Just two weeks from today we will have done everything we can do to have a positive impact on the election.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, I would guess that Friday will be the last day we can donate to candidates and expect that it could have an impact on Nov 5. So including today, we essentially have 4 days left to help our candidates in the sidebar. At that point, no matter what the totals, we’ll be done with that phase and the candidate thermometers will come down. No commitments were made, so it’s not the end of the world if we don’t meet those goals – I just figured that $5k was a meaningful amount for the House Races and that $2k was a meaningful amount for the smaller races.
We have passed the halfway mark on our fundraising for PA, WI, and OH – we are at 55%!
I’ll add Angel match information in comment #1, and I’ll update it throughout the day.
This is hands-down the most watchable / readable piece about Project 2025 that I have seen all year.
Please share this video far and wide.
I’ve seen this all over twitter, but someone just linked to the TikTok, though I don’t recall who. So if it was you, take a bow.
If anyone finds a YouTube version, please link to it in the commutes so I can add it here. Thanks, Old School!
TikTok does this weird thing on my computer where it switches what video plays, so here is the URL for watching and sharing if the one below switches out. Link

Also, let’s use this thread for reporting donations toward Angel matches.
Look for Angel match information in comment #1.

All Angel matches are complete!
As of 5:55 pm, we are 70% of the way to the $41,000 in thermometers for OH, WI, and PA.
Edit: Angels for candidate: I believe I have contacted all of you to say that your match has been met. Apologies if I missed anyone (which I hope I haven’t!)
As the PA, WI, and OH thermometers hit their goals, we are taking them off the board.
First one off the board: Rebecca Cooke (WI-03), with $5,101
Next off the board: Matt Cartwright (PA-08) with $5,001
Third off the board: Greg Landsman (OH-01) with $5,001
That means all our US House Race thermometers are complete!
stinger
I just donated $25 to each of the thermometers, match or no match: WI Cooke and state races, OH Landsman and state races, PA Cartwright and state races, and Four Directions. I did it for democracy.
KrackenJack
Chipped in $100 for each of the three House races. Let’s go!
Got 1000 postcards ready to be mailed early next week. They are third cards to OH voters.
WaterGirl
1,000 postcards! Wow!
RaflW
As always, thanks WG!
I moved a few needles a bit, but matching doesn’t matter for me. Let’s just get to the finish line
eta: Keeping my fingers crossed that Ohio is more of a ray of hope for Kay. I know it’s a tough state, but Dems can make some inroads!

