Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

When we show up, we win.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

If you voted for Trump, you don’t get to speak about ethics, morals, or rule of law.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Cancel the cowardly Times and Post and set up an equivalent monthly donation to ProPublica.

I really should read my own blog.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Human rights are not a matter of opinion!

I think these are the last of the pics from the Hands Off! rallies.  If you sent me some and they haven’t been posted, that means they got overlooked in email, not rejected as unworthy.  :-)   So send me an email and I will look for them, thanks.

Hands off pcs from Comrade Scott!

Not fond of the guillotines. Like the other signs. I am a Gandhian when it comes to politics.

    Dear 1789: I understand now.

    Boy howdy.

And thanks for all well wishes, y’all, I’m home, wearing sweats, cuddling dogs.

These have been some great signs.

We will have occasion to protest and march again, soon.

@schrodingers_cat: not saying we actually want to do that, just that we understand now where 1789 Frenchmen were coming from. ;)

(though if theres a 21st century aristocrat deserving of it, its surely that soutpiel. )

Thanks for posting these, WG. Those last two pics are mine from the Austin rally. We had a raucous crowd of between 3 and 5 thousand, with many creative signs and garments (e.g. Statue of Liberty, Gulf of Mexico t-shirts, rainbow attire, etc.) Speakers included our local Representatives Casar and Doggett.

Many rally attendees had come a couple of hours earlier to speak up for public schools. Texas Republicans are trying to drag us even further back to the past, and all the educators I know are fighting back as hard as they can.

I also want to shout out my relatives in the small town of Haines Alaska. They joined with a hundred others on a cold rainy day to speak out. Great write-up and photos from their local public radio station:
