Birds are not helping me relax right now, because Jackie and Shadow were off the nest for about two whole hours today, and the chicks were exposed to predators during that time.
Shadow is on them now, but those two made my entire afternoon jittery.

So, so beautiful…this brought tears to my eyes.
Jeffro
that was just amazing, thank you WG and Albatrossity!
I’m going to run it by Mrs. Fro and see if we can settle on a top 3-4 but it’ll be tough!!
oldster
Beautiful footage. That Resplendent Quetzal is clearly a fake — nothing could really have those colors.

Fun, but no relaxation!

I love that video. I watched it and was ready to comment and then it disappeared earlier today. Such gorgeous close-ups of some really showy birds. Just beautiful.
I love learning all the names. But Bee-eater and Ox-pecker? I wonder how they came up with those names. 😉

We had some absolutely insane wind and rain today. Hail blowing on the windows. Now it’s fantastic and I’m back to sitting on the porch.
I want nice-looking feet, so I’m sitting here doing one of those foot peels. In 5-7 days, I look forward to my feet moulting like I have leprosy.

Some pretty birbs there, and some of the pretty birbs are little feathered weirdos as added bonus.

@Suzanne: Have you ever tried 40% Urea cream? It does wonders for cracked, dry skin on feet. It also is recommended for the wind/cold burn you described weeks ago on your face.
Added a zero. Oops 40% not 4%
40% Urea cream
Suzanne
@Scout211: I need to try a different urea cream. I tried one, but it basically just slid around and didn’t do anything. I have much better luck with this one, which has salicylic acid instead. The windburn healed up well with Aquaphor!

I just watched The Electric State. (Netflix) The reviews are completely toxic, but… I dunno. I kinda liked it. Curious what other people think. It’s certainly watchable. And if you don’t give it a try, you’ll miss the news footage of President Clinton signing the peace treaty with Mister Peanut.

We joined the spring break throng at Breckenridge today. Pretty day, and a bit of fresh snow. Lift lines in the morning were kind of hefty, but any day skiing/ snowboarding/ skibiking is a good one! Nice to have guests to show around, too.

On Wisconsin got slapped with brats, son!

Spent several hours working on a grant narrative. Now I’m watching The Player’s Championship and rooting for Rory McIlroy.

@Suzanne:
Mmmmmmmm. We had snow this morning.
Timill
@mrmoshpotato: Luxury! We had a tornado yesterday evening. (it missed)

I watched Royce Lewis run to 1st base and pull a hamstring…again.

About to fly to Europe for work and get a taste of their affinity (or lack thereof) of our current policies. More concerned about my stepfather’s upcoming trip out of the country. He is a green card holder for decades, but the recent stories make me worry about what happens when he returns.

@PsiFighter37:
Wear your Harris T-shirt.
Or a maple leaf shirt.
Suzanne
@Baud: The easiest way to not look American while overseas is just to not wear sneakers. Wear oxfords or something.
PsiFighter37
@Baud: I’m not going to wear the Canadian flag and pretend I am someone I am not. I think there is more power to letting people know that there are a lot of Americans (and especially the ones who go overseas) that think things are a clusterfuck right now.
Baud
@PsiFighter37:
👍
mrmoshpotato
@Timill: Glad it missed. I think we had a tornado in 2020 when the deracho blew through.
WaterGirl
@Scout211: It used to be that we could schedule posts, but they would never go up and you would have to force them at the scheduled time. So I could think on Saturday, oh, this might make a nice post for Sunday afternoon, and schedule it for 1pm.
It wouldn’t actually go up at 1pm but I would see it in the back room and choose a time for later or move it to tomorrow and deal with it later.
But we fixed that problem. So when it went up at 1pm today it was terrible timing, because I had just started the Lurkers thread. So i moved it until later, and figured I could put it up if no one else had a post going.
Shorter: I keep forgetting that posts actually publish when you schedule them now, and it takes me by surprise! :-)
See, it’s true! No good deed goes unpunished! (good deed being fixing the scheduling glitch)

@PsiFighter37: I agree.
jowriter
Thanks for the birds. Did my heart good.
Gloria DryGarden
@RaflW: not icy spring skiing, but good snow? Woohoo!
WaterGirl
@jowriter: I could feel my breathing slow as I watched and listened.
Gloria DryGarden
@Baud: i need a maple leaf pin.
zhena gogolia
@WaterGirl: We just took our BP, and it was perfect. Take that, FFOTUS!
NotMax
Woo-hoo! When it comes to relaxing, fell into an uninterrupted five hours of sleep (6:30 – 11:30 a.m.) , more or less double the usual span.

@oldster: My dream is to see a scarlet tanager one day.

@zhena gogolia:

We really enjoyed Douglas Is Cancelled, written by Steven Moffat, with a stellar cast (Hugh Bonneville, Karen Gillan, fantastic Ben Miles, and Alex Kingston). Four episodes, of which No. 2 is a bit slow, but boy, is there a payoff in episodes 3 and 4! Britbox

Just emerged from a tornado warning so am feeling pretty chill
Extra bonus, won’t have to water the garden for a while
NotMax
@zhena gogolia
First misread that as “scarlet teenager.”
:)
zhena gogolia
@NotMax: I’ve seen lots of those.

Plugging away on a shawl and wishing I had picked a different color from the club alternatives (I went with the yellow-green Brass Lantern and I am tired of looking at it). 13 border repeats done and 25 more to go, 16 rows in each border repeat. The directions basically have the border knit at right angles to the body of the shawl, so the border rows are short in comparison to the main body. Still, 25 more repeats to go, and I’m mentally looking for a recipient now.
Also starting to send out resumes and getting discouraged already. Mr. Rudbek is worried about getting RIF’d.

I made soup. I also got ready for the early morning start to the corned beef, which will later have potatoes, carrots and cabbage added to it. And, because it was sunny after yesterday’s wild weather and when AL asks I answer, I took some phone pix of Spring blooms around the hacienda and sent them in to the Garden Chat.
No One of Consequence
Just lovely watergirl, ty. Birbs are really something.
