Does Trump’s staff hate him? They seem to be committing campaign malpractice at least once a day. It’s 101 to never allow the candidate to be photographed in any unusual or uncharacteristic outfit or headgear. Most especially in the closing days of the campaign when your audience is exhausted and cranky and will delight in a trivial and frivolous reason to mock the candidate. And they’ve done in twice in a week! Their guy is half a Village People!

Lately most CBS hourly radio news reports carry contrasting soundbites from the candidates’ speeches that day
I thought Harris had the advantage last night. First, CBS played a Trump complaint about how Biden had called his followers “garbage” delivered in a flat, mournful tone. Then they played a more vigorous Harris telling a cheering crowd that if Trump were to be elected, he would bring an “enemies list” to the White House, but that when she is elected she will bring a “to-do list.”

It’s a problem for Democrats that the right wing media and foreign troll farms generate criticisms that get echoed online and it’s not just Trump supporters that it sinks in with. A lot of people that are basically apolitical see that stuff and it sinks in with them too. A decade later we still don’t have much of a clue how to combat it.

Trump got late undecided voters to break for him in 2016 and 2020, which polls had not picked up on. I hope this year is different. Polls may be over compensating for this.
Also, Trump will gain with male voters, especially white men, versus how he did in 2020. Harris has to rely on minorities and women turning out for her in large numbers to win.
The real question is what will white women do? Does a majority finally break from Republicans and vote for Harris? If they do, I think Harris can win big. I’m not holding my breath for it to happen.

@Baud: truth. every time the dems have moved the needle on an important policy area, you immediately have a bunch of dems rushing in to every media channel they can find talking about how it didn’t go far enough, isn’t good enough, should have been better. Or turning to the next issue they want done and bitching about how nobody has done anything about that one.
We have historically been terrible at taking a victory lap to celebrate accomplishing something. (A huge problem in the Obama era. Biden has been better about it, but the party itself isn’t where it needs to be) It’s a significant part of why we’ve struggled to grow the coalition as much as we should have, based on actual accomplishments. I feel like Harris’ positivity could help in this area, but it needs to get more.
This is also where some of us have gotten exhausted by the far left and the Bernie Bros, who only find massive transformative change that’s done to their specs and on their schedule by their people to be acceptable, and any incremental improvement (even when it’s a really BIG increment) to be unacceptable and a betrayal of the movement. It cuts our throats in the next election and leaves clowns like Sinema and Manchin with the power to keep blocking greater efforts.

What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?
@Baud: Maybe the undecided voters I’ve heard interviewed are closet conservatives owning the libs. Or maybe they’re telling the truth when they say they hate Trump but the economy was better in 2019 so they might vote for him on that. That’s a constant theme among those voters. Yes he’s getting a huge mulligan on the pandemic which isn’t fair but that’s what they’re saying. A possibility I’m willing to entertain is they’re Republican leaning voters using the socially acceptable excuse to vote for him, which they’re leaning towards doing anyway. They’re saying it’s the economy when really it’s the hate or misogyny but they don’t want to admit that as the reason.

The Great Orange Satan and Team Garbage called Albuquerque a few days ago to demand we let him come to our downtown convention center which is undergoing plumbing repairs, and he was denied. One of the City Council members started calling all over trying to threaten people to overturn the decision (although he denies it) and he and the Mayor got into a text message fight about it. Trump still owes us close to a half a million dollars for his last lovely visit here, by the way.
Then they tried to set up a makeshift event at a Republican owned space near the airport and have people part on state owned land and get bussed in. State Land Commissioner said, uh, NO.So now they’re going to park in a developer owned area on the streets and get bussed in. There’s only one major road into the place so that oughta be great.
He’s going to lose NM, and Albuquerque even more so, he is wasting his time here. Even Cheney had the sense to go to places in the state that actually welcomed him like Roswell. He has to shove himself everywhere because most people don’t want him. Decades ago I worked as a mental health counselor and there were folks that no one at the clinic wanted to deal with because having all your teeth pulled without any anesthesia – in under 2 minutes, was less painful. We were doing this as a pubic service, and for some patients there wouldn’t be enough money if all the spare cash in every bank in the state were added up and paid for each 50 minute session. And we weren’t getting paid at all.
Humans fill every space on the game card, from absolutely great, to pure shit walking. And unfortunately it’s the pure shit walking that need the most help. But it is also the pure shit walking that can grind you down the most and the fastest. And people that have been this way for decades are the hardest to help, mostly because they think everything wrong in their lives is everyone else’s fault, never their’s. It takes a lot of time, only going one foot at a time, and effort, just getting them to realize who is most often the root cause of the problem let alone make any real progress. At least they recognized that there was an issue and that they needed help. Those were not the only people that asked for help, just the ones that were the most difficult and time consuming.

@Shalimar:
he looks like a jail prisoner going for an insanity plea
Good call. Because that’s what
he is,except he’s not going for it, he’s already actually insane – OK maybe not technically diagnosed insane, but he’s at the gate, repeatedly pressing the door bell to the asylum.artem1s
Are his campaign team drunk?
The only thing I can figure is they are at that stage of the campaign where they are trying to make him seem harmless. Or at least mostly harmless. Or at least mostly harmless except to the people his cult want to see get hurt. It’s so hard to remember what 2016 was like. I think there were a lot of people who voted for him then because he as a buffoon. It was a poke in the establishment’s eye and an insult to Hillary and women everywhere (better a buffoon with a penis than an overqualified vagina with cankles).
It’s harder to sanewash and whitewash this year with P25 looming and SCOTUS 6 waiting to crown him King for life to believe that he and his ‘best people’ are too incompetent to be able to do any real damage. Distracting the MSM with buffoonery may be giving them too much 11 dimensional chess credit. But honestly it might just be reflex and all they have left.

You know what I love about Trump voters? They keep believing in their hero, even when he screws up his bronzer so badly you know he’s a pale, shrunken, fat, loser who has to hide his very *skin* from the world, for fear people will see what a phony he is.
They’re so *cute* in their slavish dedication. They think of their tiny-fingered twit as some kind of genius, when his only real talent is trying to drum up outrage. Scalp reduction surgery that makes him look ridiculous; big, fat, bent-over toadlike appearance; shoe lifts he was more concerned about than his *life*; bronzer that he *insists* he doesn’t use; no wonder they have to put his face on heroic figures – they can’t even stand to look at the real man behind their god-emporer.
