They Think We’re Stupid & That Our Lives Do Not Matter
The women are bringing it.
BREAKING: I offered a resolution to simply say, "Yes, women have a right to get abortion care when their life is at stake."
Senate Republicans blocked it.
Trump abortion bans are killing women—and Senate Republicans are sitting by and letting it happen.

Rep Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) brilliantly exposes Project 2025 for what it is, a manifesto that furthers White Supremacy. Take 90 seconds to watch the Congresswoman and then let's all VOTE🗳️to #DumpTrumpsProject2025 by electing Dems up and down the ballot. pic.twitter.com/nD00KZyKS6

“You will no longer be abandoned, lonely or scared. You will no longer be in danger. You’re not gonna be in danger any longer. You will no longer have anxiety from all of the problems our country has today. You will be protected, and I will be your protector. Women will be happy, healthy, confident and free. You will no longer be thinking about abortion.”
— Donald Trump, at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Monday
It is so much nicer being a woman, now that Donald Trump is in charge!
You barely remember the Biden times at all, except in nightmares. In the dreams, regular eggs cost as much as Fabergé eggs. All the food at the grocery store is too expensive — if you made it to the store at all without being killed, sometimes twice. Also you were always thinking about abortion.
But then you wake up all the way and Donald Trump is protecting you and you are not thinking about abortion.
Mostly you feel wonderful all the time, happy and confident and not depressed because all that has been fixed. Every single problem the country had! Poof! And all you had to do was stop thinking about abortion.
Now, Donald Trump is back and you are not thinking about anything. All your anxieties are gone, now that men are handling all the country’s problems. It would have been a mistake to put a woman in charge! Fortunately, that did not happen. Fortunately, Donald Trump is guarding you. You are guarded! You are not worrying your pretty little head. Donald Trump is protecting you, just like the Bible said should happen. It did not mention him by name, but that was implied.
It was so tough in the before times, when you had to act as though you were a person. It was exhausting, like a dog standing on its hind legs all day. Of course, you weren’t a person, not really, and it is so much nicer to get to stop pretending. Much more restful this way. You are not thinking about abortion. Abortion is back in the hands of those who know best. The choice was the exhausting part; now, you get to be a blessed vessel and raise up as many children as they have decided is best. It is much nicer now.
It is so much nicer being a woman in Trump’s world
Before, you thought abortion might even be a reason to vote. You voted! You could laugh, or cry, when you think about it. You aren’t sure which. Donald Trump will know.
Thank God the national nightmare of forcing you to make choices — as though your thoughts and desires mattered — is at an end. You wake up and smile at the picture of your patron saint, Donald Trump. You go to the market (JD Vance is in charge of eggs now; he has been lecturing the hens about the need to fertilize more of them) and buy one dozen. They cost exactly the right amount. You are not thinking about abortion.
Nothing is the matter here. You are so much more relaxed now that the country has no more problems. Sometimes, you don’t think that all of them were problems, but the thought is quick to vanish. You don’t think about abortion. How could you think about abortion? There is no abortion here. It is with the states where it belongs. It isn’t where you are. It’s not important. You’re not important. Donald Trump is protecting you.

That statement about protecting us and how we’ll be happy all the time just screams for a restraining order. Is there such a thing as a class action restraining order?
Ishiyama
The purpose of the Bill of Rights is to protect minority interests against popular violation. Letting “the States” vote on personal rights runs afoul of the Ninth Amendment, whatever the Supreme Court may say at the moment. The Declaration of Independence is clear: life, liberty, and happiness are inalienable rights, meaning that “the people” cannot give them away, even if they vote to do so. (And the 9th Amendment incorporates the doctrines stated in the Declaration, despite what judges might rule to the contrary). (That’s not what they taught me in law school, but it is correct anyway.)
Gretchen
I really wish that when people want to preserve “life of the mother” they’d say “life and health of the mother”. Life-only exceptions don’t work because it’s not clear how much danger she has to be in before acting. That ends up risking her life and harming her health. Forced birthers oppose health exceptions because they think we’ll use it to excuse “too many” abortions, so risking kidney failure is worth it to prevent those frivolous, impulse abortions.
I love Jasmine Crockett. That hearing where the old white guy tried to say that Texas broadband installations were behind because of diversity forgot who he was talking to.
“This election is the best example of why y’all are so afraid of diversity, equity and inclusion. Because then you can’t have a simple-minded, underqualified white man somehow end up ascending. Instead, you have to pay attention to the qualified Black woman on the other side,” she said, referring to Trump and Harris.

