Thank you, WaterGirl.

Beautiful. Google credits illustrator Anita Jeram for the lovely image in this post.

Michael Brewer of Brewer and Shipley has passed away per Tom Shipley.
Tom wrote a few hrs ago: “Michael Brewer, my friend of 65 years and music partner for over 60, had to go. I saw him on Saterday at Cox Hospital in Branson and he told me he wanted to go home. He was weak and very tired. They took him home on Sunday and his wife Scarlett called this morning to tell me he was gone. So tonight I will raise a glass to Michael and drink to all those years, all those miles, all those songs, and all the heavenly audiences we played for. Go with God my friendl. I’ll see you on the other side.”
I think most of us know “One Toke Over The Line.”

Biglyfooted! Six minutes may be some kind of record.
:)

@NotMax: I doubt it is a record but I hope they rename them Tuesday Open Thread 1.0 and Tuesday Open Thread 2.0 because it gets confusing if you start reading the comments from the “recent comments” on the sidebar like many of us do.
This Tuesday Open Thread is getting lonely.
I’ll report that I was able to get my 2018 Accord recall work done on the fuel pump. They recalled several million vehicles but had no parts. It took many months for them to get enough of the parts for all the vehicles recalled.
Helpful hints if your Honda is on the recall: They want your gas tank less than half full and call ahead of your appointment to make sure they have the part. The dealers get deliveries all the time but they get installed as quickly as they get them in.

Damn, been over the line and back again countless times. Here’s to ya Michael, thanks for the music and the memories it brings… Now what the hell did I do with that weed pen..
Rusty
That is a beautiful cartoon, I needed that. Thank you for sharing.
sab
That cartoon is so cute.
Everytime I see the “dogs and cats living together” meme (as if it’s weird) I think of Ponyo pitbull asleep on the bed with multiple cats asleep beside her and occasionally on top of her. And wish that Echo the new cat could figure this out. She will eventually. She has only had six months to adjust
ETA My cats might give the bone. My dog would definitely eat the fish instead of giving it away. She crawled under the bed and ate Echo’s dry kibbles this morning. Echo doesn’t even like dry kibbles, but Ponyo didn’t know that. Ponyo couldn’t reach the wet stuff.

And then there was Lawrence Welk.

@NotMax: My parents used to watch the Champagne Musicmaker all the time. I remember doing my best not to bust a gut laughing, because my parents thought it was a wonderful song, because Gail and Dick sang it. If Guy and Ralna would have done that song, the laughter would have been off the charts.

@NotMax:
That song, sung by a woman in a white pinafore and whatever that hairdo is called and a man trying hard to look like Pat Boone’s younger, more innocent, brother, is the very definition of cognitive dissonance.

One of my assignments when worked at an ad agency was to prepare a report on why General Foods should keep advertising Sanka on the Welk program after it was cancelled and went into syndicated reruns. Successful in that the advertising continued.
(The Sanka brand has since been gobbled up by Kraft.)

@Scout211:
Thanks for the tip about the gas tank! I’m still waiting on the notice that the parts are in for my CRV.
WTFGhost
@sab: I believe the meme of “cats and dogs living together” as a sign of the apocalypse was from “GhostBusters” (the original).
Quiltingfool
I’ve put some new stuff in my Etsy store. No dog theme quilts, sorry, but there are some kitty quilty stuff! My favorite is “Dreaming of a Free Ukraine,” – cats snoozing under flowers!
Parfigliano
Perfect.
Raoul Paste
Goodwill.
I am in favor of it.

@jame:
Late getting back. I found it interesting that Brewer had ended up in the Branson, MO area. Seems a lot find God in Branson.

@Torrey: I KNOW, lol…I always wondered if anyone explained to Welk what the song was actually about. I used to be subjected to nightly reruns of that show whenever I visited my parents in FL. The visual was gob-smacking. I never said a word, however.
zhena gogolia
@NotMax: One of my favorites!
frosty
@NotMax: OMG!! I had to pass that one along to my friends.
WaterGirl
@VFX Lurker: Thanks for that. Updated the image to add the credit.