Kathleen
WaterGirl I emailed you also- donated 25 to Landsman and 25 to Ohio Other. Thank you for helping to support our beleaguered state. Now if we could only get an exorcist for the State House… (I’m not being hyperbolic here).
Madeleine
Added $50 to the three thermometers for state races.
Paul W.
50 to PA and WI house races. The wife has personally organized 2k postcards to GA (I’m writing my last 50 now) and another 1k to VA and is doing phone calls every night… I’m joining her when I am done with my cards and we plan on trading off the toddler on the weekend to more or less call all day.
So nervous, and hope it isn’t just my Twitter feed but Democrats seem energized and are putting up good early vote numbers. I don’t feel what the polls are saying so just staying busy. Let’s go!
Cheryl from Maryland
The daughter of one of my friends moved to Ohio. My friend is spending a month in Ohio as a volunteer working for the Ohio Democrats (she’s got mad organizational skills) and writing postcards. A few days ago she met Sherrod Brown who thanked her for coming from Maryland to help out.
WaterGirl
@stinger: @KrackenJack: Thank you!
WaterGirl
@Kathleen: Got it and replied, thank you!
WaterGirl
@Paul W.: @Cheryl from Maryland:
You guys are inspiring me with your stories.
Mousebumples
Thank you everyone for all you’re doing!
Ben Wikler calls the MOE of polling, the margin of EFFORT.
I’m so hopeful that our effort to GOTV and support progressive candidates will show our on election day.
It’s hard to not get caught up in 2016 election PTSD, but when it comes down to it, I think we’ve got this.
unrelatedwaffle
$100 to the Ohio State races!
WaterGirl
@unrelatedwaffle: Thank you!
WaterGirl
@Mousebumples: I’m hopeful, too! That damn 2016 PTSD tries to rise up and I swat it away.
As I say to my little Henry early every day: “you’re not helping!” :-)
That’s what I say now, too, when 2016 rears its ugly head, and then I get back to work. I am not going there!
WaterGirl
Interesting! Even though we have a different number of candidates in each State Races thermometer, each candidate has just shy of $1k! That’s pretty good.
3 state races in OHIO
4 state races in WISCONSIN
6 state races in PENNSYLVANIA
WaterGirl
I saw a typo (missing letter, I believe) in the post when I was in the car waiting for Henry, but I’ll be damned if I can find it now. Can someone help me out?
Manyakitty
@Cheryl from Maryland: pass along appreciation from this Ohioan!
TooManyJens
Does anyone know of an organization that’s doing ballot-curing calls? Fair Fight is doing it for GA but I can’t make it tonight and I don’t see any more dates scheduled yet. I’ve been trying to look for other curing phonebanks on Mobilize but either they’re not there or I’m just not finding them with search.
I’m planning to go home from PA next Monday (though there’s a small chance I’ll stay until 11/5) but I want to still contribute after I get home.
Also too, have knocked on 348 doors so far and hoping to get to 500 before going home. HOWEVER, and this is great news, the packets are getting smaller because we’re not going to the doors of people who have already voted! One of the packets I did on Sunday went from 44 to 32 doors once we eliminated people who had voted. So if I don’t hit 500 doors, it will be for the best reason.
mac
I see my match for the OH state candidates was finished, so I put in my $600. Thank you everyone!
Maxim
@WaterGirl: Your N key is acting up again. “we’ll be done with that phase ad the candidate thermometers will come dow”
Also looks like there’s an extra space after “the,” as long as you’re fixing things.
WaterGirl
@mac: Yes, so sorry, I am behind on sending emails to Angels!
Maxim
A final $25 to each of the thermometers in the sidebar. Wish it could be more, but my accounts are depleted.
WaterGirl
@Maxim: thank you!!! For the edits and the donations.
mac
@WaterGirl: No worries at all — thank you for all your work organizing these thermometers!
la caterina
I woke up at 4:00 am and put in another $100 each for PA candidates and Greg Landsman. Thanks for all you’re doing, WG! You are a wonder.
WaterGirl
@la caterina: I think we’ll win in 2 weeks, likely even the Senate (fingers crossed).
But if we don’t win it, it won’t be for lack of trying!
There go two miscreants
$100 each to Landsman, Cooke, and Cartwright. $300 to Ohio, $300 to PA.
Here in New Hanover County NC (Wilmington) the early voting sites have been running substantial lines since the start. Currently showing 40 to 75 minute wait times (saw 100 min at one yesterday) according to the online page. In my walks around the neighborhood there aren’t many signs, but including local candidates the Dems definitely outnumber the GOP.
Can I do this later?
@TooManyJens: Hope you get this. Here’s a link to a larger vote curing operation (it looks legit to me but I haven’t done it myself). Good luck!

WaterGirl
@There go two miscreants: Thank you!!!
ewrunning
I just did $25 each to the three House races and to the three State races.
WaterGirl
@Can I do this later?: I sent her that info by email in case she doesn’t see your comment.
WaterGirl
@ewrunning: Thank you!

OH State Races (3 Candidates) $300
WI State races (4 candidates) $400
PA State races (6 candidates) $600

Larch
Just donated $50 each to the 3 state races & to Four Directions
KBS
De-lurking to say – I kicked in $100 for OH-01, WI-03, PA-08, and Wisconsin state races.
WaterGirl
@A woman from anywhere (formerly Mohagan): Wow, that’s a lot, of course it helps!!!
Thank you.
WaterGirl
@KBS: Thank you!!
Ukai
Dropped $25 in each of the five remaining thermometers.
WaterGirl
@Ukai: Thank you!
WaterGirl
So exciting to wake up and check the thermometers – and find that Greg Landsman and Matt Cartwright had reached the $5,000 mark!
WaterGirl
Thanks, everyone! New post up for any donation matches.
