And it was great! Thanks so much to Steve Benen, John Cole, and WaterGirl, and for the participants with sharp questions and observations.

That was an excellent, informative, thought-provoking event. Echoing @stinger’s thanks to John, WG, and Steve for making it happen.
Ariobarzanes
Yes, it was great—many thanks to John, Steve and WG!
WaterGirl
@Ariobarzanes: I love your nyms. Her’s is the one I can pronounce, so I hoped the question was her’s. :-)

@Jackie: Here’s an accompanying article explaining Harris’ shirt. And Lizzo! had a few thoughts about TCFG and Detroit – her hometown:

Am I all alone? Where’s every body?

@Jackie: Dunno, seems like commenting has been slow since the Steve Benen zoom. Have to say I was disappointed at the attendance. A fraction of what I had assumed would turn up. The discussion was fascinating anyway!

It was great. – many thanks to Steve, Watergirl and John. (Great book too)
stinger
@Rivers: And thanks for your book recommendation!

@Jackie: I’m from Detroit, and that T-shirt made me laugh. When you’re from Detroit, you have to be tough.
Jackie
@Dorothy A. Winsor: TCFG won’t be amused😂 I love how well Harris trolls him with a smile😊
Jackie
OMG!😱 This really happened:
WaterGirl
@stinger: 32 people had RSVP’d. I think we had 24 people. Great conversation, though, which we might not have had with a ton more people.

@stinger: You’re welcome. What’s great about The Fifth Risk is that its focus is the Trump administration and its total cluelessness (and lack of interest) about how government works, but in the process the reader finds out how many essential agencies quietly go about their jobs supporting our daily lives. I feel I learned so much from it.

@WaterGirl: I popped in for about a minute, One of those days where everything was going wrong, so I couldn’t stay.

@WaterGirl: I’m sorry I didn’t make it. (I think I was always a tentative!) Thank you for organizing — it sounds as if it was great.

@Jackie: That was discussed in the comments downstairs and TBH, I didn’t believe it could be true. So I did a google search and found out that it was indeed true. Trump is losing his ability to know the room. On second thought, I doubt he ever had that due to his narcissism.

So sorry I missed this, but life got in the way.
Lapassionara
@WaterGirl: Thank you for organizing this. I’m hoping to be able to participate in one of these soon.
WaterGirl
@zhena gogolia: It really was a great conversation. Sorry you were’t able to be there, but I get it. Life is complicated and it pulls us in a million directions at once.
Ariobarzanes
@WaterGirl: Thank you, and yes, you got lucky–it was hers! :)
Jacel
Will this Zoom talk be available for viewing later? I was conducting a band for an Oktoberfest. at the time. Otherwise, I would have enjoyed being there when it happened.
WaterGirl
@Jacel: Yes, I will put it up on YouTube and then embed it in a post. It will be a few days before I get to that, though.
Jill
Want to add my appreciation and thanks to John and Watergirl for setting up the meeting and for Steve Benen for being so generous with his knowledge, insights and time.
