Normally I try to keep an hour between me and the other posters, but I wanted to highlight this solid rant by Rep. John Larson (D-CT), who spoke for many of us in a hearing this afternoon:
Rep John Larson – Connecticut:

Even if I do get a bit worried at how flushed he looks toward the end there, it’s good to hear someone call out Musk as a huckster who’d be happy with privatizing Social Security.
Here’s Rep. Larson’s congressional webpage if you’d like to contact him and thank him for his speech today.
Between this and the Senate Dems not folding on the CR, as noted in Betty’s post below, I feel, like, 2% less despair than I did when I woke up. And that’s not nothing.
Bonus: The UK’s street artists are being delightful little scamps.

Well played Brits, well played. Really bringing the A-game to the ridicule and I am here for it.

Thank you, Congressman Larson!
Calling out that unelected South African Nazi shitstain who is destroying our government.
I hope we have Nuremberg trials in 4 years – or sooner.
October 16, 1946 was a very good day.

You gotta love the Brits. And the Canadians.
Be careful out there— I received a call claiming that my bank did not know my Social Security number, although I have been with them for decades.
When I tried to find the caller’s phone number, it did not appear under Recents. In these days of Musk, it’s enough to freak you out

Some one is mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore.

I’ll post yesterday’s New Yorker Tesla cartoon here.

@Raoul Paste: yikes. I’m sure you don’t need my advice, but some elderly people will fall for that shit.

That was a most righteous rant. Well done.

Like many wealthy Afrikaners, Musk is a predator. The press’s propensity to label conscienceless operators geniuses is galling.

Hold your horses on Senate Dems voting down the CR. There is reporting that Schumer has endorsed a plan where Ds ask the Rs for the opportunity to add amendments (which have no hope of passing) to the CR, then say, “oh look we wanted a bi-partisan process—which is their big beef on the House CR—& then say we got it” and go ahead and let the cloture vote succeed. So, just saying, do not count your chickens before they hatch & I would love to be proven wrong.
ps this is Josh Marshall’s (and a couple other folks) current reporting.

wow, Larson has aged since I last saw him.

This guy has been in Congress for 26 years and I’ve never fucking heard of him. When those quiet guys are popping off, that’s usually worth paying attention to.

@TBone: My banker has confirmed that this is nonsense.

@SW:
Felon Husk is not an Afrikaner. He is a soutpeil.
Afrikaner slang for “salt dick”. I means “one foot in South Africa, one foot in the Atlantic”.
Felon Husk’s already Nazi Dad and Mom left Canada to make money on Apartheid slave labour. Felon Husk fled back to Canada when Apartheid ended and he faced mandatory military service.
He wangled a visa to Stanford as a Foreign Student, never showed up for classes and became an illegal code puppy for a startup.

@Raoul Paste: good on ya. I was hoping to hear you contacted them immediately!

Larson is an old fashioned Irish Democrat – who are prone to getting red-faced- who can work up a head of steam especially about Social Security- his touchstone issue. Between him and my congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, they can bring righteous fury

@Raoul Paste:
I’ve had some calls from people I don’t know and I immediately block them and then delete the call from my phone. I’ve had cellphones for about 30 yrs and I always block callers I don’t want to see. It’s easier now than it was that long ago and the blocking concept seems to be a structural part of some(all?) phones. Which means that a number blocked, stays blocked.

Gerontocrat John Larson has been in elected office since I was 11. Sure, he’s only been in Congress since 1999, but he started in the Connecticut Senate in 1983. He was a school teacher before that. And no one in Hartford will challenge him because wags who could win consider being a freshman Democrat from Connecticut in the minority to be one of the worst jobs in politics.
No One You Know
@Rick Melita: I tried to contact using the form but it won’t accept my Oregon state… so I’ve written to my House rep to ask that he be thanked.
