Already doing everything you can to win across the board in November?
I’m asking you to do one more thing – share the link below to our Early October Fundraising on social media and with like-minded friends and family. ⬇️
https://balloon-juice.com/strategic-political-fundraising-in-october-2024/
Please click the link above so you can see what the page is before sharing. It’s a static page (not a post where you can comment) that lists our early October fundraising efforts. And it includes the thermometers for donating.
I hope you’ll think about sharing the link above.
BJ peeps can use THIS POST to let us know about your donations that have an Angel match. Right now, that’s the 4 organizations. Plus we also have $500 left on an Angel match for the AZ candidates.
Thermometers are in the sidebar and in the October Fundraising page that’s linked just above Recent Comments.

I think tmy morning’s engagement is worth a $50 donation. I live in a very large 55+ community in Florida. It’s on the East Coast, just south of Boca Raton. For a Florida 55+ community it’s pretty moderate politically, probably slightly blue. Went to the gym this morning, on the way back stopped at the deli in the community to get some bagel chips. On the way out two guys sitting in a bench talking loudly about how horrible Harris is and how great it will be when Trump is president again. I’ve learned not to talk politics with 80+ men, they’re often nutjobs. Just about out of earshot, then heard one say how “Harris only got the job because she’s colored”. I turned and said “how the hell can you vote for a rapist for president”. He prattled on about how safe the border was under Trump, and then said that Biden was just going after Trump and he didn’t do any of the things he’s accused of. I came back with a measured he’s a rapist, a traitor and a thief. He came back with she’s dumb as an iron pole (never heard that one before). Then I totally lost it, and told him he was a brain dead racist, and said my seven month old granddaughter cared more about this country then he did. The whole time the other guy just told his friend to drop it. I think my parting shot was that if I had a company, I wouldn’t hire Trump to shovel shit. My wife always tells me not to talk politics with anyone you don’t know, and she’s probably right. But I felt pretty damn good afterwards.

@JiveTurkin: I enjoyed your moment vicariously!
You may not have reached the idiot, but maybe you reached some others within earshot. :-
edit: $50 to which thermometer? I want to make sure you get your match.
WaterGirl
@RaflW: I cannot get over that it’s just 4 weeks away. Plus a couple of days.
Staying focused on the work keeps the “what if” panic away.

Is there a sidebar for postcards? I’m coming out of a busy period at work, and would like to write some.
I’m doing some in-person canvassing, but it’s really frustrating.
Thank you!

@Barry: It’s under 2024 Activism in the menu up top.

@JiveTurkin: The sad thing about those 80+-year-old men is that, if it weren’t for Murdoch, they’d probably be fairly rational. They might still be racists, or mysogynists, or some other idiocy, but they wouldn’t be so damned convinced of a “reality” that simply doesn’t exist.
Murdoch is a classic example of what happens when everyone looks away because he’s so rich and there’s so much money to be made.

I gave $100 to Four Directions.
I was going to give to Blue AZ, but I can’t because I’m a federal contractor.
So I gave another $100 to Four Directions.

I don’t have any money to contribute – just paying the bills this month is going to be a stretch, but I did my basic civic duty and dropped my ballot off on Wednesday and will be doing voter greeting for a few sessions at the end of the month. I will be very, very glad when the election is over; my oldest friend talks about it 100% of the time and LOML about 50% of the time, and I don’t really have very many other people I talk to.
It’s going to be a wild month since the rest of the world isn’t standing still. I don’t think it’s just Russians; I think there are a load of other countries trying to twist our political process for their own ends. We notice the Russians more because they’re rude enough to cut ahead of the others in line waiting to mess with our heads.
