@Raven: I saw an online team photo of the Cards with him laughing! sitting next to Bob Uecker(sp).
I have a photo from a StL newspaper of the ’64 World Series champs (they beat the last of the great 1949-1964 Yankee teams) where he looks like he wants to throttle the photographer. Why my dad kept it- he was a Yankee fan- I have no idea.

Thanks for the shot of Josh Gibson’s plaque. That was a long time coming and so good to see.

@p.a.: Not only were they laughing, they were holding hands as a gag. (And I think you spelled ‘Uecker’ correctly, otherwise we both misspelled it)

@moonbat: I’m glad he got belated recognition; not seeing Gibson in the NL or AL is one of the biggest injustices of the segregated era.

By the way, I technically met one of these guys: Lou Brock was friends with my aunt and apparently held me as a baby. Unfortunately I have no memory of this.
