I just received an email message from an Angel offering a $1k Angel match for WI and a $1k Angel match for PA. (Sorry, OH!)
Matching up to $100 per person per thermometer. To be matched, ell us about your donation in a comment or by email to WaterGirl
.
.
Open thread.
WaterGirl
I just dialed down the goals a little bit.
Wisconsin and PA are now set to what the thermometer would read if both of the matches are met.
That still gives each candidate about $1,750, which is still a meaningful amount of money for these races.
Update at 10:55 pmm.
About to head for bed, but here’s where we’re at.
$207.11 will complete Ohio
$145 will complete Wisconsin ($45 left on the match, and the match is already in)
$775 will complete PA ($425 left o the match, ad the match is already in)
Almost Retired
$25 each for Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin for me.
WaterGirl
@Almost Retired: Look at you, even without Ohio being matched! :-)

For the postcard peeps:
PostcardsToVoters.org currently has addresses for half-a-dozen candidates, including Matt Cartwright in PA… for whom BJ just raised $$$.
Super-sekrit trick: If your post office is out of regular “Forever” postcard stamps, you can use 2 “extra ounce” Forever stamps (currently worth 28 cents each) per postcard – it’s the same total value.
Currently the extra-ounce Forever stamps are little yellow school buses. Older versions have rabbits, and/or tiny illustrations of Uncle Sam in a top hat. Use 2 per postcard, and you’re golden.
CTlurker
Put 25.00 for Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Thanks to our new angel!

@H.E.Wolf:
thanks!
H.E.Wolf
@BlueGuitarist:
You’re welcome!
I’m school-busing my way through another tiny batch of postcards… it all adds up.
My apparently empty ballpoint pen has been continuing to write just fine, regardless. I’m choosing to see this as a good omen. :)

Donated $30 to the WI State Races
There go two miscreants
$120 for PA, $100 for WI.
persistent lurker
I just donated $200 for my beautiful (yet politically weird) home state of Wisconsin!
Lyrebird
@H.E.Wolf: Thanks for the update and thanks @WaterGirl: , you are amazing!
I haven’t donated, still catching up from being in a tight spot, but I have been doing my PT, my wrist is getting better, and I just signed up for some more addresses.
I sent what I thought I could manage – 35 – in a Florida campaign last month or August, then had to stop. I still have some stamps, though, since BJ peeps donated a bunch, and WaterGirl encouraged me to aim higher.
I live within Josh Riley’s (D NY, narrow loss two years ago) media reach, so I’m going to start there.
WaterGirl
@persistent lurker: Let’s hope it gets less politically weird with the newly drawn maps!
WaterGirl
@CTlurker: @rodwell: @There go two miscreants: @persistent lurker:
Thank you all!
WaterGirl
@Lyrebird: I think it’s the Angels and the other people who are donating who are amazing!
It’s hard to beat a good three-legged stool!

I love this from Gloria Johnson: “Deport yourself, Marsha!”
I so want to make that a rotating tag, but I’m afraid it would’t make sense to anyone.
cursorial
$100 to my former home of Wisconsin, a small atonement for moving from a critical swing state to deep blue western Washington.
WaterGirl
I never look at polling so I have no idea. Is there much of a chance that Gloria Johnson could win the senate seat?
I wonder if she had to give up her House seat to run? Hopefully not.
edit: The Google says she is running for both seats. That works for me!
WaterGirl
@cursorial: Thank you! Are the winters easier in Washington?
Wapiti
50 to PA, 50 to WI. Thanks angels!
WaterGirl
@Wapiti: Thank you!
cursorial
@WaterGirl: Easier, yes – although truthfully, as a city person, Wisconsin winters didn’t bother me too much. I didn’t have to shovel driveways or navigate unplowed roads. 10 years in, watching Seattle shut down under threat of half an inch of snow is still entertaining.
WaterGirl
@cursorial: I’m from Chicago, so I laughed out loud.
Mousebumples
@H.E.Wolf: thanks for mentioning this here. I was debating if I needed to email WaterGirl with some “as we wind down postcarding…” content, like that school bus/extra ounce trick!
Mousebumples
@WaterGirl: I tossed $750 in the Wisconsin thermometer earlier, if anyone wants to retroactively count it as a double match.
WaterGirl
@Mousebumples: Wowser!
H.E.Wolf
Thank you for including it in the earlier thread!
WaterGirl
There’s $570 left on the Wisconsin match. If we make the match, Wisconsin will be at $7,500.
Mousebumples
@WaterGirl: thanks to the mystery angel, too! I’m not sure how much will be left after the angel match, but we’ll probably be close to your goal in Wisconsin.
In other news, I got a thank you postcard from WisDems and Ben Wikler today. Made me smile. Yay, Postcards!
WaterGirl
@Mousebumples: Look at my comment just before yours. I was answering your question while you were still writing it. :-)
Mousebumples
@WaterGirl: haha, yup! Great news!
WaterGirl

Wisconsin and PA are now set to what the thermometer would read if both of the matches are met.
That still gives each candidate about $1,750, which is still a meaningful amount of money for these races.
So:
$400 for Ohio
$500 in donations for Wisconsin (plus the $1k match)
$1,200 in donations for PA (plus the $1k match)
That’s $2,100 total – plus the matches.
Bottom line: I think wherever we’re at on Thursday night is where we’ll stop for these states.
