and was not a fan of descending. The vast majority of the main media, especially TV, long ago realized that for the most part it didn’t matter what they say as long as they have viewers. And if you actually listen to them you will notice that most of what they say isn’t actually news, it is almost all the level of gossip. Unless there is something big to talk about, which they may not really put high priority on if they think it may disturb their income. Let’s face it they exist to make money and how they do that is to have regular listeners so that people will pay them to put more and more commercials on. It’s not about news it’s about making money talking about stuff.
