This is my second favorite thing about Easter – getting to listen to this again, as I do every year, and getting to laugh as if it were the first time.
This being Balloon Juice, I imagine there will be speculation about my favorite Easter thing.

David Sedaris is a national treasure.
Happy Easter, Jackals
Old Dan and Little Ann
I just a picture of Snoop Dogg in a purple bunny outfit with the caption, “When 4/20 and Easter fall in the same day.”
Sister Golden Bear
@Old Dan and Little Ann: “He has Resin!”

Betty’s butter lambs over the years.
If you click on an image, you can see the full size and you can find the year in the URL.

Here is 2025.
Princess
I thought 2025 was the best one ever but it turns out they’re always the best ones ever.
narya
The 2025 lamb is a true masterpiece, IMHO.
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
@WaterGirl:
Cute. I think I like the one from 2016 the most with the little smile.
ETA: 2025 is the best one though. Great work, BC
BTW, is Anne Laurie OK? I thought I read she had been sick. It’s been awhile since a post of hers
WaterGirl
@Goku (aka Amerikan Baka): Cole tells me that Anne Laurie is on the mend.
Old Dan and Little Ann
@Sister Golden Bear: Nice! Lol….
WaterGirl
Trying again now that I’ve labelled the years. Wonder if I missed any.

Lapassionara
Butter lamb 2020 looks a little haughty, but maybe it’s the camera angle.
ETA, what’s with the nostrils?
WaterGirl
@Lapassionara: They definitely have expressions. Even WordPress marks them as FACES.
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
@WaterGirl:
That’s good news. Her morning and late night posts are always great reads
WaterGirl
Finally found 2018!
butter lamb 2018
*2018 has a very sweet face!
WaterGirl
@Lapassionara: 2022 looks like we caught her by surprise. Very pretty, but definitely surprised.
Some years seem to have nostrils, some years not.
frosty
@WaterGirl:
Betty C’s butter lambs are absolutely my favorite thing about Easter. I like the ones lying on the butter wrapper the best.
SiubhanDuinne
@WaterGirl #17
I see that expression as not so much surprised, but kind of quizzical.
ETA: I think b/c the head is slightly cocked, giving it a puzzled and inquisitive expression.
wmd
I will be watching Life of Brian – it’s my traditional Easter Film.

@Lapassionara: I think it’s the long neck – 2020 also has a different feel.
I’ll say 2017 is my favorite.
@WaterGirl Thanks for doing the legwork and posting all these as pictures.
sab
@Goku (aka Amerikan Baka): You are coming to the Columbus meetup?
sab
@WaterGirl: I hadn’t realized that I have had favorites. Lips sealed.
WaterGirl
@SiubhanDuinne: We are in agreement; you just chose the better word. :-)
WaterGirl
@sab: Just like kids. We love them all equally. :-) Just some more than others at various times.
WaterGirl
@wmd: You’re welcome! I thought it might be fun for people to see them all sort of together.
sab
I used to be allergic to eggs. Breaking out in hives allergic. I outgrew that, but I am still wary of eggs.
I grew up in Florida with Ohio parents. Gorgeous weather on Easter was an actual article of Faith to me (children think stupid things). When we moved to Ohio when I was twelve and it rained on our first Easter I was horrified.
I think I dodged a religious nutcase bullet when we moved back north.
Elizabelle
@WaterGirl: I think Betty needs to make a butter alligator too.
sab
I can go to the Emilia Sykes/ Jasmine Crockett thing but husband doesn’t think we can afford it. WTF? It would be tight but I want to go.
Also an extremely busy weekend. Friday Sykes thing. Saturday BJ Ohio meetup. Sunday Step-mothers Day.
WaterGirl
@Elizabelle: I’m not sure she’s taking requests! :-)
WaterGirl
@sab: Go! Even if you have to eat ramen noodles for a couple of days. :-)
WaterGirl
@frosty: LOVE 2018, who is sitting on her wrapper.
They are all great – I think I like the rounded faces best.
sab
@sab: I just decided I will not host Step-mother’s Day, which was a truncated Mother’s Day for our adopted kid who’s actual mother is dead. She and the boys have different mothers. I am the step-mother. They wanna do something then do it. I will turn up if required but I will not organize.
Our family is complicated but the kids are okay so it mostly works out. I only wanted to do Mother’s Day for her, since I am the closest to a living mom that she has. If she wants to include her brothers then I am step-mom again. Honorable role so I am fine with that.
sab
@WaterGirl: I will send the check. We cannot go if husband knows I sent it. My guess is it will be standing room only so I think they will love to have paid cancellations. Crockett is a political rock star.
sab
@sab: We could go, but husband would grumble later. He isn’t a monster. Just sensible about money.
Another Scott
Meanwhile, over on LOLGOP’s place at the moment…
I think nobody here is surprised by this – I know I’m not.
Grr…
Best wishes,
Scott.
trollhattan
@Another Scott:
And predictably, crickets on the accountability ledger.
All the criming. So much criming.
lowtechcyclist
@Another Scott:
And if this had happened in a Democratic Administration, not only would the SecDef be fired, but Presidential impeachment proceedings would be underway.
NotMax
Had not the slightest idea there’s such a thing as Easter carols.
;)
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
@sab:
Might be a dead thread, but I’ll be there : )
Juju
@Another Scott: Not surprised at all, but shocked that it really seems to be ok if you are a Republican, especially with something so deadly serious.
Old School
Late to the thread, but is it Butter Lambs?
I always enjoy Cole’s Easter Bunny picture.
DEBG
@wmd: Good call.
Maybe 20 years ago, I got to see David Sedaris perform in Lawrence KS. Afterwards, he sat for hours meeting fans and signing books. He signed my copy of Me Talk Pretty One Day, complete with a rusty trombone because it was a joke in the performance. I will always treasure that moment. Jesus Shaves and Six to Eight Black Men should be holiday traditions.
WaterGirl
@DEBG: I have never seen / heart / heard of Six to Eight Black Men.
I just google and have it open in a tab to watch later.
