Christmas Day 1959 in Huntsville, Alabama. We would have been 8, 5, 4, and 3 here. (I’m the blonde kid with her eyes closed.) I’m thinking my mom did the tinsel on the tree – no way could us kids have hung that much that straight. Note that even my brother has a doll. My folks were way ahead of their time.
In addition to the annual posed picture, my dad also hauled out the big lights and took movies. Fun times.
Huntsville Xmas 1959
As a bonus, here’s the next Christmas card in the Albatrossity series. We’ll let him tell us what year that was.
Adding the Raven classic to the group!

I’ve posted it before but what the hey!

@raven: Always a classic!
Miki’s and Albatrossity’s are great too!

So cute, Miki, Albatrossity, and Raven!
Trivia Man
Thank you for sharing. It looks like true joy. Dolls all around!
WaterGirl
@raven: In previous years, I mostly focused on your “do not fuck with my sister” look to Santa.
But today what jumps out at me is that you and Santa have locked eyes. Looks like a fight just waiting to happen. :-)
WaterGirl
@Trivia Man: Funny, I was never into dolls. I think I got one when I was 5, and that was it. Never got the doll gene, never got the “takes forever in the bathroom” gene, either.
Maybe I was standing in the wrong line?
Lyrebird
All these are great! And I recognized @raven: right away. FWIW @WaterGirl: to me it just looks like Santa’s looking at him like he’s part of the team, “I see you understand the importance of our mission here” kind of thing.
WaterGirl
@Lyrebird: Maybe. But I’m still seeing, “don’t want nothin’ don’t start nothin'” :-)
I love that his sister is totally oblivious to the interaction between the two of them.

@WaterGirl: It’s raven’s hand on his hip that makes it look threatening. That, and the badass jacket he’s wearing.

When my husband was four, he was the middle of three brothers close in age. (Two more arrived later.). He wanted a doll and a baby buggy for Christmas (in 1948), and to his parents’ credit, he received them. He remembers pushing the buggy up and down the sidewalk. (No photos, sadly.)
A woman from anywhere (formerly Mohagan)
Matching jammies for all 4 kids. So cute. And excellent tree!
WaterGirl
@A woman from anywhere (formerly Mohagan): I didn’t even notice the matching PJs – I expected it because of course they were matching!
