On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.

We continue with the Vermont leg of our trip, including our visit to the State Capitol.
Outside the building where the Skinny Pancake (a great creperie) is, there lies a nice little statue garden.
…including this pink cat.
Near the Book Garden (the other bookstore in Vermont we visited, it’s more gamer-oriented but still has a good selection) was this window with a quote from saxophonist extraordinaire Eric Dolphy (probably my favorite of the ascended masters). If you look carefully, you may be able to see the Captain’s reflection in the window.
The next day, we got our tour of the State House building. This is a statue of perhaps the last good Republican President (though I’d hear a case for Teddy R).
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this, even though I trust Vermont to do their part.
The Representatives’ Hall in the State House. Vermont has 150 State Reps and 30 State Senators.
There are portraits of past governors in the State House, including this one of Madeleine Kunin, the first woman governor of Vermont.

Thanks for posting this travelogue. Vermont is a beautiful state.

Pretty small town for a capital. Dies everyone just live at home and commute into work every day? That’s a large assembly fir a small state, they must know their constituents well.

Interesting and lovely. Thank you!

Especially love the statue garden, the kitty, and the art displayed in the last photo.

This is great! One of the places I’ve been wanting to go (Montpelier, but also Vermont in general). Thank you! :)
Betsy
Montpeculiar! as it’s called.
A favorite place.

You’re welcome! And I highly recommend that if you’re in Montpelier that you make the hour-ish trip to Lyndonville for the Miss Lyndonville diner (and it’s a scenic drive, to boot).
Captain C
@Trivia Man: I suspect many of them do, especially the many within an hour or so drive. This goes for the elected officials and other government workers. I do think most of the reps know many of their constituents if not all of them; I think it’s expected in Vermont.