Donny’s still riding the “EVEN EXECUTION OF A BABY AFTER BIRTH” pony. I can’t guess who is being targeted with this clearly scripted slice of lunacy, but like the “Comrade Harris is socialist becoming Communist” thing that targets Cuban and Venezuelan immigrants [got yer trigger warning right here] the post-birth murder thing has to be aimed at somebody.

I have been voting for over 50 years and have seen time and time again that conservatives seem to think that they own everyone else’s lives along with theirs and so should fully and absolutely control what everyone else does, with their own minds and bodies. It’s asinine – at best. I am a male and therefore cannot grow a human and give birth to them. Why should I have a say in what any woman does with their body? Just for control? Once again, that’s asinine – at best.
I’ve never really understood political conservatism as practiced in this country, because it seems to me to be against every concept of the constitution – the one I swore an oath to protect, that we don’t have any control over our own bodies, and that we have to live by a minority that seems to want to go backwards 200-300 yrs in their concept of government.

Oh, I’m SO glad we’re talking about that Trump quote, because it’s so creeeepy! You just know that someone on his campaign told him about the gender gap and that he had to appeal to women more. And this is his attempt to appeal to women. He thinks they’ll understand that he cares and now they’ll like him more. Brrrr!
Trump is like the stalker in a thriller novel. When his ‘love interest’ is at work, he breaks a basement window to gain access to her house, goes through all her stuff, and leaves a locket on her pillow, held by a teddy bear. He thinks what’s going on is a courtship and she’ll find this little gesture charming and endearing. Of course, she’s creeped out and frightened (‘he was in my house!’), and for good reason. As soon as she fails to respond appropriately to his courtship rituals – through the telephoto lens spying on her coffee break, he discovers she’s NOT wearing the locket! And it was his grandmother’s! – he’s going to rule her unworthy and then things turn really ugly.

Political power is everything in this country. That’s why conservatives spent the last 60 years doing whatever they had to do to gain control of the Supreme Court. The only way to change things is to gain and use political power for ourselves.
The Supreme Court couldn’t care less about your tweets, your protests, your boycotts, your calls for “revolution”, it’s laughing at you. This country only responds to raw political power. It’s not going to be given to us, we have to take it from them. There is no substitute, no shortcut, no one weird trick. Yes activism has its role but it’s going to require A LOT of voting, A LOT; anyone telling you different is trying to sabotage you.

Over time, I believe the SCOTUS opinion granting Presidents immunity will be seen as the worst decision ever rendered by the SCOTUS.
I know it has stiff competition – Dredd Scott, Plessy, Korematsu, Citizens United and Heller; however, the immunity is far worse than these abominable decisions.

One of the hallmarks of fascism, according to Umberto Eco, who lived in it, is the complete and utter disparagement of the female, except as breed stock. In Nazi Germany, women were told that their roles were Kinder, Kuche, Kirche — children, kitchen and church. This was always coupled with a certain kind of hypermasculinity, which valued action over thought and the cult of the hero (which is a death cult).
Mousebumples

I’ve seen the polling. Except for the one outlier (Morning Consult from a week ago) Cruz has been holding a 4-5 percent lead. How many times have we seen breathless fundraising emails from Dem orgs, telling us that Cruz (or McConnell or Graham or Rubio or Joey Superbeatable) is on the ropes (or pick your metaphor)? I’ll probably give some $$ to the Allred campaign, but it would be nice if a Dem, for once, ran a take-no-prisoners campaign against a vulnerable Rethug.
